I love this video, thanks for taking time to educate us away from school. It’s a PLUS that you used the left for the dominant side!!!! I’m a lefty and this helps me so much!
Thank you very much. Your English is very clear and understandable. Only one note: it would be good to hear about common mistakes and sources of error as well (connection with catheter insertion). It may also be interesting to see what problems an incorrect intervention can cause. György from Hungary
Seems you asked all the question but one. Does the patient prefer someone of the same gender as the patient is very exposed in this process and the patient should be given as much privacy as possible. I feel you should always respect the patients modesty as the patient is very exposed in this procedure. Why is that question and respect not given to the patient? I recently was shown how to self cath and it was by someone of the opposite gender and I was completely embarrassed and have started to look for a different doctor and office to go to. I have been wearing sunglasses to the follow up visits. Seems a simple request for a patient.
I’ve been at both ends of a catheter and couldn’t imagine having this done to me by a male. So many of the men that I have done looked so embarrassed and I felt so badly for them. We need more men in nursing for these patients. All patients are a person with a sick body. If we’re only caring for the body, we’re only caring for half the patient.
It’s amazing how you can empathize with embarrassment to female patients getting male nurses performing this procedure but when men get it done by female nurses we get the old it’s just a body part statement
@@richardtony1999 I am pleased for you I could not exhibit myself to females without being embarrassed. The system is working well for you getting the care you need from the gender you are comfortable with that is what most males can only dream about
Absolutely right. Finding the meatus can be the biggest challenge sometimes. I recommend putting the patient in trendelenburg, good lighting and extra hands.
Compared to your other video for a male patient, you switched dominant hands ... Then I noticed you mirrored this video, switching left and right. The clock gave it away.

I’m the opposite as a male I only want a female. Less awkward

Thanks, your English is clear for my understanding
Think you should get one for practice to see how had it is
What about a Paralyze patient that can’t bend knees even even you had help and it’s difficult to locate the meatus
Absolutely right. Finding the meatus can be the biggest challenge sometimes. I recommend putting the patient in trendelenburg, good lighting and extra hands.
I dont think this patient will be needing this anymore. I believe you can code her. Shes gone.
❤
