    2020 Packages (Gentle Stock Packaged Bees) - Barnyard Bees
    barnyardbees.com/product/2020...
    If you need mated Queens call Barnyard bees 706-508-8605 we will ship anywhere in the country except Hawaii and Alaska.
    Please note in the video you will hear two Queens piping I had them in cages beside me on a stand not to be confused with two queens in the hive.
    Watch as I demonstrate how to tell if Hive will accept a new Queen I directly released this queen after only been in the cage with the hive for 30 minutes they accepted her I checked the very next day and she was still doing fine. Please remember I added an element of difficulty by using a hive that had Queens cells. it's even harder for them to accept a mated Queen with Queen cells. under normal conditions you would want to remove the queen cell one day prior to installing your queen.

      I keep bees. Let, me tell you those bee suits are hot! The key to keeping your bees calm is to be calm yourself. That's hard to do when it's 95 in the shade and closer to 100 inside a bee suit. I always tend my bees in nothing more than jeans, t-shirt and veil. In only use the veil to keep them from buzzing my eye, that's very distracting.

    It's so strange seeing someone handle bees up-close. Gotta say, the more of your videos I watch, the more I realise that my fear of bees stems more from my childhood experiences of being stung by YellowJackets. They seem almost tame around you. Thank you for the informative videos! :D

    Pause at 5:37. That's a queen cell in the upper right corner. If you do not remove it, a part of your bees will choose the new queen over your mated queen. They either swarm or try to kill your marked queen.

      Emm... And you're taking to??? He said he would take care of them the next day. Or you try to teach the watchers?

  • @lawrenceapiary4765
    @lawrenceapiary4765 6 лет назад +35

    Dave have you ever seen the bees bite the queens? I tried to introduce a young mated queen into a queenless nuc today and it appeared they were accepting her but I was concerned about them crawling over her. Then I saw what looked like one that had its mouthparts on her leg like it was trying to bite her. I left her in a roller cage and will check on it tomorrow. Hopefully they will take it. This was a walk away split that failed. The queen cell they raised must have failed and they have been without a queen for over a month.

    In 2014 I had a neighbour on my allotment who had bees right on the edge of my garden. I couldn't use my garden for at least 12 meters (40 feet) from the hive or they would attack me. Do you know why they attacked people within the 40 feet radius (so not only me). Your bees are so peaceful.

    • @juniabrubaker7088
      @juniabrubaker7088 5 лет назад +41

      Depends on the hive. Mine are super docile, I hardly smoke them at all to work them, I can replace their feed no smoke, no protection. An agressive hive may attack from across the yard, though. That hive should have had it's queen destroyed and a docile queen introduced.

    Introducing her to a nuc sized colony was/is always a good idea. A delayed release system might have been better if that was a full sized colony. For beginners if you get a new queen make a nuc up to receive her (and use delayed release as a failsafe) and then if you need to requeen a full colony unite the nuc to it over newspaper (having first removed the old queen of course).

    Wonderful. I posted on our gardeners site that I had seen THREE bees one morning..great excitement! If you grow vegetables in a food desert in an urban area where a neighbor cemented a swarm into a wall a few years ago you will understand the enthusiasm ! To encourage them to come back into my garden is a long process. They are the cleverest creatures in the world...and without them we die...literally.
