- Daewon Song is as technical as it gets in skateboarding, and the way he likes his complete is equally as technical with attention to detail. Check out how Daewon Song rides his front trucks and what sizes he prefers in this Setup.

Music - THE A-TEAM - "SHOW 'EM A BETTER WAY"
the fact that his trucks are THAT loose makes his skating that much more impressive. what a legend
It’s crazy how you wrote this 5 years ago, and now you have over 100k subscribers. Insane
woah what the bmw man likes other wheels too
@@BenDover-zq6ey its crazy how your in every good skate video 😂 goodday sir
@@BenDover-zq6eyjust saw this comment 🤣 hope you are all still skating!
True
He likes bright colors, like "reds, blacks".
Haha I was gonna comment that xD
+Logan Kane Such an interesting guy xD
Reminded me of Marc Johnsons "free lunch" interview. Before explaining something with money he says "let me get a dollar out" I think. Instead pulls a $100.00.
Nirvezz - To be fair he said "Let me pull out a fuckin' bill here", which could be any bill.. there was also a 5 on top from what I can see, but I think he wanted the 100.
But a bright black tho
He’s basically saying that skateboarding is so easy for him that he needs to find ways to constantly challenge himself. Wild.
Same..
i ride -fairly- loose trucks
I ride both of my trucks loose tho, also I use only two hardware bolts per truck, only one bearing per wheel, and also I like to only cover half my board with grip tape. I feel it helps my skating and my shoes don't wear out as fast from doing kick flips down 20 stairs and building rooftops.
lol
I thought you were serious at first lmao
oh yeah, well I ride with no wheels and no sense of humor.
who else thought this was a serious post like 2/3rds the way through lol
@@scambible it was obvious at "one bearing per wheel" XD
skates with no bushings: "yeah you guys should totally try it out.. just take it AS FAST AS YOU CAN DOWN A HILL AND TEST OUT THE WHEEL BITE"
I love Daewon but this guy is crazy to just be saying that so casually I feel like you need to get used to that first lmao
Subtle sense of humor
he was obv joking
@@FredRaclette no he wasn’t
@@FredRaclette he actually was not joking, thats how you test wheelbite correctly lmfao, you dont go 2mph and turn all the way in, at that point your forcing wheelbite, to properly test wheelbite you gotta go fast as shit, and then try to wheelbite, it doesnt work, basically what he is saying is there is a minimum speed for his setup to not get wheelbite, the faster your wheels roll, the more its going to slide on your board, rather than sticking to your board.. make sense?
@@px30silver4ever lol he literally said get wheel bite at the bottom of a hill bomb. he jokingly telling you how to hurt yourself.
Bomb a hill than Try to wheel bite.. I'm think I'm good..
+jared sarroca
LMAO I was thinking the same thing
LMAO
Daewon knew EXACTLY what he was saying.
Second on that lmao
he was joking....i hope lol
"Hit a hill as fast as you can and try to wheel-bite it..." No, I'm good thanks!
haha, yeah, i cant believe he said that, if anyone tries it theyll faceplant pretty hard. no thanks from me too!
No, I wanna- I wanna live
Lmao, I was like wtf, that's a horrible idea, hopefully he was joking.

"Split second to think & then it wheelbites" Dae is fn nuts + skating a 7.7? Most insane setup i knew it Daewon Song tech manual king
The bro has basically taken skateboarding to surfing levels; "I get that split second before it bites"
I have absolutely no clue how he pulls it off with those trucks. This dude is a legend.
that double washer thing on the front truck is crazy! He's clearly a wizard.
That wheel bite is also like a break for him when he needs it. And that kinda makes sense in a weird way no mere mortal can understand. You can tell he uses it when he does crazy reverts that seem impossible.
When I started skating I rode a 7.9 then my next board was an 8.0, then I chipped it pretty bad and replaced it with a fairly new 7.75 board my friend sold me cheap because I couldn't afford a new one at the time. At first I didn't like it and now I skate a 7.63 and I love it. Perhaps it's because I'm a tiny dude, but the length isn't that smaller from boards with bigger widths... I dunno, but it just feels so much easier and comfortable for me to skate.
+TechMechMen I should take my 7.75 out of retirement lol. I rode a 7.5, then a 7.75, now an 8. I use the 7.5 as a backup since it has wheels on it, but despise riding that thing. Not sure how a 7.75 would feel now, I guess I'll ride it next week or something xD, put my 8.0 board's wheels on them and try to do some stuff.
"hit a hill as fast as you can and try to get wheelbite"
I don't think black is a bright colour
Its not even a color :D
He didn't say it was. He said he likes bright colors, red and black.
