SmallAnt just has such a good note taking system down, it’s won him so many of these randomizer
He’s got a game of chance down to a science
He's pretty familiar with the maps too.
With him, luck is a skill.
Especially compared to pointcrows chicken hand writing in his video where he randomized everything
I imagine having a spredsheet with all loading zones of the games and wariting down where they are going to and organizing along the way would be my first thought. Any clue how he does it?

I really can't put my finger on why I think Flygon's playthroughs seem the best. Maybe its the editing, the comedic timing, the strats.... I've seen a lot of YTers pick this up, but noone with this level of sheer likeability and charm - without ever going over the top.
This shit to me is the adult equivalent of Sunday morning cartoons - incredibly comforting and always a treat to watch!
for me it's him, he is really genuine and chill and I love his energy. I mean I cannot put my finger on too on why he give me this vibes, but surely it's for the personality
its a mix of him being chill, funny without crazy editing, my favourite childhood game and the strats and storyline he comes out with, every video is genuine hard work

Your community is not helpful at all. Joined your discord, everyone actively ignores you when asking advice on how to download the emulator or whatever it is to play the game.
You’d think people would help out, instead you get smart remarks and shunned. I just want advice on how to play on my computer. Haven’t played Pokémon since I was 12, I miss it. This guys discord server isn’t gonna help.

The benefit of a community is being around those that have more experience than you and are willing to share. Ignoring people as well as telling people to “look it up” doesn’t promote a healthy community. Or at least one that I don’t want to be a part of.

It is big brain but also common sense as a lock in the game is due to story or it’s hm related lol

The save state mess ups and the note taking differences make such a huge difference. And smallant baiting out literally the most info from the smallest questions.

So small ant has done a few and knows how to approach the runs. I think the best approach is note taking like point crow ( he had like a spreadsheet and each town and building etc...). And thinking like smallant - getting an Abra, checking behind hms and what not. That being said. That was a Killer second attempt. You didn't do bad at all! Really enjoyed the content
The mom subbing and then you telling her you’re trying to humble him was the funniest two second clip I’ve heard all week
You racing with smallant first is like a scripted boss battle you have to lose in the beginning of some RPGs.

One thing I really like compared to other randomizer map races is how this was two attempts in one video. I think it's interesting to see how strategy changes between attempts

I was thinking that too! That's what I did in my nuzlocke when i encountered Abra as my first one
I love how they both don't know that Dialga and Palkia have one of the highest catch rates out of all Pokemon, let alone Legendaries.
For the Lord Of Time and Lady Of Space, they sure do like being in a Pokeball.
Dialga and palkia have a catch rate of 30 in platinum, which is lower than every future box legendary until sword and shield, and is no where near high compared to many other non legendaries.
@@stigmaoftherose Really? I didn't know that. They're so easy to catch in Platinum that I thought they were some of the easiest Pokemon to catch in the series. That's interesting.
@thefirstcurse3123 legendaries catch rates are really weird, and for the most part every single one prior to dialga and palkia had a rate of 3(besides kyogre and Groupon with a rate of 5) so by comparison they are 10x easier to catch in those games than any past legendaries. However starting in gen 5 almost every box legendary had a rate of 45 and then when they were all re-obtainable in future games they were dropped back to 3 such as in ultra wormholes or soaring above Hoenn.
One other reason is the catch rate formula actually compares max hp to current HP in such a way pokemon with bigger max HP numbers are easier to catch at lower health. So at level 70 their max hp is much higher than most level 50 or 45 legendaries.

Smallant is good and he knows it and he's not afraid to abuse his knowledge to mindgame others, but at the same time he does it in a funny way, not as a way to flex his superiority, I respect that
