Context of the song: This song was written about his dad when he was in very poor health, he had never been super close to his dad and has been on bad ends with him since. The lyrics are really deep if you listen to them, and explain the emotions he felt during this time. The end of the song is all distorted, sporadic, and spontaneous for a reason. Mac said "The ending is really poetic, no matter how distorted life gets, you always have to stay on beat" This is why I believe that this is Mac DeMarcos best song. Because of the raw, true, emotion he put into this song.

I’ve never heard a song with emotion more raw and palpable than this one. The second half is probably my favorite, the melancholic refrain played by the lead guitar just looping over and over while everything builds around it, the wailing from the keyboards (which is really cool how they did it live) nearly overtaking the rest of the band at points, but still the rest of the group plays on. As it shifts away from the original recording into more of a jam sesh, and each of the musicians add their own little creative flair into it, it just elevates the whole piece, the drummer going crazy at 8:43, the lead guitarist completely changing the melody around 8:50, you can tell each of these musicians have worked with Mac, and have their own connection to the song in their own way. You can see it on the keyboardist’s face at 9:00, everyone can just FEEL the song, Mac himself, while taking a backseat for most of the song, is still visibly moved by it. There’s just an incredible amount of depth to this song, and I think it’s definitely taken the #1 favorite song of all time spot for me. His dad left their family because he refused to pay child support, basically he chose drugs and alcohol over Mac and his family, so obviously Mac never really learnt to love his dad
