Merry Christmas Karl, hope you and the family have a great time. Peace and love and a big "Thank You", as you are my greatest inspiration. You're advice and confidence got me on the water. After being diagnosed with COPD. Nothing is impossible thanks to you and your channel.
The boat cam works well now you've moved the aerial over. Good idea on the powered heated blanket as they're low wattage. Loved the owl hooting and didn't even see your lips move Carl. Lovely little trip out. Merry Christmas 🎄
Only thing not magical about a roaring campfire in winter is how cold your back and crack can get while your face and hands crisp up to a fine Magaluf-style tan 🤣 When the floods happen around Cas/Ferrybridge/Selby i've always wanted to take the kayak out, but never had the balls to do it on my own. And even though I've been quite happy swimming in the river at places like Collingham or Skipton, and in reservoirs up over Sheffield and the peaks, for some reason I find the eerie murky depths of canals and particularly the Aire & Calder rivers as they head out of Wakie/Leeds towards Cas/Beal/Birkin terrifying, even though i've fished them from the banks in the past and understand their depths and profiles and have kayaked Selby canal and some of the Went and its tributaries multiple times. Its a real phobic fear, where I cant quite relax into it, set against the backdrop of an indescribable sense of wanting to be closer to the nature and the perspective of the river in the silence that the kayak or canoe allows. Its probably mental trauma due to the horrific stories I was told as a kid about the under-currents and kids jumping off the old iron bridges and getting swept under uncontrollably to their mortal end, and programs like 9-9-9 and its horrible soul altering theme tune hahaha! You sound local-ish to me by your dialect. If you're ever out over this way in (slightly) warmer water season, I'd love to have some zen lessons in becoming peaceful and at one with the canal 😂😂 Top notch video, looking forward to more as always!
@@ScottWilson1984 cheers 👍 I think it's always wise to be cautious where water is concerned and the more it moves, the more cautious one should be. I'm based in York. Whereabouts are you?
I can hear a bit of queen's English around the Yorkshire slang, I was thinking Harrogate, but York makes sense 😂 I'm just up the road from Ferrybridge, but spend a lot of time over Selby/Aberford/Wetherby way walking dogs, so not too far from you if yer ever fancy a paddle and a chat!
Cracking idea for the drone boat… can get into places you can’t for exploring. You didn’t say what output the power bank was. Looking towed to the other reviews. Have a great Christmas and fab New Year 🙏
Cheers Caz 👍😁 thanks for reminding me about the power station, it's 600w. I've now added links in the pinned comment and description 👍😁 Seasons greetings and all that jazz 🎅🌲🎁☃️
Love the drone boat idea. I wonder if the aerial could be detached, extended and popped on top of the camera to keep it out of shot. Maybe a little remote controlled rotator for the camera too? That said, I struggle with the five controls on my drone so controlling the drone boat, the camera and the kayak simultaneously might be a stretch. 😀 The lock at Naburn was the same the other week and the weir was almost level. We've certainly had a lot of rain recently. With that level of flooding I would end up paddling across the fields 😀
@ you could get me into trouble with your toy reviews, I’m trying to convince the Mrs my drainage company needs a Dji Mini 4 pro but she’s not playing ball 😂
Hello Karl. Me and her indoors watch all of your videos and have just go the Halve. Review on my RUclips channel coming soon. We wanted it for the ultra light weight and intend taking it on a plane to Skiathos etc. The instructions say 8psi in the floor. I have many pumps but wanted to use the included pump as it looks good for air travel. We could only get the floor to 4 psi according to the gauge and it felt quite solid. I fear 8 psi on the floor is way too much and not even achievable with that pump. Have you ever pumped the floor to 8 psi ? Regards Dennis
