- MUSIC TELLS THE STORY...
"Track 06 - Robo vs. ED-209"
aus dem Original Soundtrack von "RoboCop" (1987),
Komponist: BASIL POLEDOURIS
"...Poledouris' music manages to evoke themes of sacrifice and redemption that are as old as the Bible, yet infuse them with a cold detachment that suggests a future of uncertain humanity." --Jerry McCulley

I love the "abominable mechanical Frankenstein" sense of that music. Like it's this giant deformed, evil, uncontrollable, unstoppable, unthinking, unfeeling monstrosity that's gone wildly out of control. BRUN-DUN DUN BRUN-DUN DUN BRUN-DUUNN, BRUN-DUN DUN BRUN-DUN DUN BRUN-DUUNN
"I had to kill Bob Morton because he made a mistake. Now it's time to erase that mistake."
A great soundtrack to a great movie classic of powerful subliminal messages.
: )
I agree! This is definitely a classic!
This track really captures the terror and urgency of the scene. Wish more composers knew how to convey emotion through music like Basil.
yeah
Lycan Seijin i guess John willaims doesn't exist
are you shore , all composers do capture emotion but they mostly go for something new and not try to copy one another , I see what you mean, but people complain about Hans Zimmer for not being like this type of music and not having a melody , but his music is not meant to be this style but his own and it has melody but in a different way , Danny elfmans work is fantastic and nearly every score that elfman composed you can tell its him , by hearing bits of his score to the hulk , to Spiderman and dick Tracy and batman. and now some reason people make a fight between Danny and Hans even though their talent and tone of music are very different and it makes it unique and not something to be make a fight over ,
Get Hedgecock on the line! There's trouble in the tower!
Basil Poledouris was a genius, RIP
This part always used to freak me out as a kid. Very powerful movie. Thanks for sharing!
OMG this music, great part in Robocop, I love that funny part that ED-209 falls in the stairs and "cries" thats sounds like a baby or a cat trying to get up. XD
I saw Overkill last night in pittsburgh! They played this track before there first song!
Congratulations!;-) ...greetings to the states...
I recall the ED-209 roaring like a jaguar when it first appears.
And another thing: Why the hell can't it climb down stairs? What is it, a cow?
And then Mr. Whats-his-face talks about it being used for military. I don't see how. Unless they're invading the Salar de Uyuni they're screwed. [Forced smiley face]
Robocop is badass
Love it. Classic. Forever.
Still one of the most intimidating and original robots ever put to the big screen~ backed by the fantastic score really brings the dread of being outmatched by this lumbering monstrosity that is ED-209 Xx
until he encounters...the stairs.

Now this is how a score is supposed to sound! I love the urgency of from 1:11-1:30...I'm so sick of the lackluster remakes and lame scores...This would be awesome in a new Superman movie:)
Always remember Overkill using this track to come on stage to :D Great upload. Thanks
This is my favorite OST in the whole movie. Thank you!
Lance Curry LOVE ROBOCOP DEAD OR ALIVE YOU ARE COMING WITH ME
*DICK JONES:* I had to kill Bob Morton because he made a mistake. Now it's time to erase that mistake.

Sounds like a mini-boss theme in a video game, I love it
I just play it everytime I encounter Sectopods when playing UFO:Enemy Unknown
Plays when you fight ED-209...
0:50 to 1:03 is fuckin amazing to me. On the old VHS copy that I had (and still have) back in the days you couldnt even hear that part. I tried to play the movie while listening to the soundtrack and it makes a hell of a difference. I cant wait to get a collectors edition of Robocop 1 2 3 :D
the full soundtrack captures the side of the human soul then goes to a little mix with a synth that gives it that robotic feel that's, what the composer was going for .the techno mixed with the orchestra = robocop him self
Been looking for this everywhere. You have earned yourself a subscriber.
Love it
good duel music
If anyone has played F.E.A.R, I suspect the track "Heavy Armor" was heavily inspired by this track. When 0:19 hits and the urgency in the music kicks in, the two tracks sound very similar. As well as the fact that in F.E.A.R the Mech that is encountered almost is similar to ED-209.
@lilPat when they edit the movies sometimes a score is turned down and sound fx takes over. awesome music
Play it at 1.45x and it sounds like the music from the van chase

i loved the part wen robotcop says 'no way punk, now YOU die!' and then bopped him thru the window atht end!
but the cgi in this movie is so badlol
+henryEZ There was no CGI in this movie, it was stop-motion animation.
Even RoboCop 2/Cain from RoboCop 2 was stop-motion-animated. Only his face that appeared on the robot's monitor was CGI.
PLEASE, put context when you want to critize something. Whe are talking of the 80s, no cgi, even for actual standars the effects where amazing in this movie.
:)
