My first comment here, I usually comment on Instagram. I just want to let you know how much I enjoy your Podcasts, especially the knit and chat section. I'm currently making the Flax, which I have made before. Previous versions, though wearable, have not had enough ease worked into the finished garment. This time I used a shop bought sweater that fits me well and used it as a template for sizing. I'm on the home run now, just working down the body to the bottom ribbing. I've tried it on as I go and the fit is the best of all my previous sweater projects. My future plan is a cropped summer sweater to go over a linen dress. I love the planning of projects, choosing colours, patterns etc.
Thanks for all your Podcasts, you're one of my favourites to watch 💕🧓

I don't normally knit shawls, but I like this one. I think I would put chunky buttons and put some loops (either i-cord or a crochet chain) so I could wear it like a poncho. I think 3 big buttons would do it.

The only problem you'll have is picking a color(s). 😍 they have sales a lot too. Also, if there ever was a book made especially for Jana, it was the Neons & Neutrals book. So perfect for you. Enjoy!

Miss Piggy's wig is genius fabulous! I know that Linen Quill has a lot of fans but it isn't a favorite of mine. I just find it a little bristly though soft-ish. How can that be? Maybe I am too sensitive to the linen while most people don't seem to be. It pills a lot. If you want to try it Purl Soho frequently puts it on sale. As ever love hanging out with you, you are such a warm and delightful soul, and so craftily talented too.

I do love your scrappiness. You inspire me tremendously. As soon as I get the urgently needed sweaters off my needles, I will make something scrappy. I love your dress, it looks totally comfortable. I make my own dresses and they are whatever size I say they are 😆I found 2 patterns that really suit/fit me well and I just keep making them over & over in different fabrics. The purchased clothing in my wardrobe has the size labels cut off - they are also whatever size I say they are 😁 They mean nothing anyway because there is no real standard sizing - I can be a medium in one brand of jeans and an XL in another brand. Same with shoes - I'm a Euro 39 but own 36, 37, 38 & 40 that fit just as well 🤷‍♀My figure was hourglass but with small shoulders (now it's hourglass with a belly 😝) until meno hit me, so my favourite sweater/top/shirt style is a round yoke with colour or texture - because that makes my shoulders look wider and balances my shape. I'm still trying to figure out how to use colour or texture to make my belly disappear 🤣

Miss Piggy is adorable! She needs a bow on her wig 😀 The word for the octopuses legs are tentacles. That pattern is so cute too..... I'd love to make it for my youngest grandson. I have the opposite problem to you Jana with fit. I used to be a perfect hourglass figure when I was younger, but now my bust is bigger than my hips. I tend not to knit jumpers for myself anymore as I would have to add bust darts for sure and I'm too lazy to learn atm..... plus I have too much to knit for my grandchildren.

Linen Quill I have used a lot. Made 2 Half &half triangles and am about to start the stripped version. Also made 2 sweaters. I find the yarn quite lovely and soft, but it does pill quite a bit. I do love the slubby linen bits and the colors are complex and lovely. They pretty consistently put it on sale, so if you do take the plunge, wait for that (would at least offset the shipping). And speaking of Finnish designers, I have had a love affair with Marimekko since I got my first stripped dress when I was 12. Always love everything they do!

  • @fraochknits
    @fraochknits Год назад

Hi Jana, I knit the half and half wrap with one triangle in kremke soul wool lazy linen and the other triangle out of purl soho linen quill. The linen quill is definitely much softer and warmer because of the alpaca content and it is much nicer to knit with than the kremke. I liked it so much that I ordered more and am now knitting another half and half wrap completely out of linen quill. It's extremely good value for money considering what a beautiful yarn it is. I didn't block the shawl so maybe after blocking the kremke might soften up a bit.......
The shawl is used mostly as a blanket by my nearly teenage son Reuben - he really loves it. I am knitting the second one for myself:)

Well done. 2 more old wips finished. My all time favourite designer is Isabell Kraemer. Her designs fit me perfect. I received the book "Stripes" from Veera Vallimaki from my son as a Christmas present. The shapes are very different but I'll try first a sweater (Maya), and if it fits me well I would like to knit the Maire dress for next winter. And you tempted me with the not perfect linen. I gave a look at their site and oh my goodness, they have fabulous clothes (which would change me from my usual jeans). If I'm sensible, I'll sew myself a dress because I have a very alike pattern which could easily be adapted following their garments measurements (and I wear not much dresses in fact) and indulge me with a pair of trousers.

Love your sweater and the little piggy.
I found a frog pattern to try.
Did they cross country ski or downhill!
We got 11 inches of snow yesterday but today it was 40degrees so it is already melting.

The headband turned out so lovely, what a good idea! And beautiful colours in the crocheted blanket. Trying to finish my Azor sweater by Orlane Sucche, it's in wintery neutrals and I very much want to move on to more springy colours. Curling up with my knitting and your podcast on Saturday morning is a real treat, thank you!💗💗

Hi , I love your podcast and I love your finished headband! In answer to your question, Linen Quill by Purl Soho is an amazing yarn to knit with. I have made one half and half triangle wrap already and I wear it all the time in the morning or in the evening when it is chilly at home. I am now working on my second one , again in Linen Quill and strange enough my two colours are so similar to yours!❤

Haha! I've held off on suggestions not wanting to add to your WIPS ... But just in case you're interested...
If any of your cotton yarn is garment grade and you have enough,
Bag-O-Day Crochet YT channel has a few tutorials under "easy crochet toddler dress" but they are actually larger and you might be able to adjust the hook size to make one to fit your daughter. She has playlists so you can see the larger sizes in the thumbnails.

In my opinion Linen Quill felt a little scratchy when I was knitting with it, but it softened a lot when I blocked it. I have a summer top knit in it and I can wear it next to skin.

I’m with you on the whole butt darts comment as a definite pear shape I just wish I could find some styles that suited me better or were better quality I feel like I live in the same outfit. I’m sitting here knitting socks cause that’s what I always knit !I love the look of the neon neutrals book I have a real weakness for neon I’m also sitting looking at a beautiful skin of neon pink yarn I bought on holiday last week it would look lovely paired with grey but I’m so impatient I’ve never managed to make a garment so I think it will probably be hot pink socks .spring is coming here in the UK but I’ve also made myself some spring flowers on a crochet workshop last week which again made me want to crochet a little bit more .I always crochet the ripple blankets cause I find they’re quite easy but look really effective Just need to find my nice crochet hooks again.

I love it when I think about Finnish Knitting Stories and POOF! there is a vlog. 🙂The mosaic headband was a good project save and very pretty. Sofia will get many years of wear out of it. The yellow and grey sweater that you showed from your new book is a must. I would love to enjoy your maker journey on that wearable. 😉 The colours of yarn in your Spiked Granny blanket will be very beautiful together.
Thank you, Jana, for sharing and I'll see you in the next one. ❤

Hi! Linen Quill is not a rustic yarn. It has a bit of texture from the linen content, which doesn't take on the color of the dye, so it adds dimension to the yarn depending on how light or dark the color is. I've knit a Half and Half Triangles Wrap, a Ranunculus (held double with a lace weight handspun cotton. I need to reknit some of it has I wore it next to skin a lot in the summer and the underarm and hem felted), and a Classic Ribbed Hat (in worsted as a gift) all in Linen Quill, and personally I don't find it offensive next to skin. I think you won't be sensitive to it, especially considering your familiarity with Icelandic wool! Hope this helps
