All Carhartt has really gone to crap since they went international.
I don't buy their stuff anymore.
i was hoping they were USA but China
Wouldnt bother buying anything made by Carhartt after their recent decisions, the low quality of these gloves just goes to show the company is going downhill.
I sent them an email letting them know that I will not purchase any of their merchandise anymore due to their mandate policy .
@@mikec.8556 what’s the mandate policy? I buy carhart wip are they following suit with what I don’t know?
TBH I would’ve thought carhartt would charge at least triple for those gloves. Just like YETI, you’re only purchasing a brand name, NOT a quality product!
Facts. Got these gloves a a present and they suck all around. 4 days and they still won't dry out.
Great info Randall, thanks again. 👍🧤
Great tips Randell
I recently Got a pair of warm hiking "gloves" from Decathlon. They are wind proof with a fleece lining. What's great about them is not only are they warm (I just used them down to the low teens on a weekend trip, but they are convertible mittens. You can flip back the mitt, which stays in place due to a magnet, and there is also a slot in the thumb so you can have full dexterity for various tasks. Put on thin merino wool liners and I am fair sure the would keep my hands warm to 0°
Yeah, I bought a pair of these about a month ago, and I have to agree about the (lack of) warmth. These really are better suited to Autumn than Winter, IMHO. For short periods (15 minutes or less), I found them adequate to about 25F. Not great, but adequate. The day I wore them in single digit weather, my fingers were getting chilly in about 5 minutes.
My other complaint is that they're kind of awkward and bulky to do anything requiring fine motor control. They're fine for holding a rake or shovel, but try to change the radio station in your car or set the cruise control with them on, argh!
Yea, no dexterity, so you have to remove your hadsy
Randall thank you for looking out for us
Yeah...I hate when the liner pulls out when your hands get sweaty.
One of these days I'll pick up some of those army surplus mittens.
Thanks Randall. I have some NATO winter gloves that are good in freezing temps and wind. Wore them recently with windchill in the teens and they were warm. Haven’t tested them for waterproofing yet. I have the surplus trigger mittens from the 60’s with 70/30% wool liners for extreme cold, not that we get much here in coastal Alabama, although it’s getting there this week. Got all these for a super good price a while back from Sportsman’s Guide. I took to heart what you said about surface area in your previous video so I’ll be looking at mittens for wearing when dexterity isn’t a big issue. Looking forward to Feb. 5th.
I'll have to check them out
As an old gunner and now winter ATV driver, I've learned that gloves cannot stop 30+ MPH winds
I use army wool glove liners (full fingers) and Marmot PreCip Shell Mitts (I don’t endorse them or anything) over those With sales prices, all for under $30. They work great for me. So warm in wind and shoveling snow. The Marmot shells run super small. They do have a fleece liner inside though. I’m 5’8” and got an XL mitt
Cool
I have a set of water/wind proof Gortex gloves and liners I bought when stationed in the mountains of Germany. What you need are the combat mittens waterproof wind proof those are the best.
Good video , thanks for sharing ,God bless !
what waterproof spray do you use?
I bought those "GIVE'R" super insulated gloves. Around $150.00. Wear them with your hand in boiling water, hold onto dry ice all day, etc. Total CRAP! Do not waste your money. They were colder than a cheap $5 leather with 40gm thinsulate that you see everywhere. They are super stiff and bulky. Even after hours of wearing them inside to break them in (as per their directions). I got suckered. Please don't make my mistake.
I bought the same pair a few weeks back because they said waterproof as i work with water outside year round. First day hands froze and started getting wet, by the end of the week they were ripped open and useless. The ballistic gloves they sell help up better similar price.
I have the women's version all they changed was velcro instead of a buckle and is cheaper they are a pain to get on and off even when dry gonna get a pair of mittens also looking at the military issue artic mittens also my liner slides too
The FRABILL gauntlet styled fishing gloves are the best! I wore them in the oilfield for the crazy stupid cold weather. The coldest i remember using them, was at -43°. My hands were warm and my feet were warm (arctic boots rated for -60°).... but the rest of me was cold.
Interesting
thanks for the info, I've never been a fan of carthart for numerous reasons
Great content as always 😀👊👊👍👌
Thanks!
I waterproofed the outers on the thinsulate work gloves so we will see how it goes I used the Birchwood Casey silicon
I have gone through a lot of Carhartt gloves, they don't seem to last long.
Best winter gloves I have (forget the brand) were free, one pair I found on the side of the road after someone else lost them. The other pair I got from a girlfriend who found them in a thrift store she worked at.
I froze my hands in the Bakken. The best gloves I found so far are UA Sideline. If it's -10 or if I'm out for a while I add UA glove liners.
The mechanic tactical sub 20 gloves are great gloves...keep you finger warm and dry...besides Carhartt sucks now anyway
I have tried some Carhartt mitts in the past couple months. They are good to -40° so far. I'll definitely stay away from those gloves though.
Water proof is important with heavy condensation on those PBR cans . Have a great evening
gave up on the carhartt crap years ago. Helly hansen outdoor gear. Never been much for wearing gloves but in South Dakota there are times you need them.
Totally agree with USA Carhart but I don’t feel the same with the WIP as there gloves are total quality.
Any recommendations?
A lot of us will no longer be buying anything from carthart !
Even when working in a heavy-carhartt field, I never understood the hype.
Better off getting the flyer gloves the intermediate cold Weather ones HAU-15/P style
FYI there Nomex too if you play with fire!!!
Got recommend these by a friend I flat out told em naw they ain't winter gloves lo an behold ya make a video ragging on em. Lmao thanks for the amazing content.
Thanks!
