For the luggage, an important one is also to take a picture of it, my luggage got lost, at that time I didn't speak English well, having a picture of my luggage on my phone saved me that day! I could never have described it without that picture. They found it 10 days after 😅

An interesting thing is that we see a not invited kiss as an assault, which I agree, because is abusive. But some Disney princesses have been woken up with a kiss from a total stranger, even if princes and we still see that as romantic. How is that?

I can totally relate to this feeling and situation unfortunately.
I went to visit a befriended family when I was 15.
Even though I went there often with my family, it felt uncomfortable to be there alone and stay for a week because I noticed that the guy (this story is about) was looking at me in a very unpleasant way. But I didn't mind as my family trusted him (he was 34 I think) and I did too. The problem was also that his kids went to a school trip and his wife has stayed at her sister's home since day 4 so nobody could see that coming.
I even had a room for me so I didn't feel any danger coming up.
But on the fourth night his housekeeper went grocery shopping without taking me as I slept in too long. And when I woke up I saw him millimetres away from me and I was panicked and stunned as I couldn't think, move, do anything. He misused this moment, raped me several times and left me there.
I remember well that I couldn't cry and I couldn't tell anyone that. It literally took me 5 years to tell my parents and my best friend about this incident.
My family realized that there was some problem and it led to no contact with them in future. But every time they asked me about what happened there I couldn't talk. It was hurtful.
Even though you might know people, don't ever trust them. I can talk now about this freely without bursting into tears but this took me a lot of time, literally 5 years to tell somebody and again about 3 years to talk normally about it.
Keep you guys safe, trust your gut, even if everybody says that this environment is safe for you.

It really pisses me off that young women cannot travel anywhere alone without constantly looking over their shoulders for sexual predators. FFS why can't people just leave them alone and allow them to live and enjoy their lives without the constant fear that someone may try to take sexual advantage of them!! Oh, and surprise surprise; I am male and I have every sympathy with the ladies!

Do make sure you've got your phone with you wherever you go. It's actually a little bit funny but my aunt needed to go for a pee, she said sth to the driver but either he didn't hear her properly or forgot about it, I'm not sure. My aunt did her thing, then she saw that the bus wasn't there! It was dark, in the middle of nowhere and luckily she got her phone so she could call her friends (friends who were with her on that trip but who were fast asleep at that time :>). The bus turned around and all was well :) But she was quite scared when she realized the bus left! Sorry for any mistakes, I'm still learning tenses :) Ps. I love the ending of this video 😁

7:04-11:20 I agree with Lucy about heeding that instinctive feeling. I will support and back up Lucy regarding this topic, as I add to Lucy’s advice about fallowing instincts, I invite all who read this comment to ponder and consider this fact: The feeling Lucy experienced is greater than an instinct; she felt the power of the Holy Ghost warning her in a still small voice that the man had been plotting ill intentions to take advantage of her. The Holy Ghost warned her about the dangers the man was plotting, and Lucy would have been safe to heed that instinctive prompting. To summarize, when you sense that feeling in your bosom and receive ideas, heed it, and head to safety, also if you feel an impression to do something good for someone else, this is the Holy Ghost communicating in a still small voice in the form of thoughts and feelings that the things you should do are the right thing. Trust that feeling.

So MANY great recommendations!!! So sorry you had an unwanted experience while traveling. I remember I specifically paid for single rooms while traveling for that fear.
I had an experience on the train from Genoa to Milan. It was a very threatening experience where my friend and I thought we may end up getting attacked. I literally changed from my long dress into jeans, flannel, hiking boots, hat and pretended to be a guy so it did not look like two women alone in a train car. One of the guys started to come into our cabin and then his friend grabbed him and took him away. Later at the Milan station he saw we were in fact both women and his face became so angry and twisted. We were so glad to have thwarted what could have been a terrible trip!

I remember when I was in the ninth grade I had once gone on a vacation with my family. There was this guy on the train who kept staring at me the whole time. I was really uncomfortable but I didn't say anything to anyone. We arrived the destination and I thought that I'd be free and relaxed. So happily, we went to the beach and I was totally horrified seeing that guy again. I remember we stayed there for 2 days and I saw that person both the days. I wish I could go back in the past and scold myself for being such a coward. The day we'd to return, I actually hoped that I'd never see him again. However,I was wrong. He was there again. I remember that at a particular station, the train halted and he stood outside my window seat and tried clicking my picture but I turned away. After that,we arrived home and I've never seen him again.I regret not telling anyone about it and would like to ask everyone to NOT BE SCARED and speak out. It's been more than five years now but it still makes me regret and horrified at the thought of what could have happened. Also.. PLEASE TRUST YOUR GUT FEELINGS as Lucy said. Stay safe!

The kiss kind of reminds me of Thomas from Downton Abbey kissing Jimmy in his sleep who was really disgusted afterwards but out of different reasons.
I feel sorry for you though, Lucy no one should be kissed in their sleep or in general by a person they don't want to be kissed by, it is already assault.
Speaking of Downton Abbey I recently saw an actress from Downton, Sophie McShera, narrated a book for Audible which is often your sponsor. I don't recall what the book is called but it's a psychological thriller.

