I'm wondering if part of the reason why Miri is fairly mature for her age is because she underwent some parentification when she was with her mom, trying to give her emotional support to the best of her abilities as a four year old. She probably understood on some level that her mom wasn't in a state to be an attentive parent to her which is why she told Kyu last episode that she was fine not going back home because Kazuki and Rei do a better job of tending to her needs.

Unfortunately, Kazuki’s wife was killed by Ogino in an explosion while she was pregnant. This is told to us in their character descriptions on the buddy daddies official website. And Ogino is the creepy killer guy.
My theory is that Karin is maybe a family member of Kazuki’s late wife who Kazuki sends money to.

Thanks for sharing... It's kinda sucky to put that info in a bio only... I guess it's more common to check that stuff out in Japan?

@@TheGenreVerseno it’s likely just a mixture of spoilers and theories. Only the writers know the story as their is no manga for this anime. Most bios available are made by fans. The info about the guy and the wife will come up soon im guessing.
Just advice don’t check out bios of characters until finishing shows you’re watching to avoid spoilers.

@@saumya-5608 Episode 3 when they are at the bar talking to Kyu. It's a flashback where they show the wife getting killed. Kazuki's bio on the website confirms it as fact and says it's related to his line of work (which is what a lot of people guessed anyways), but the show has already given a lot of hints at this already. My current theory is that the wife died from an attack meant for Kazuki, but that doctors may have managed to save the baby and the money he keeps sending is essentially child support. Her family may have found out she died because of what he does and be refusing the money as a result. That's just my speculation though.

To keep the metaphor going, you could also say Kazuki is a dog and Rei is a cat. When Rei hugs, smiles etc. it just means a little more because it's rare!

13:12 On an additional note, at least for Kazuki's imaginary future of Miri as a teenager.... She was merely dating Taiga and getting all lovey-dovey when they get to high school... Instead Kazuki going full Yor levels of catastrophizing, and imagine Miri getting knocked up as a teenage mom, only to be abandoned by her boyfriend, or something terrible like that! X_X

You know... Even if I am not a parent, based on my own memories and experience as a kid, the MOMENT I got separated from my guardian in an unfamiliar environment, I would have went to an adult... My mother still have memories of me hugging her by the leg tightly whenever I heard one of those 'Please go to the reception, your parents are looking for you' PA announcements at department stores when I was around Miri's age.
Also, yeah... having only ONE teacher looking after an entire class of kindergarteners on a field trip was way too little. The daycare should have sent at least 2-3 adults for the class so that they can keep an eye on all the kids.

Apparently understaffed daycares are a pretty big ongoing issue in Japan on top of the huge amount of bystander effect because of the cultural aversion to causing a disturbance or conflict. I'm guessing Miri didn't think to go to an adult for help because of her independent streak and her past experiences made her think getting lost wasn't a problem.

@@cassie6146 What happened in Buddy Daddies is more of an anime thing and not really reflective of what happens in Japan. There are at least 2-3 teachers per group at daycares and preschools, and they would never go on a field trip without at least several adults, including some parent volunteers. Places like zoos and department stores always have a place for lost kids and staff to look after them, and they'll make announcements over loudspeakers if someone is missing, but little kids wouldn't be able to wander on their own at the zoo without staff approaching them anyway. In my experience living in Japan & the US, Japan is actually a lot more equipped at handling lost kids in these kinds of situations. I've really enjoyed your reactions Kyle and Christine. It's great to hear your perspectives as parents. It's fun seeing your pets, too.

He wasn't coming at her on her level though. I'm old but I can remember wishing my parents would talk with me more than at/to me. He's coming in with an accusation based on what the teacher told him instead of asking open ended questions designed to create conversation.

Why are you so focused on a 4 year old being "ungrateful"? 4 year olds say stuff like that. Also you think a toddler would understand that they are being ungrateful? He assumed she actually hit that boy and asked questions based on those assumptions what kid wouldn't get angry? She doesn't even understand how much these words hurt Kazu lol. She isn't ungrateful she just was raised by a mother with a miserable life and now is being raised by hitmen, including the fact one of these hitmen is literally sleeping in a bathtub, constantly playing games and making a mess like a teen don't expect much from her (not trying to be rude btw sorry If I sound rude)