@@Terra101 it is, don’t hit us with the “absence of light” schtick
I don't think you understood what he said either smh.
@@nehemiahzo_ It's the.....
ABSENCE OF LIGHT!
"fairly loose"
sagar gurung
You're Mums? lol jk dude...
Fairly loose my ass. Those things are about to fall off lol but still one of my favorite skaters. Daewon's skills are insane.
i actually tried it out today and it was just awesome, will continue skating like this.
amazing how you can see personality through someones skateboard!
After seeing that front truck, every trick he did in the rest of the video I could not stop looking at the front truck to see if it helps him turn better or gets really close to wheel bite.
The loose trucks isn't a bad idea at all it's pretty great I've been riding them like that a little over a month and I love it
He can tell a difference between 7.6 and 7.7 decks and 50 mm and 51 mm wheels...dude
Dont forget the pair of top washers on front too 😁
i can tell the diff between 51 and 50s too easily
Hey man he still killing it on skateboarding
I actually do the Daewon truck thing :) i love it :)
I know it's really cool
Connor Beadle yeah man, like when you're doing manny's you can hear that jiggle and sometimes you could see it swerve around haha i rarely do it now tho, i get WAAAY more pop when my trucks are tight. i would do that when im doing like little lines on manny pads xD
Seb Dizon the jiggle is the best
Connor Beadle hahha ikr duuuude... (hahhaa double meaning eh? HAHAH))
i see what you did there
***** yup hahaha but in my opinion, it's all personal taste
Big up to the A TEAM! dope ass underground hip hop group from the early 2000s!
In a world where people ride 8.5 and 8.375 theres Daewon who rides a classic 7.7. Thats awesome
drakeistheeggman Makes sense though as he is more a tech skater
or Andy Anderson and his 9" lmao
still mad respect for Daewon though, small boards rock
He must have smaller feet, I always rode 7.75, but after starting up again I went to an 8.0, I wear size 12 shoe though. I think there's no good reason(other than vert)for anyone to skate bigger than an 8.0, bigger than that is just cheating.
@@Lazy_Prophet or 6'2 and size 14 feet lol. I dont get wheel bite i get foot bite on boards to narrow... haha big people problems
@Juanjo Diaz possibly. But daewon song Tech is on a whole nother level from Chris Cole's Tech .
Dawon song the best skater in the world! Thumbs Up
that's some crazy ass set up
I skate with my trucks like that and it actually helps on some tricks. It's like a double sided blade, good and bad sometimes. Helps me learn how to have better balance on manuals and riding switch :)
this guy´s balance is just so impressive
On High trucks, the "pinch point" with the two washers actually prevents wheelbite completely.
Different strokes for different folks. He has skills without a doubt.
ocd and with a sense of humor. awesome.
Daewon is a straight up magician
I love his humor.
Taking the bearings out one of your wheels is rad awesome too
“I ride my trucks fairly loose”
*rides without bushings”
Wish there was a Rodney Mullen setup.
Hahah...."Yeah so try it out... test it out. Hit a big hill, fullspeed and try to wheel-bite at the bottom of it..." I love you Daewon.
OMG!!! thats why his board makes a rattle sound!! i watch some berrics vids of him and in both vids i heard a weird rattling noise when he skated and wonder why! now i know, its the washers in his trucks
I should try the trucks thing because the should then make you skate absolutely like DAEWON SONG! u and Rodney are the very best ever
He should be in BATB
Wheelbite is when the wheels touch the deck (wooden part), usually from a trick landed with too much pressure on one side.
One of my Fave skaters. Im the exact same height and weight as him. I just set up a 7.6 Almost Impact. His front truck is insanely loose!
That truck set up on the front is whacked out.
And I thought my trucks were loose being just finger tightened dam big ups to him.
It's not fair how good he is
I used to ride a skateboard size 7.7 when i was a kid, never thought about it until now but i've been riding a size 8 for years. When my board breaks i'm definitely going back to 7.7 or 7.6 just to make it easier to flip
best setup video
daewon is sick.
he actually takes the time to sit down and really explain it.
most people just tell you what they have.
plus all the tricks he did in the video were FUCKED!
Dam that is crazy the way he has the trucks unreal
It pisses me off how good of a skater Daewon is....
David Rubianes
Let that hate become skate =)
Daewon YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!
I tried the top washer thing and it is awesome. But I'll keep it normal
Having such a loose front truck would probably help get into crooked grinds or nose grinds. Though guess the wheel would bite pretty hard doing them 🤔
thank god wheel bite is irrelevant while the wheels are off the ground. Have you ever seen a solid crook where wheel and board didn't make contact?
