As much as I love the "class protector" scene in The Prom, this episode makes me love it 1000 times more. The whole big fight with the whole school helping is only possible because the class had already acknowledged that they knew what Buffy was and appreciated her for it.
I love the symbolism of the graduating class finally taking a stand and fighting back, becoming adults as it were :) The part where buffy says 'NOW!' and they all take off their graduation gowns and prepare to fight gets me all emotional every time!
After Show Reactions There’s a payoff. Just has a long countdown ;) You also have to consider that Slayers do have a natural “6th sense”, it’s just that there’s never been 2 active in prolonged close proximity. It’s bound to get weird. Faith being in a coma and all likely messed things up. But everything in there does come back. I just can’t say. Stupid precognitive dreams.

Buffy made Angel feed from her. He tried to stop it. She hit him until he "vamped" out and gave in. So I have never understood why people blame him. She chose to save him when he was prepared to die instead of feeding off of her.
She didn’t really make him. I’m not sure “vamped” out is a thing, especially when you have a soul. Say whatever you will about the other person (not sure if the replies to comments are censored too) but he would never have done that.
@@christino3852 Keep in mind angelus is locked up, bit he still has menial influence over what angel does, or it could just be what angel has been trying to tell people for years, he's not a good person. Angel is a terrible person trying to be good. He really would rather die than feed on buffy, but she forced his animal instincts out. Luckily he stopped, also the gang doesn't see it yet but buffy did the right thing by saving him. Angel is a true rarity and a champion and has saved what was it? Hundreds of thousands or millions of people? He's worth saving.
I forget sometimes how good this show was. I mean it's one of my favorites, but rewatching it now, especially since I'm older, I am blown away. It's not just another teen show. It's really a notch above.
What I've noticed now after watching this again is that Buffy almost saw Faith as almost like a sister when she was lying on the hospital bed and then that whole dream sequence that reveal something about them, what Buffy would've wished had turned out instead of what really happened. Like if she wasn't so messed up, they could really get along a lot better, along with Buffy's friends, and so on... This was a really great episode to end the season. I wasn't expecting that whole class to be armed and ready to fight but "The Prom" episode probably eluded to them getting involved and gave Buffys gang the idea to enlist them into battle since their lives were going to be really at "stake."
They’re two sides of the same coin. Faith is what could have been without the scoobie’s and her mom. They’re what grounds Buffy and keeps her grounded to the world and caring about it.
@Russell ward Yup! Spike even pointed that out to her in season 5 I think it was when she asked him on how he killed the two slayers. And he tells her that's the wrong question to ask. It's not how they were killed but why they were killed. Slayers typically are alone all they know is their watcher and their duty. Buffy was different she made her own rules on how she wanted to be a Slayer in a more unconventional way. Buffy has Giles, the scoobies, her mom and then her sister they are her ties to the world and her humanity.
This is my second favorite season finale. It’s so gratifying to watch the whole school tear off their graduation gowns and fight together. It’s like they’ve all collectively decided not to be victims any longer, which makes the whole theme of “graduation” a lot more interesting than the title of the episode initially suggests (esp. if you consider Buffy’s comment to Wesley in Part 1). I just love a good title! Btw, I’m a little surprised you caught some of the individual moments in the battle, like Harmony getting bitten. I missed a lot of that the first time around because it all happened so quickly. Excellent review! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on S3!
In hindsight... f rom the perspective of someone who's finished watching the entire show, that dream sequence is clear as glass and shows all kinds of foreshadowing.
good for you 'cause not everyone would see those things as foreshadowing as dream sequences have meanings to them that may or may not always be clear to the viewers in relation to the characters' subconscious... at least not clear the first time around
You edited out my favourite subtly funny moment. It's where Willow says "He's delirious. He thought I was Buffy", and Oz replies "You too, huh?" They then continue on, but after you think about it, you realise that that same dramatic scene that happened to Willow, also happened to Oz.
Joss Whedon once said that Angel feeding off of Buffy and her reaction was "one of {their} thinner metaphors." The Scoobies reaction at 6:25 always upset me. Why do they, especially Xander, get the last word on something they are wrong about only to lie to Buffy about why he isn't there when she wakes up (sunny indeed. Try dismissed by Buffy's "friends"). Graduation Day. Knew Snyder would die when I first watched. I just never knew how.
That foreshadowing of Buffys sister coming later seasons in that dream sequence is crazy. I thought it was bs when people brought it up after the fact but then when asked Josh said they were right.
The mayor's speech is kind of a description of the overall theme of the season. How what happens on your journey shapes you. They used all these mirror images during the season to point that out. Buffy vs Faith, Giles vs Wesley, Willow vs Vampire Willow, Buffy vs Alternate reality Buffy, Buffy vs 'Anne'.
If I remember correctly Sunnydale Highschool was actually Torrance Highschool in LA and when it was "blown up" they either didn't warn the residents or quite a few windows were blown in which wasn't helped by the over use of explosives by the SFX crew. As a result the film crew weren't allowed back.
As someone noted below when they did the practical effects explosion for the school they used so much explosive that it set off car alarms in the surrounding area at around 3am. The residents of the area were not amused. Here's a Fun Fact for you: Torrance High School was used at the exterior for Sunnydale High. The front entrance and quad area with the stair case and fountain are actually part of the school. Another fun bit is that Buffy's house is just three blocks away from Torrance High. You can sight see both the school and the house BUT just be aware that the school is a functioning one complete with students and the house has private residents. Cheers!
I love how smooth that doctor is after Angel rips the handle off the door. LOL. Buffy's dream is a trip. But for real the best part was all the Sunnydale grads standing up for their school and their town and joining the fight.
It's like when nobody made a big deal about Buffy lifting steel girders in season six. In Sunnydale, super strength is the least weird thing you can encounter.
Thank goodness this isn't the atrocious HD remaster, where the Mayor and students all look to the sky even though nothing is getting dark, and we see no evidence of the impending eclipse until we actually see the eclipse. All because they neglected to reapply the correct filters on the shot in post.
people keep spoiling things about the dream sequence and it is annoying me. lets keep it at this: all slayer dreams are there for a reason. no dream sequence on the show is for shits and gigs. there, now everyone can stop saying specific spoilers, that's all that needed to be said.
side note. the actually blew up the school. the explosion caused a bunch of car alarms to go off in the surrounding area. the filming of BUFFY were not welcomed back into town after wards. that is why in future seasons we don't see the town any more for a few seasons.