I heard that, too and had the same thought. Perhaps Lucy will elucidate that in a video on her English with Lucy channel. 😉

    • @unnamedchannel2202
      @unnamedchannel2202 5 лет назад +3

      @, yes please!
There is a story about kaputt I'd like to share.
Back in the days very early this millennium when BBC refurbished Broadcasting House in W1 there were mostly German engineers doing the *pleased to omit unsuitable swearwords* work. Things were kaputt all the time.
Back then a Welsh project lead at BBC happened to explain to a German engineer kaputt actually has become an English term. "Das ist kaputt!" had replaced "This needs to be fixed!".
Just another random story from an engineer so far.
Up to now I considered this to be an urban legend. But hearing not just a native speaker but a teacher using kaputt as if it were the most natural way to describe something broken is just mind-blowing.
So Brexit is a thing? Forget it! We have already taken control over your language. 🤣
To put this clear! I am joking. About Brexit that is. Being not exactly too happy about it. But, not my beer!
To say not my business in the most German way is: Nicht mein Bier!

    • @natgraveyard3524
      @natgraveyard3524 5 лет назад +1

Just guessing... it might be because of her living in Spain... kaputt is used more freely as slang in Spain for anything that does not function properly anymore... and hence could be used to reffer to a phone battery's death.
Nevertheless, great to know its proper use! Thank you!

Ha Ha. I took S9 from Schönefeld to Berlin City Center just last week. You must have taken a Regional train, because the S-Bahn ends in Schönefeld. Read the signs! In Wünsdorf btw was the head quarter of the Sovjet Army in Eastern Germany.
Last year in Vienna I missed my bag on the belt, caroussel. There was just another bag looking exactly like mine driving around, but it wasn‘t mine! What a nightmare, someone must have grabbed my bag. I took the wrong bag and went to the missing luggage desk. When I started to explain what happend an old lady appeared with my bag. I wondered how she could even lift my bag (usually 23kg). Here bag was very light. How could she not feel the weight difference? Adrenalin? At least she noticed her mistake before she left the Airport. I was happy. So, a red belt around the bag is a good idea! 😀

My boss asked us to wear sparkly dresses for new year's eve and the only one I had was pretty short. I didn't want to buy another sparkly dress because they are ridiculous and you can't wear them too often so I went with this one. He sent someone to call for me and another young woman in his office overlooking the restaurant. He had two other friends of his in his office. He asked us to SWIRL around and show off our dresses. PAUSED. Then told us to go back down. It was disgusting and I didn't want to lose my job and have to pray to find another decent job so I did swirl. I don't know why the other girl swirled, she must have thought the same. As we went back down we were hating on this sack of crap the whole time and swearing to ourselves the whole time. EVERY woman has stories like this. Next time someone pinches me on the butt I will try to poke them in the eyes. They shouldn't think nobody will ever do anything and they will get away with horrible stuff like that. Just go for it - slap them or poke them in the eye or shove them hard and start yelling and shaming them in public. Get creative.

I know I'm few months late to comment on this but I have a good tip. As someone who has took many risks traveling at a young age I recommend you to have a silent alarm. That is someone who is going to know who you are with and where you're going to be at all times. It can be a friend that is travelling with you or someone back at home. Send to your silent alarm friend a group picture of the people you're going out and all the details you know about what you're going to do. This person should know EVERYTHING, so choose someone you trust. you and your chosen silent alarm should be in touch from time to time during the night and always check on each other the next morning. If something happens to you (fingers crossed it doesn't) your friend can talk to someone for help.
It is so sad we have to do this when we go out, but personally, I felt much safer when I went out abroad or having dates when I was single.
    Hope it helps.

Guys are fucking nuts and they really think that this is normal to kiss a sleeping person- it should have been ok for you to sleep in the pyjama that you like what ever the style; clothing it is not a sign what so ever. This guys is sick. I am so tired of tolerance for these actions. It is to just a kiss; it is clearly invasive, inappropriate and he should feel bad about it, not you!

thank you Lucy Bella for that Video! I'm planning to travel alone so this helps me. I always searching for tipps for travelling solo. Do you have tipps for people who want to take a airplane for the first time? I never was on an airportyet and I'm a bit scared of that. I don't know how everything works..

I think the best thing to do is to tell the people who work at the airport that it is your first time, so they can direct you in a clear way! Best of luck ❤️

Thank you for sharing this. :) I am so sorry for what happened to you (referring to no. 3) :(
You pronounced "Schönefeld" the right way. :) Unfortunately people in Berlin & Brandenburg (that's the county Wünsdorf is located.) happen to be shy or unfriendly against strangers. I live in Potsdam (also Brandenburg) and a lot of tourists come here. For example, the bus drivers cannot speak English fluently and therefore cannot help non-native speakers. Sometimes I feel really ashamed by them being so unfriendly to tourists. :( Sorry you were treated like this when you have been stranded in Wünsdorf. :O
    I love the ending! :D

Hey Lucy! Like your genuine and natural style. Weird suggestion: Considering you're funny (in a good way of course) It would be fun (and funny) if you made a video about everyday-like situations. Kind of your own Lucy version of Michael McIntyre. Very easy to make such a suggestion...I know but if you did I'm sure I'd be funny. It could be like a list of ten " silly things I do". Anyway, you have a fun personality and thank you for sharing.

It's not a good idear to write down the adress of your home. Imagine somebody would break into your home because he found out by a friend that you're on holiday. I write the adress of the hotel and when I fly back than my home adress.

and Thank God for the blessing of Islam .
It regulates our lives the way GOD meant it to be like.
No mixing and mingling between men and women outside holy wedlock.
Hijab keeps your attractions to yourself, your family and girlfriends and most importantly. your husband , no stranger eye (or hand) get to enjoy your body.
Islam is to show your intellect and morals NOT your curves. Peace.
