I’m not even mad, I’m impressed 😂
I wish he could show us how. step-by-step instructions.
Everyone is upset about the Philadelphia looting, but cheers on stealing gas? Y'all are basically worthless to society.
I bet you’re living in poverty too so you would be impressed
@@GillBill-l6f no we’re not living in poverty but we are not stupid like you when it comes to this rediculous outrageous gasoline price.
I'm jealous
if only people would put this much effort into something good
It’s always ironic as to what and when people deem something to be illegal, theft or bad. Millions of gallons fuel are stolen from other lands every month with great evil effort, under the guise of some nefarious means and no one mentions it or bats an eye. One guy steal 800 gallons from the thieves that stole it in the first place and it’s now theft.
Very selective outrage
That is good
😂😂
It is something good. Scumbags government is robbing us
This is amazing. More people need to be doing this.
Just as shopping malls are closed, gas stations will also be closed.
More people need to steal from small business owners and drive them out of their neighborhoods?
@@rageinbullit’s just a troll flapping their gums. Don’t feed into it.
Inflation is making more and more people ok with stuff like this.
You don't seem to understand that when people steal from a business, the business either raises the prices in the store to cover the losses (you pay more for everything) or they close the business down (you have nowhere to buy anything)
I am sad about the lack of long-term critical thinking skills of those living in the cities
Props. Gas is too expensive. “Shy of $3,000”. That shit is $4,800 here in Cali.
There is no way technology cannot monitor and stop this. It comes down to ignorance of the owners of the pump or bad design.
It can't don't put all your trust into it
@@Indicablazin145 What makes you think that is “all my trust?” I work on massive networks all day with monitoring. As soon as something doesn’t line up, we get warnings and go investigate. Otherwise it’s like finding a needle in a haystack.
Owner fault. 🤔
It's because they didn't change the default password
It can be intercepted easily
This man is a legend 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
That ‘Detroit man’ *could’ve gotten away with it if he only got his own full tank of gas then turned the pump off* and went on his way. But leaving it open trying to play Superman… yeah he set himself up.😂
But at the same time he was helping people in need
Most criminals don't know how to keep their mouths shut.
"The quieter you are, the louder you can hear."
He wouldn't be loved by all tho.
They would pay him and come in behind them and form a line.
What an absolute chad. Good for you. I'm glad he got to enjoy it
Most pumps can be "hacked" because nobody ever changed the default 4 digits password set in the factory (most of the time 4 identical values). So you open a panel, reset the pump, and use a smartphone to emulate a remote controller that can configure the pump, such remote controler can even be bought online for less than 100 USD. It works all over the world, just because station owners don't take the time to open the manual of their pump. I do not know if it was the case at this station in Detroit, but it is so easy that it was probably the way they did it.
I still don’t understand. Can you break it down a little further or is there a gas pump hacking for dummies book available 🤔 Thanks!
@@LikeSpee You can find everything on the internet, or you can find a way to ask to a generative AI. But I can give you the anti-hacking for dummie pump owners, in just one sentence : >. If fact it works for many cyber security issues. I can also give you the absolute foolproof anti-hacking for dummie pump owners, also in one sentence : >. Hope it helps.

Thanks for that information 👍
this is impressive. It's 100% right.
Bravo
This guy is a genius
Can’t be mad
Good for him!!!!!!
I need to learn that 1
People have been doing this for years. When I lived in Miami Florida we used chipped cards to overright the pump. But the thing is it'll overright both sides of the pump, so you had to make sure your partner, or if you had someone paying you was on the other side. And this only worked at Mom and Pop's gas station.

Against all theft but at least it's a crook that is using modern tech instead of old school guns.
That fuel he “stole” was stolen itself. I hope you’re against that theft as well.
Damn sucks to be the owner, but fr I'm not even mad at the scammer.
Now you can pay more for your gas to cover it.
@@Scratchingforcash You're doing that anyway through inflation. You don't seem to be mad at the central banks for printing a shitload of money in 2020.