She mentions that since they weren't welcome in Torrance during filming for seasons 4 or 5, the audience was unlikely to see more exteriors of the Summers' house.
Wesley and Cordi.... hands down the most AWKWARD and UNCOMFORTABLE kiss EVER! Like, NO. And how about that moment the whole class was armed to go against the Mayor? AWESOME!!! The same class that not only talked behind Buffy's back and then gave her the Class Protector award but the very same one that is standing side-by-side with her fighting against the weird crap that happens only in Sunnydale lol. LOVED IT! Jonathan (the "extra" guy) went all in, Harmony got bit, Cordelia got to finally stake a vamp, which by the way, Charisma Carpenter had been requesting to stake a vampire since the first season and she finally got to do it onscreen. Yay! It was sweet of Xander to tell Buffy that Angel made it out safely. And Angel did find a way to say goodbye to Buffy. Well, at least they said Faith was gonna be in a coma instead of being dead. Thank goodness right? That leaves the possibility of her character coming back. Something is better than nothing. I'll take it! Lol. Can't wait for your Angel reactions. So looking forward to that. I wish that some decisions made a bigger impact. Like when they were not gonna see each other that lasted on episode, then they broke up, again only an episode, Buffy sacrifices herself to save Angel and he says he's gonna leave without a goodbye? I never noticed before but that's truly messed up.

