I love the way all these bee keepers on you tube answer all of the many questions they receive. So beneficial for all the less experienced.
Just started watching you & I find your videos fascinating. I’m 51 & terrified of bees. I was attacked by an angry swarm as a child but I thought that by learning more about bees that maybe I can work through this phobia. I think it’s working as I can now watch without covering my eyes! LOL! Thank you for taking the time to make your videos!
Am a Jamaica living in America I try some of your method of beekeeping in Jamaica the work great. l like your channel good job keep doing what you are doing.
Nice work David a nice intro into the family biz for your niece
Hi, wonderful operation you have going. Simple question if I may. What is the difference and or pros and cons with the 2 frame mini Mating Nucs vs. queen castles? Is one better than the other? Is it cost that makes you do it this way? Do you find one way the Queens are more likely to return vs. getting lost?
Thanks for any info you may give.
nice video Dave . I liked it very much.
If you thinking about getting Bees do it.The energy form a hive is best thing ever.
Hello David, I watched this video last year when it came out and again tonight. I have a question actually two questions. You put a new frame with a starter strip and beside it a black plastic frame just to make sure that they started the new frame out straight. You said that when they had drawn the starter strip frame out that you would remove the black plastic frame. Now the first question: When ;you remove the black plastic frame do you replace it with another new starter strip frame? And if so how far along should the first starter strip frame be drawn out before it is ok to replace the black plastic frame with the new starter starter frame? Oh, and a great video by the way! Thanks for posting! Sincerely, Phillip Hall
Another great vid!
Please tell us the thickness of the ply your using .. I’ve seen all the dimensions but no material info .. looks like 3/4?
I have to ask-what did you do with the mated queen that came with the package? (I recently put down a deposit on 3 barnyard Bees packages!!)
Hey David, This is going to be my first attempt at doing Mating Nucs. Thanks for the training. Do you have plans on how to make the feeders in this video? Thanks.
Your technique using the plastic frames to minimize cross combing is interesting. You might want to make a video on your foundationless frames.
Curious if this method could help me out?. I ordered queens to increase my bee yard this year. I have 3 hives that moved into some of my deadouts last year, I had a total loss. I'm in ny. I planned on taking a couple of frames from my 3 existing hives to start new colonies with theses new queens. When opening up my hives to check on food for them, there numbers are too small. I don't think they will be able to donate frames in the late spring having only a frame or two of bees themselves. Could I buy a package, and spit it between the 2 frame nucs and add the mated queens and frames to start out? If i could, how many 2 frame nucs would one package be able to comfortably make with out stretching bees to thin? I would assume I'd need to feed them in the process of this if yes? If not, any ideas???
Hello, Love your videos! That starter strip frame...can you show how it looks when it is finished....if full of honey... is it Strong enough to extract?
Nice Video. you said you have a high success rate with the queens coming back. I"m actually having the other issue to where only a few make it back. This last time I think it was due to the heavy rains we have but I wanted to see if you had any recommendation. Thanks
Wow this is your roots lol did you donate those other queens?
Great video Barnyard Bees :)
Thank you David, I was wanting to know how this is done and found this video!! A wealth of information!! Thank you for sharing!! When I get everything prepared and set up for bees I will buy from you!! When is it to late in the year to do this?
Would this work with matted queens as well with the package bees ?
So the door on this mini nukes are closed for the first day or two you said so they get used to their Queen? Is that right?
So can i buy a 5 frame nuc, then take some of those bees and put some in the 2 frame, and buy a queen to go with them? Also how early next year could i do this ?
Really nice presentation. Do you get a high success rate? Best wishes, LP
Get a head/cam holder - or go-cam - easier - thanks for the tips! Great vid
Hi David, what do you think about spraying them with an Oxalic Acid solution for Varroa treatment?
Do we have to worry about paper wasps, yellow jackets or bumblebees getting to close to the mating nucs?
Would this work for 3 3 frame nucs? I would supply additional queens.
Very interesting! We started keeping bees last year and lost all four hives for various reasons. We've learned a lot since and hope to get at least one hive through winter this year. Do you have plans for your nuc and mini nuc boxes?
It seems like a good way to expand the apiary for sure. I was hoping to build some which is why I was asking about plans. I"m trying to do all I can to not have to ship bees. There are always way too many dead ones on arrival. I've been enjoying your vids, so keep up the good work!

I noticed the cutting list in the description above.
@@julieenslow5915 good
Good inforatin. Thank you.
