The basis (the deciding factor) is "by grace through faith, and not by works" (Ephesians 2:8-9). Nothing we can do on our own will save us, it's the grace of God that even makes our saving possible. That's the basis, the table setter. And then, with the time that remains in our lives, we live the best possible life we can to honor God (works). But it's not BY works, it's BY grace.
@@Mental.Health.Ministries I totally agree, by trusting Jesus Christ and his death for our sins, burial, and bodily resurrection. And believing that alone for eternal life which is guaranteed to the believer, that cannot be lost! I also think works come naturally to the person who is living by faith (the just shall live by faith, we walk by faith not by sight, etc) and that is pleasing to God. So the focus is always on Christ.
