@@bookemdanno5596 Not really. Goering was essentially useless. Any information he had was wrung out of him in interrogation. His reputation was based more on his own PR than reality, which is apparent from the state of the Luftwaffe at the end of the war. The pompous ass was more trouble than he was worth. Jodl was a decent military administrator, but we already had plenty of those, and like Keitel, we needed a name to put on the scaffold. What doomed him was the Commissar Order and POW Order he signed. Without that he might have served 20 years or so.

Red eye ... my pops was in the Aluetians too. Same time ! He ended up being a litteral " cold warrier". At wars end he was suited for the Arctic and found himself in Thule Greenland . There he helped field the BMEW radar and NIKE ZUES ( I THINK) lines. Eventually his expertise was construction of the decoy Camp Century whilst fully committed to Project Iceworm . He finally returned stateside during the mid sixties as we aquainted ourselves. I was 16. On his deathbed he litterally told me of ICEWORM and his secret life under the ice. His was a life dedicated to American security by 20 years of estrangement as a cost to himself and family. Silent warrior. He made sure we all knew, it was him go to war or he watches his mother brother and father die then he'd be gutted.
He joined and about a year later he got hit by a Shrapnel, grenade. Was left for dead by an ss unit then an American unit saved his life when they found im he was in bad shape (you could see the war in his face at 80years old) ,he then was placed in a pow camp then released and moved to Canada.

The sad irony is that Russian Generals ordered the murder of Germans and their own soldiers. They got off scot-free in this world. The NKVD murdered untold thousands of Russians, and the way they slaughtered political prisoners at the beginning of Operation Barbarossa is reprehensible. The actions of the Partisans were horrific.
The sad thing was that many of the SS soldiers murdered in the camps were recent replacements and not the ones who had committed the crimes. I do not condone the murder of anyone but to ignore the action of the Allies is not honest. Tito's partisans would have slaughtered a unit of Cossacks fighting for the Germans if the Americans had not intervened. It is not common knowledge that there were 50,000 Cossack men women and children forcibly repatriated to the Russians and as the American and British drivers were going over the bridge they heard the machine guns firing and slaughtering those who were handed over.

@F1REPROOFED those numbers are arbitrary. I can find different numbers, lots of different numbers. Whether it's only atrocities in ww2 or all time. I will say that China under Mao and ussr under stalin are among the top most of the time, for all time. People forget how bad the Japanese were to chinese, asians, and prisoners of war during the war. They were arguably as bad as the Germans, if not worse. If you take regimes over their full length that they were in power, I guess I can get on board. But I believe this video was about ww2 and thats how I was looking at this subject. I believe that the major axis powers, Germany and Japan, were worse than the soviets. The soviets were bad but they also had been invaded. In the context of ww2, the soviets were marginally better than the axis. The eastern front was horrific and both sides were terrible to the other sides civilians and pow's. I'd say for someone to say the ussr is worse, they're splitting hairs or are so anti hammer and sickle that they can't say anything but the worst about them. You know why I call it hammer and sickle? You tube won't let me say the c word. I get into too many arguments with modern day ones and maybe you tube sides with them.

Czech civilians behaved terribly towards ethnic germans post war. They were just as bad as the germans and the bloody retribution carried on unabated into the late 40s.
What sticks in my mind is the way they treated orphaned children. They were left to fend for themselves in the woods and ruined buildings..worse awaited those taken into the same concentration camps vacated by the Nazis.
Nobody came out of ww2 with clean hands..
It gives us a good idea of how people will behave during and after the next war. Don't think we have seen the last of war. It's just a matter of time before the next one.

Anyone who seen pictures of Dresden after the bombing can plainly see theres no way only 25,000 were killed. In the korean war they did the same thing but was able to keep it under wraps a lot better. But they just systematically started bombing cities clearly just trying to kill as many civillians as possible. Then they did the same thing to Laos. Did you know per capita Laos has been the most heavily bombed country by the usa ever? And the usa has never been at war with freaking Laos. Its a landlocked tiny 3rd world country on the other side of the planet. What on earth could possibly justify such nonsense? Then during the Vietnam war the us bombed Cambodia (a non combatant). Targeting not only its cities but they also napalmed their rice fields causing mass starvation and giving rise to Pol Pot (who the us supported) and the Khmer Rouge. I could go on and on. Lol "moral high ground" like the allies knew anything about morality. Also its not future ignorance. Its elimination of past ignorance by information sharing. Only a d d d would think things went down the way the allies claim. It was the allies (mainly the usa) whose sole tactic was murdering as many civilians as possible. Not germany or japan. Even at pearl harbor they didnt target civilians. But cowardly usa only targeted defenseless civilians. Wake-up and get off your high horse.

War crimes is something that every nation involved in the fighting has thier incidents. For instance, in the air war over Western Europe, American fighter pilots were known for shooting German pilots in their parachutes, in particular in the later part of the war when the Luftwaffe began fielding jet fighter units. It was known that the jet pilots were the elite of German fighter pilots, in many cases, top scoring aces with more than 100 kills. The Allied air forces wanted these men killed, as they were tearing swaths through the bomber formations.