Man I love your channel. I'm trying to be more self sufficient but I'm a Lil nervous to try raising queens
Thank you for the video ! ЛАЙК!!!)))
Are these your own bee packages or bought in?
Do you have a preference between 2 frame mating nucs and 3 frame mating nucs? I am trying to decide which to make. Just a few to have on hand should I need them.
Looked through your videos and didn't see one on the build for the 2 frame mini-mating NUC, or the top feeder. Nice setup. I'd like to replicate it in my yard.
David Sanbeg
cutting lists for the 2 frame mating nuc are in the description above.
Just wondering what your measurements are for those two frame mini nukes and what the measurements for the top feeder?thank you
I use a plywood from used concrete forms. Cheap, light, and everlasting.
Another AWESOME "Grass Roots Tip" from the Barnyard.... Barnyard Bees that is !!!!!"
Nice video im also a Beekeeper from Brazil I would like to know how to build these feeders i would like to try to use them here. How they get in the upper box to feed?
check out the fat bee man on youtube. its his design and u can find someone explaining how to make it.
What do you do with the mated queen that came in the package?
How quick can you go from a 2frame mating Nuc to a 10 frame. Or do you just go from 2 frame to 5 then expand next year? Just got permission to use part of 200 acres where I work, middle of farm land and just wonder if I'd be able to expand enough to get them thru winter.
Ah, I see a continual Queen factory basically gotcha. Thanks for the reply.
Barnyard Bees trying to expand on the cheap and looking for different ways to do it. Enjoying your videos.
How long before they draw enough the comb?
Can’t we introduce a mated queen to get them building even faster?
What did you do with the mated queen that came with your package?
Used in another split.
Hello. What is the thickness of the material for the nucleus?
Thanks
اشهد ان لا اله الا الله واشهد أن محمداً رسول اللّه
if they are so close do queens drift from one to another nuc ?
Could you just put queen cells instead of queens ?
Great Vid
Do you have a link to a video for the other way to make a nuc without a queen?
do you sell and ship those mini nuks?
tie a string to the roller cage, it will make it easier to remove when ready
Good stuff ... but a bit fast on starter strip and solid plastics. Some more explanation helpful.
How can you get a pound in each one if you have a 3 pound package and 4 boxes . Lol
Why does the Queen go out to mate?
xshanghu
Only a mated Queen can lay eggs that produce workers or another Queen, you probably knew that. Bees mate in flight, and she wants to mate with a number of different drones to gather sufficient sperm to last her the rest of her egg laying days. Also that allows for some genetic diversity.
Nice video!! Thanks for all of your videos they are very informative!! I was wondering though, where do you get the syrup container and screened container to that you put the bees in?? I have never seen these for sale anywhere.
Barnyard Bees can you tell where you buy them at or do you need topsecret clearance?? 👦
Barnyard Bees thank you
so are you happy with your double frame deep nucs?
I'd like to get a wax dipping set-up, I've been buying waxed equipment, if you have any thoughts, or know someone selling theirs, give me a shout.
Do you sell your hives? If so how much money?
Check them out barnyardbees.com/
Would you be willing to share the dimensions of your two frame nucs?
Thank you, sir. You are a true "Gawga" Boy. (I'm originally from Savannah.)
What is the thickness of the ply? 3/4?
whats the dimensions of the 2 frame nuc?
Josh Reeder
See the description above for the cutting list.
i have 4 lr hives can i make my own queens what you think
Barnyard Bees with 2 frames or 3 maybe 4
Why not just make one long ass langstroff box and just drop it full of partitions what ever size you want.I notice some times you show 3 frames ,sometimes 2 frames .sometime a 5 frame.Seems like you would be better off with just one versatile box.And just for you I give you my far out Idea .Make the box as long as a football field. You could make the Guinness book of records .Probably would go viral..LOL Later Bud Lot of good stuff I learnt from you.
So, how did this method work out for you in the end? Update?
how did you end up correcting the drifting with this method? I saw you normally space about a foot apart.
Feeding sugarwater - don’t you have any robbing problems ?
Does this guy not have any friends or a wife to hold the camera for a second?
You need to buy a GoPro camera with a head strap. :)
Ha david how would u do this if u wanted to use your bees would u put a frame of capped brood and a frame of eggs in your castle thanks
thanks u are great
Another great vid!
Please tell us the thickness of the ply your using .. I’ve seen all the dimensions but no material info .. looks like 3/4?
