I'm 27 years old and I still remember my childhood playing this wonderful game. Now I keep watching this video to put a smile on my face. Because I will never forget how this game always made me smile. My dad bought this game for me because he thought that I was too much in "girl world",because I just played Barbie games and stuff. He was right. This game saved me.
Anyone want to answer some of the questions from the books? For example: 1. The men saw themselves in the well. How were they able to do that? Answer: Because the water in the well is reflective, like a mirror. 2. The wash had tomato spots on it. How did the spots get there? Answer: Remember the mysterious person from last night? That was actually the wash. So the spots came from the man throwing tomatoes at the “person”. 3. Sam pretended to be a snowman. Why did Mat pull on the snowman’s tail? Answer: She obviously knew there was something off about the snowman. 4. What do you think you would find in a cave? Answer: Rocks, crystals, water, and cave creatures such as bats. 5. All the friends ran fast. Who do you think won the race? Answer: Most likely Ann since her nose is very close to the finish line. 6. What do you think Buster would do if he fell through the ice? Answer: Transform into a boat or a submarine. 7. Mat built snowshoes and a sled. Why did the sled help Sid? Answer: It was strong enough to carry him. 8. How do you think the cactus scored? Answer: It used its needles to its advantage. 9. What makes you feel rich? Answer: entertainment 10. Buster won the race, and mat was next. Why was Sam mad at mat? Answer: Apparently he’s accusing her of cheating. 11. What kind of home do you think mat would like? Answer: Probably an underground home, which is where mice usually live. 12. Mat’s kite got stuck in a bush. What happened next? Answer: Ann probably spat the kite out and apologized to mat for what she did.
Thanks for uploading this. This game really helped me as a child with understanding everything (I have Autism). I love all the Reader Rabbit games and miss them!! =)
whoever did the background art for this game did a great job! I loved this game when I was a kid. My parents would have me read some of the physical books when I would go to bed.
I think it defined my love for pixel art to this day, and a fascination with landscapes specifically. I would spend hours wondering what I'd find if I could explore off the margins of the screen.
Gosh I would play this in the library every morning at Elementary I hate being an adult sometimes because you have such great memories when you were a child
I just love this game so much I watched the entire video including all the stories and the credits and everything without realizing I hadn't moved for two and a half hours
I remember playing this when I was four and I would always love to click everything! 😍😍 this brings back so many memories and I'm so glad u posted this!!!
Near the end of the game, we're told that Sam is looking for his imagination. But what's so troubling about this premise is its morbid implication: that Sam may not have an imagination at all. Would this lack of imagination constitute for disclosure of legal disability?
Also, in a couple of the stories, Reader Rabbit and his friends recklessly endanger themselves, with Buster rescuing them immediately before certain doom. Will Buster get tired of this? Will he eventually break down? Should Reader Rabbit even go out on trips like these, especially being unable to consider his safety?
Oh man I remember playing this as a kid on our home computer! It was really fun, and almost magical, because I had not become jaded about computers yet!
Watching the end of this saga is just as epic as the first time I played this thing through. I wanted there to be a sequel for this so badly... guess I'll just have to use my imagination.
Ahoyhoy! just reminiscing of how much scarier things such as that macabre limb that reaches out from that gold urn is when an individual sees things that frightened them over a decade later. this, and the Phil Hartman lamp from the Brave Little toaster really mortified me as a wee tyke! now I adore the chill I get from that film! my true favourite picture of 1987!
@@pdsd2397 Me, too! About getting the syllables wrong and the announcer saying "Ohh, I'm sorry", I love the sound of all trap door sounds. That's hilarious. 😄
The bridge part doesn't look the same unless I choose the wrong word on purpose for the fun of it. Sam's facial expressions that he make when you screw up are funny
Ahoyhoy! eureka! I've found this nostalgic CD ROM! I have purchased pretty darn close to 7 other learning lagamorph games in hopes that when I got home the next one would be the one I was seeking. I rather appreciate your little video here.
I remember in one of Mitt the Monkey's sections in one of these Reader Rabbit games, once I'd choose the right pots or whatever, his head shrunk for a couple seconds.
I’m 22 years old and my brain references this game on a regular basis throughout my day to day experiences 😂 (it’s like the game literally shaped my view of reality). I used to play it every day when I was in day care and elementary school.
This game was the worst. The "Ohhhhh I'm sorry" is scared into my brain. I'm dyslexic which is defined as a *phonological* impairment. My parents just thought if I practised phonics more my dyslexia would be cured, so they insisted I play this over and over. So many tears. Turns out nope dyslexia doesn't work like that. It's forever. This game did force me to learn to how to cheat to mask my dyslexia well enough from neurotypicals.
One thing still baffles me to this day since childhood. "The end of our journey is here, But it might be the start Of something new and wonderful, If we can find the spark." What does it mean?
I first played this game, when I was a kid at the age of 8. Ever since I was in 2nd grade at Wells Elementary School, back in Plano, Texas. And again, at the age of 11, when I was in 5th grade at NCE (Nottingham Country Elementary School), which is closer to where I live, here in Katy, Texas. You also forgot to click on the pictures in the books to color them, especially when you read them.
THIS IS IT. OMG I remember when I was in first grade I saw this in my teachers room, and I asked if I could have it for the summer and she said as long as I gave it back when the next school year came around. Let’s just say I never gave it back.

I also had autism, but it was a lot more severe when I was young
I have autism, too.

What does Reader Rabbit mean by "find the Spark" in the very end of the game? It baffles me even to this day.
They're dead and the game revolved around Sam's journey into Heaven (hence the cloud castle). The imagination thing is just a metaphor.