Angel will die from Faith's poison arrow. "No" Buffy can kill Faith to save Angel. "No". Buffy can save Angel by getting him to drink from her. "No". It had to be one of those.

technically Buffy gave him consent to feed off her. Xander had no right to say that, simply because he refuses to see Angel as anything but a vampire. (tbh anything Xander says in reference to Angel infuriates me because it's 100% clear he's still petty about Buffy rejecting him for Angel even though Angel has saved her life and their lives more times than they can count, and by this point should at least have some sort of grudging respect for him. I get that Giles would possibly still be distrusting after Angelus killed Jenny, but even he was trying to save Angel's life.) Season 2 to here they kind of ruined Xander's character for me - when they made him have a crush on Buffy, made him petty about it and made him seem like a r/nice guy. Don't get me wrong, I do love his character at times, but he seemed to vehemently judge Buffy and anyone she dated. idk, he's just not a particularly good friend or character in my eyes. So this was kind of irrelevant to the video but I'm rewatching your reaction and noticed your comment on how Xander had a point (which obviously I disagree with) so I felt an urge to rant because it felt like a good time lmao.
So great how into this show you are: your "No"s to "drink me", laughin to "good luck in England, "Whaaat" to the Major and the whole graduation scene. Your face when you see the explosives and the explosion. Also, "Inbreeding" - so funny. Well spotted that 2 Principals were eaten, and the Major's name is also Dick. Interesting pattern that Buffy "burned down" her school in LA (according to S1) and did something similar here. Very much looking forward to your reaction to 7-3-0. :):):):) BTW it was Buffy that had that dream (or possibly both).

I suspected that our protagonist would eventually have decided to sacrifice herself for the one she still loves, a rather reckless decision considering the situation, but we understood that Buffy would not "survive" a new death of Angel; Fortunately, he did not come to really kill her. Faith is in a coma then, but even if she is not dead is not that a better fate has been touched ..... and the reaction of the Mayor confirms us how, however evil, he had really ended up loving this girl as if he were her daughter. Singles Buffy's dream where she meets Faith as she was before her change, an encounter with her deepest essence perhaps? What will the messages Faith have left us mean? That kiss given by Buffy seems to me the proof of a repentance on the part of our protagonist, or a hope that Faith will wake up and go back to being her friend .... and who knows that does not happen? The kiss between Cordelia and Wesley is certainly the least romantic of the series: D Our Buffy eventually worked out a perfect plan to stop the Mayor! The moment where all the graduates extract their weapons and fight against him and the vampires is one of the most beautiful in all, sin only for the poor Wesley, knocked out immediately .... and what about Snyder? Figure as a real idiot for him, but we will not cry for him, in short, he had previously expelled poor Buffy! To definitively win our friend chose to focus on Wilkins' weak point, feelings, in jargon his true affection for Faith, with explosive results! How many of us wanted to blow up the high school after graduation? And what about Jonathan hugging Cordelia? In the end we have to say goodbye to our dear Angel, ready for his series, and we hope that our dear Buffy will find a new love. Well, we have finished this wonderful season, and now let's see how Buffy and the Scoobies are doing at university, and who knows what new threats are waiting for them?

This finale definitely put an emphatic tag on the end of a stage for the gang (high school, Angel's deparure) in style! Your reactions for season 4 are going to be very interesting. Can't wait to see what you think of it. :) Season 3 as a whole though is my favorite of the high school years and probably at least in my top 3 overall for the 7 seasons. I always have difficulty ranking them though. Also, yay, Angel! I think I'm even more excited about you starting that. The first season is a bit of a bumpy road, but it'll be worth it. Wish I could say a bit more but you just gotta experience it for yourself. :)
Most of us dont need to deal with vamps and giant snakes, but im sure we could all feel how buffy n friends feel at the end when they say its over, we've overcome... HIGHSCHOOL.
It was just a few episodes back I mentioned people posting bloody spoilers, and they're are getting worse.... I know you haven't been spoiled yourself as of yet, but they are posting them in more detail now and pretty soon you will be spoiled. I'd really look into getting a few moderaters now, just as a precaution. It isn't fair your journey gets ruined because dipshits can't keep the spoilers to themselves.
And I don't mean the comments referencing little key moments or things that are also referenced again at some point, people have done pretty well to keep those as spoiler free as possible.
Lol, she has destroyed a school property 3 times. The school gym in L.A, blew up the whole school here in season 3 and then destroyed the new high school along with the town of Sunnydale with the help of Spike lol.
13:17 I love how you react to buffy’s lines so dramatically without saying anything. You have a very expressive face, but you can use it subtlety. You have a nice personality. An interest in fiction. More than that, I see you empathise with characters, feeling for them as though they were real people. Which involves you psychologically trying to understand what they’re feeling and why. The self confidence to run a RUclips channel starring yourself. You should consider being an actor. Those Attributes would serve you very well. (You’re also very beautiful and unfortunately that’s important in acting. Just an objective fact, I put it as a footnote because for reasons beyond understanding, I felt that be less creepy.)
"I like characters that are evilish" That's why I tend to like the worst characters in Game of Thrones and people hate me for it lol Maybe I just don't understand people but I still don't get why Angel was wrong for drinking. He tried to deny it. I like Xander but I actually didn't agree with his line there. OR Giles. Sending Angel away when potential attacks could happen seemed unwise. I've never been a fan of Angel until his own show, but in this instance I don't understand why people got upset at him there Plus I loved the whole gang together (I think for the first time all season). Wesley grew on me over the season too and tried to help. Sorry it didn't work out buddy