Yeah, I got a pair for Xmas and they’re trash. I just keep them as extras in my truck for emergencies.
i have carhartt gloves they suck a little moisture and they are useless, thought about just using military liners and those rubber coated industrial gloves
Hey, friend, how are you? The scenery there is really nice. It's already winter in my hometown. Why is it autumn in your hometown?
What do you recommend??? can't wear mittens and shoot a bow... I wear army wool liners inside basspro fleece gloves to hunt. My hands sweat. Most glove I have hand sweat and now wet. the wool/fleece allow my hands to breath.dry.
best to carry an extra pair, there are also silky liners that help with sweat
@@chillios2222 I do and have the silk liners also. I just found the old fashion "cheap" army wool liner are the best. I have access to base exchanges.
@@outdoorswithcam cant go wrong with wool , wool socks also work over the hands
I've found my Helly Hansen impact protected gloves with Thinsulate are alright. I actually have tried some Carhartt mitts for a couple months and they're good to -40° so far. As mentioned you're looking for gloves though. I'll try to find a model of those HH.
I used to layer up gloves when I worked construction. Nowadays due to an injury I'm a security officer. My current posting is lots of standing and walking around in the elements. Here the temperature goes from +40°C in summer to below -45°C winters.
The model:
HHF199287M
I don't think this company will have a problem trying to sell these gloves because in a couple months they won't be around.
😂😂
Love the intro :)
I only buy wool gloves full hats unfortunately it's being more of a pain in the butt to find good wool
The Condor "surplus" style wool inserts are great and I got mine for about $2. They also have a bit more elastane in them, unlike the Army wool inserts, so they fit a lot better.
Just buy military wool snow gloves ..... Amazon ..... McGuire army-navy..... $10.99
i have the Carhart leather with thinsulate, good at a cold football game, I can post video
I always saw Carhartt as a 'Hillbilly chic' brand. Not suprised by this.
Honestly that was not my experience. I had a pair of the brown ones 26.99 from Amazon hunting (not moving) from a blind and kept my hands warm for 4-6 hours in snowy wet sub 20 degrees temps. The liner is annoying with the wrist cuff fingers can be hard to get “set” in the liner and size does run small. it takes many times putting the gloves on and off and a kind of twisting motion to work the fingers into the liner for the transition to work better. Definitely not good to go right off the shelf / out of the box
Fair enough
I have had those gloves for over a year. I use them 12 hours a day in under 0 degree weather 5 days a week. Mostly the temperature is between 10-20 degrees but like I said sometimes it will drop under 0. They keep my hands super toasty. If I didn't have these gloves my hands wouldn't last 5 minutes out of them. Maybe you have bad circulation.
Of course. Could also be that I'm from MS 😂 But let's see a demonstration of you getting them back on with wet hands! Thanks
I could of really used this video a month ago:/ luckily I’m not alpine bound in the winter.
Kinco gloves are tough and don't compress down to nothing once you grab a cold piece of equipment. Best gloves I've owned.
Cool
I have a pair of Spada winter mitts intended for motorcycle riding, cost me about £30 a couple years ago and they're still going strong, I lost them to a goddaughter who bought a pair of skiing gloves for riding her 400cc scooter to work in the UK winter 🤣
Cool
Good to know the gloves don't match their advertising. We hardly get below 20F degrees around here, so a good surplus wool glove insert is great and I wear a waterproof mitt over mine. For our typical 30F-35F wet snow and rain I wear the fish factory ship blue gloves, totally waterproof and windproof with the liner. Don't know what I'd do in -20F, probably Icelandic or Austrian boiled wool mittens and maybe an overmitt.
I could swear you had a video like this a year or two ago.
Me too. Pretty sure this is a re-upload.
Yes. Less than 2% saw it because of the YT shenanigans
Let's Go Carhartt 👎
😂😂
Yep
And the Bibs And Coats have all went to Shit Also
Seems like Carhartt is gonna be SOL pretty soon bc the u knw what ???
Will never buy anything carhartt again after their recent enforcement of unconstitutional mandates.
So….you have a problem getting your hands into tight wet spaces…🤣😂🤣
For the most part, carhartt is getting by on reputation, which isn’t necessarily deserved on im guessing half the shit they sell. Have a pair of carhartt gloves, they are good for walking my kid to school, or maybe shoveling snow on colder days. As gloves go, the problem with them in general, is that freaking liner that just about ever brand puts in them. Yep, even mechanix insulted glove’s. I keep going back to my size 3 wool glove inserts. They warm your hands, and have no liner to stick to your hand. I’ll still use oversized leather gloves over the top of them. Old school is the best school.
In my civilian job it's all Carhartt and yes, all I see is marketing
a lot I would ( think ) is China, the thinsulate gloves which are China I believe are o.k.
Fleece Fails
It seems like Carhartt is just another hipster clothing brand at this point. I don't see actual workers wearing Carhartt clothes very often anymore.
Dejavu.
😂 yea but only to about 2% of you! Thanks
@@GruntProof yeah bud.
Carhartt don't get one penny of my money. I don't care if everything they made was perfect in every possible way, I still won't buy their products. I have my reasons.
I'm with you brother . F/k Carhartt
I got the message, Grunt (Randall,) but the backlighting in the video was a bychhe.
that's the problem with beautiful sunsets: you need an extra light on you
@@GruntProof Was still a bycche to look at. A little bit would have done it. For innnerstance: I could NOT see the “lip” you were talking about, and that would have helped. PS: I’m subscribed. Oh…PS: I had a pair of $2 wool mittens and they were great; dog ate one of them.
X2, I’m blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night. At 01:44 you look like Satan……
Next time face the sun not with your back to it.
👍👍
👍👍👍👍👍✌️
These gloves suck. Bought a xl got home couldn't even get the other one on. Had to go back to the store lost my receipt so I had to swap for a XXL. If you buy these buy one size up or else you won't even be able to get the other glove on