I don't really care if people are stealing gas I think that's corporate greed payback. I think this is a great example of why going electronic on everything is probably not so great afterall.
I agree

I agree but the corporations dont give a crap. This stuff only hurts the other consumers and store owners if privately owned. Corporations pass the buck to us
Thieves always find excuses for their thieving.
Keep voting dem. Dems love to tax corporations, then they get "greedy" by raising their prices.
The prices here in Oakland are $6.49 for hi test at a shell
You'd have to be an idiot to live in. Democrat-run city like Oakland.
Premium it's called my g
That and you live in one of the worst cites that has and continues to deteriorate rapidly. Who’s the sucker, you or the state that controls these gas prices?
Oh come on, those thieves are all connected by a phone call or text!
"Here's a crime,...and here are detailed instructions on how to do it! Now in a few weeks we'll do a story about how a wave of this specific crime is sweeping the country and pretend this sort of reporting isn't to blame. Thanks for watching Irresponsible Nightly News!"
This is very typical of software security flaws based on improper configuration. They need to be reported to the general public so that everyone can be aware of the problem and station owners can fix their pumps. The pump manufacturers should also be releasing information and advisories but they may have no way of reaching the owners because either a distributor middleman sold the pumps or stations have changed hands throughout the years.
So, the best and most effective way to deal with it is to publicize it. Ignorance is the worst approach. Pretty much with everything. That would be truly irresponsible. Keep advocating for it though.
Reporting the news is irresponsible now? Sounds like a security flaw that can be fixed or better monitored.
@@coryc9040 The "news" has been irresponsible for quite some time now lmfao. I'd argue since the moment it became a thing, you were only being told what people wanted you to hear. And when they don't?
Well the people are .
The more things change, the more they stay the same. People think they're smart now because they have a smart phone in their pocket, but you all forget one *very* important thing:
You're just a bunch of fucking monkeys, playing at intelligence.
*Naw and settle down. To cognoscenti, those who pay attention, this is old news. Bluetooth hacking of Pinellas County, FL gas stations was over six years ago.*
This is the second story in a month
Solution pay people to pump the gas they don’t wanna pay workers though
That's a true folk hero if I ever knew one.
You think looting from a small business owner is "heroic"? You obviously don't know what that word means.
@@gurnblanston3210 The only entity that got "looted" was the oil company. While the fuel itself maybe sold on property that is leased as a small business, the owner hardly earns or loses anything.
The oil company usually takes the earnings and pays the owner a negligible commission that is proportional to the sales they make within a certain time frame. And nowadays, with everything expensive as it is, which is practically nothing when it comes to rent and other business expenses.
The way oil companies do business nowadays is nothing short of theft and so it doesn't pain me one iota to see them get a taste of their own medicine. They can afford the loss anyway. If you had more than 2 brain cells to rub together, you would've figured that out by yourself without someone having to draw it in crayon for you like usual.

Here come the Gas Deserts
Not all heroes wear capes?
Gas in San Diego is starting to come down just below $5 but many gas stations are still well over that. Someplace charging almost $7 per gallon🤦🏽♀️
This is not just Bluetooth… the person has internal access from inside itself. He could probably unlock the code from internal access and that’s all it takes.
do you know what youre saying
*No and you have no clue how the game is played.*
i think youre right, they need physical access to behind the panel and then they could press something to pair over bluetooth. But you could sit there all day scanning for a bluetooth connection to the pump, but if you dont change something to make it discoverable then you arent getting anywhere. This scam isnt just a point the flipper zero at the pump and profit, you need a bit more. It probably dead simple with the right tools and instructions, but damn difficult to create the same tools all on your own.
Ain’t nothing man can do if they put their mind to it, now if they just used that evil for good 😮

I’m glad he is getting arrested
The streets are rough right now
The amount of people in the comments supporting the thief is disturbing, he didn’t stick one over on the evil oil companies, he stole from an independent store owner. It’s not like the owner of that store is paying a dollar a gallon and selling at 4 bucks, he’s probably barely making anything off fuel sales. You want to whine about fuel prices it should be directed at the current administration and opec, they are both guilty