By the way, several years ago before this show even aired, I stumbled upon a low- budget gem of a movie called “That Night” starring Eliza Dushku (Faith) when she was just a little girl. so joss wedon put in a lot of hidden messages that he explains in an interview if you bout the dvd but i'm sure can find it online. he talks about the numbers being dates in later seasons or names of people later. things you might forget. You understand it better if you listen to him explain.
And ON go Season 4! This season cops it in the critiques, but for mine, the first half of the S4 is near flawless. It is by far the funniest season of the 7, with the highest of highs and a couple of *really* low lows. And the most milquetoast character in the Buffyverse. Ugh.

She mentions that since they weren't welcome in Torrance during filming for seasons 4 or 5, the audience was unlikely to see more exteriors of the Summers' house.
Wesley and Cordi.... hands down the most AWKWARD and UNCOMFORTABLE kiss EVER! Like, NO. And how about that moment the whole class was armed to go against the Mayor? AWESOME!!! The same class that not only talked behind Buffy's back and then gave her the Class Protector award but the very same one that is standing side-by-side with her fighting against the weird crap that happens only in Sunnydale lol. LOVED IT! Jonathan (the "extra" guy) went all in, Harmony got bit, Cordelia got to finally stake a vamp, which by the way, Charisma Carpenter had been requesting to stake a vampire since the first season and she finally got to do it onscreen. Yay! It was sweet of Xander to tell Buffy that Angel made it out safely. And Angel did find a way to say goodbye to Buffy. Well, at least they said Faith was gonna be in a coma instead of being dead. Thank goodness right? That leaves the possibility of her character coming back. Something is better than nothing. I'll take it! Lol. Can't wait for your Angel reactions. So looking forward to that. Your heroes are only as good as the villains they face. Batman is so great, because of how cool his villains are. I have always loved the relatable villains.
I wish that some decisions made a bigger impact. Like when they were not gonna see each other that lasted on episode, then they broke up, again only an episode, Buffy sacrifices herself to save Angel and he says he's gonna leave without a goodbye? I never noticed before but that's truly messed up.
So interesting to watch After Show Reactions go from a shy, reserved tenative reactor, to a seasoned entertainer in 3 short seasons of Buffy.

Season 3 was a great season, and it's been awesome re-living that with your vids. I loved that the classmates helped too!
technically Buffy gave him consent to feed off her. Xander had no right to say that, simply because he refuses to see Angel as anything but a vampire. (tbh anything Xander says in reference to Angel infuriates me because it's 100% clear he's still petty about Buffy rejecting him for Angel even though Angel has saved her life and their lives more times than they can count, and by this point should at least have some sort of grudging respect for him. I get that Giles would possibly still be distrusting after Angelus killed Jenny, but even he was trying to save Angel's life.) Season 2 to here they kind of ruined Xander's character for me - when they made him have a crush on Buffy, made him petty about it and made him seem like a r/nice guy. Don't get me wrong, I do love his character at times, but he seemed to vehemently judge Buffy and anyone she dated. idk, he's just not a particularly good friend or character in my eyes. So this was kind of irrelevant to the video but I'm rewatching your reaction and noticed your comment on how Xander had a point (which obviously I disagree with) so I felt an urge to rant because it felt like a good time lmao.