Those trucks are rad!
this is the craziest setup i've come across
Man i wish they would go more in depth like wheel hardness and wheel shape. How am I supposed to do nollie tre nose mannies nollie tre out like daewon if I don't have his EXACT set up...
haha its funny how the front trucks move so much at 0:08 when he says "it's my setup"
I've never seen anyone ride trucks even close to that loose. That's nuts
amazing setup!
I tried it with one loved it with two even better this is what I do with all my trucks now
I tried my trucks like that. It was fun but switched them back to how I had them before becuase I got wheel bite so many times. Might try it again tomorrow
2:27 is effin insane.. absolute legend
he has problems with nollie back heels yeah right I skated with him a couple of times at paramount and hes done that trick first go. But hes a really nice and humble guy. You dont get that with to many pros.
i like to challenge myself too, that's why i inverted my trucks and always ride my deck upside down
I ride FAIRLY loose trucks..... Gtfoh daewon 😂
You guys should try it. I did it made my kickflips cleaner
Wtf really I ride loose but not Daewon song loose
actually i tried that thing he does with the trucks and it helps really well
"I like bright colors."
Wheres everything black.
Wears*
@@TheEchelon bro that was 6 years ago
His. Trucks. Are. Hella. WOBBLY!!!!! Oh and I like bright colors too.
i tryed to skate with a front truck without a bushing it feels so strange but it is a new lvl for u its harder to do you're tricks but u will be still enable to do them.
He gets the loose truck award
Hell yes bomb down a hill with those trucks. That shit is fun as fuck. Thanks Dae
'I like bright colours. You know i like red, black' something wrong there
the man. the legend
okay i actually didnt know that he only does his front truck like that, i legit thought he had both trucks like that for the longest time XD thats still insane, but less insane than i used to think
Damn that's crazy, I have to use hard bushings cranked down, I dont know how people skate with their board so friggin squirrelly.
I skate tight trucks, 54 mm wheels, and 1/8 shock pads/soft risers
For me it feels like the board doesn’t work if its not loose. I have way more pop with tight trucks but any type of board rotation is out the window
I ride loose Ace 44s with soft bushings
@@BlackLightning522 lol, crazy to me, don't know how you do it. Although I do gotta say loose trucks make some tricks & landings look kinda shitty, cause you can just turn out of them instead of landing clean like with tight trucks. Just imo though. Those Aces are pretty strange looking trucks, they look like they'd break easy for some reason.
thats so crazy on his truck set up
I guess fairly loose to me and not rocking a top bushing is the same thing? lol I skate my trucks so tight.
the last trick blew my head off
If anyone is asking what's his hardware company it's diamond he recently got on the team
ok thanks
They filmed this at South Park. Me and my friend has skate vids there on my channel :)
Badass setup!!!
Deck: Sk8mafia 8x32
Trucks: Independent S-11 Forged Hollow 139mm
Wheels: Spitfire Formula-Four 51mm
Bearings: Bones Reds
Hardware: Diamond Hella Tight Hardware 7/8
Griptape: MOB Grip
Shoes: DC Nyjah-Hi
Miscellaneous: Wheel graphic facing in, Bearing shields popped, 2 gold hardware bolts in front trucks.
hate sk8mafia, mine chipped like crazyy, fuck that
Do those boards have good pop :o
kaleb775 fuck noo, soft as shit
who gives a fuck lmao
I feel so much better about my grip job now
Daewon skates a 7.7 size deck, so its really close to 7.75. Hoped this helped.
I have a pretty average shoe size and even I ride an 8.5 at least. I get a smaller board is easier to flip and move but the stability of a wide board is my main concern, especially being a ramp guy.
check out matt rodriguez's set up crazy loose trucks as well
I once relaxed my hardcore hard bushings by 2 turns (from extra tight to not so extra tight) and I died.......When I resurrected, I tight them trucks back....
so that's one the secret of one of the skate gods
I wish all pro's had a little more of an idea about their setup like the way Daewon does
Hmm, I'm pretty sure all pros know how they like their board setup.
Daewon Song is a God !!
He is the legend!!! Nice board and he just followed me on twitter ^^V Thanks Daewon Song :D
I tried riding my trucks like that it ruins alot of tricks and i like gaos so this would be bad for me but i did it to my cruiser and im keeping it its soooo mich fun
i ride tensor mid with both bushing's and i set it loose but i never have wheel bite coz i ride 49mm wheels
Wtf? I don't even think my trucks are that loose when my bushings break! 😂😂😂
wheres mullen? does he skate still??
I always rode a 7.75 board and back then everyone said it was huge. Nowadays people think an 8 is small.
An 8 is the best.
I ride both trucks like his front trucks