Your face when you see the explosives and the explosion. Also, "Inbreeding" - so funny. Well spotted that 2 Principals were eaten, and the Major's name is also Dick. Interesting pattern that Buffy "burned down" her school in LA (according to S1) and did something similar here. Very much looking forward to your reaction to 7-3-0. :):):):) BTW it was Buffy that had that dream (or possibly both).
It's crazy to think next year would be Buffy's 20 year high school reunion... mine is this year... I feel so old..:(

I suspected that our protagonist would eventually have decided to sacrifice herself for the one she still loves, a rather reckless decision considering the situation, but we understood that Buffy would not "survive" a new death of Angel; Fortunately, he did not come to really kill her.
Faith is in a coma then, but even if she is not dead is not that a better fate has been touched ..... and the reaction of the Mayor confirms us how, however evil, he had really ended up loving this girl as if he were her daughter.
Singles Buffy's dream where she meets Faith as she was before her change, an encounter with her deepest essence perhaps?
What will the messages Faith have left us mean?
That kiss given by Buffy seems to me the proof of a repentance on the part of our protagonist, or a hope that Faith will wake up and go back to being her friend .... and who knows that does not happen?
The kiss between Cordelia and Wesley is certainly the least romantic of the series: D
Our Buffy eventually worked out a perfect plan to stop the Mayor! The moment where all the graduates extract their weapons and fight against him and the vampires is one of the most beautiful in all, sin only for the poor Wesley, knocked out immediately .... and what about Snyder? Figure as a real idiot for him, but we will not cry for him, in short, he had previously expelled poor Buffy!
To definitively win our friend chose to focus on Wilkins' weak point, feelings, in jargon his true affection for Faith, with explosive results! How many of us wanted to blow up the high school after graduation? And what about Jonathan hugging Cordelia?
In the end we have to say goodbye to our dear Angel, ready for his series, and we hope that our dear Buffy will find a new love.
Well, we have finished this wonderful season, and now let's see how Buffy and the Scoobies are doing at university, and who knows what new threats are waiting for them?

Your reactions for season 4 are going to be very interesting. Can't wait to see what you think of it. :) Season 3 as a whole though is my favorite of the high school years and probably at least in my top 3 overall for the 7 seasons. I always have difficulty ranking them though.
Also, yay, Angel! I think I'm even more excited about you starting that. The first season is a bit of a bumpy road, but it'll be worth it. Wish I could say a bit more but you just gotta experience it for yourself. :)

Surprised Angel wasn't fiending for more slayer blood after tasting buffy.
It was just a few episodes back I mentioned people posting bloody spoilers, and they're are getting worse.... I know you haven't been spoiled yourself as of yet, but they are posting them in more detail now and pretty soon you will be spoiled. I'd really look into getting a few moderaters now, just as a precaution. It isn't fair your journey gets ruined because dipshits can't keep the spoilers to themselves.
And I don't mean the comments referencing little key moments or things that are also referenced again at some point, people have done pretty well to keep those as spoiler free as possible.

Lol, she has destroyed a school property 3 times. The school gym in L.A, blew up the whole school here in season 3 and then destroyed the new high school along with the town of Sunnydale with the help of Spike lol.

Maybe I just don't understand people but I still don't get why Angel was wrong for drinking. He tried to deny it. I like Xander but I actually didn't agree with his line there. OR Giles. Sending Angel away when potential attacks could happen seemed unwise. I've never been a fan of Angel until his own show, but in this instance I don't understand why people got upset at him there
Plus I loved the whole gang together (I think for the first time all season). Wesley grew on me over the season too and tried to help. Sorry it didn't work out buddy

By the way, several years ago before this show even aired, I stumbled upon a low- budget gem of a movie called “That Night” starring Eliza Dushku (Faith) when she was just a little girl. so joss wedon put in a lot of hidden messages that he explains in an interview if you bout the dvd but i'm sure can find it online. he talks about the numbers being dates in later seasons or names of people later. things you might forget. You understand it better if you listen to him explain.
And ON go Season 4! This season cops it in the critiques, but for mine, the first half of the S4 is near flawless. It is by far the funniest season of the 7, with the highest of highs and a couple of *really* low lows. And the most milquetoast character in the Buffyverse. Ugh.
