NEW DJI DRONE LEAKS | Are we looking at the Mavic 4 or the Air 3S?..

  • Just when we thought things were looking as bleak as they could for DJI...we get the best gift we could possibly ask for (short of the legislation in Congress being lost in an unfortunate paper shredding accident)...we have NEW LEAKS of a potential DJI drone.
    Some sources are saying this drone appears to be the Mavic 4. Other sources are adamant it is the Air 3S. It appears to be one of those two drones, but what should be bank on to be DJI's next new drone release?
    On top of that, what can we expect from this new drone performance-wise, how much will it cost, and when will it be available?
    We figure all that out and I share some of my speculation on the what, how, and when right here, right now...so, Let's Talk Drones!

    I'll take sensor size over any other feature every time.. Still praying for an upgrade to the Mavic 3's sensor and the X7 super 35 sensor being used in the next Mavic Pro 4.. Maybe blow our minds usng Sony's newer 26mp APSC sensor from the a6700 rather than clearing out old parts bin sensors.. It would be an amazing upgrade to image quality.. I do think this next release will be a Air model however..

    I think it’s clear that is an Air model considering the air 3 has been on sale the last couple weeks on the Dji store

      Great point too...pricing on the Air 3 has been on a pretty steep discount for a while...another good indicator that this is an Air on the way.

    With the looming DJI Ban in the U.S. I Hope it will be the most expensive DJI Consumer Drone which it would be the DJI Mavic 4 Pro making it in the price range of costing more than the Air 3 but less than the price of the Mavic 3 Pro. It would make sense in regards to DJI’s profit margin. Leaking it as an Air 3 is a misdirection on DJI’s part because of the Air 3’s Consumer popularity.

      That's an interesting thought, but DJI hasn't been known to practice misdirection -- they haven't had to because their products sell themselves. Additionally, I don't think we're QUITE to zero-hour yet with the bans. The legislation still hasn't passed the Senate and will then need to be signed into law by the President (or vetoed, whichever he decides). That's not accounting for suits and appeals DJI will almost certainly file in the event the ban passes.
      I think they're going to stay the course and release an Air 3S here. They may have a Mavic 4 in the works already...but I'd look for that, at the earliest, to drop sometime next spring.
      Also, keep in mind, while the United States is likely DJI's largest market in terms of drones purchased...we're far from the only population purchasing and utilizing them. We may be the first domino to fall, but DJI still provides most of the world their drone technology and while it will sting to potentially lose the US market...it's far from a doomsday scenario for them. They'll keep their plans on track and release as per their schedule rather than risk rushing a drone to market and have it fall short of expectations.
      We shall see. As I've stated in the video and time and again here in the comments sections, I have been wrong before. It'd be a welcomed surprise if I'm wrong here because a Mavic 4 would be sick to snag before anything major happens with the bans.

    Thank you for the video; it was very informative. I believe you are right that this is an Air 3S with a 1-inch CMOS main camera and a 0.78-inch CMOS zoom, which is nice but not perfect because when editing videos with it, you have two different sizes. The Mavic Pro 3 had this problem with all three different sizes on the CMOS, making video editing harder. I also think this is not the last release from DJI; I think the Mini 5 Pro is coming next. I believe it's going to have the same main camera from the Air 3S, a 1-inch CMOS, similar to what they did with the Mini 3/4 Pro, which copied the same main camera of the Air 3, making it a 0.78-inch CMOS for the Mini 3/4 Pro. So, the Mini 5 Pro is going to be the first mini with a full 1-inch CMOS, in my honest opinion, probably just in time for the holidays. Then we will see the Mavic Pro 4 next year. Just my educated guess. Thank you for the video again.

    Since the Mavic 3 has been on a huge discount for several weeks I will go out on a limb and say it is because the upcoming release of the Mavic 4 . It is the usual pattern for dji releases.

      I can see your perspective. And let’s be real, I’ve been wrong before so I might end up with egg on my face after all this…but it won’t make any sense to release a Mavic 4 when the Mavic 3 Pro came out just a year ago now and is uber capable and relatively “near-future-proof.” There isn’t a lot of room for improvement in this short of a timeframe for the Mavic series. The Air 3 though…yeah there is a ton of room.

    how has not a single youtuber taken the flight video and slowed it down frame by frame.. everyone just blasts it on repeat..

      Frankly, it would do nothing. The video was shot on a potato. Also, if it means that much to you, pause the video I posted at that section and use your < > keys to go frame by frame.

    Damn other channels were saying longer flight time on the 3s vs the air 3

    • @TheDroneGeek

      I have heard that too. I wouldn’t bank on it if history is worth anything in this conversation. I’ve been wrong before though, so I suppose anything is possible!

      @TheDroneGeek I was planning on buying a air 3 off this guy online he wants 800.00 for it which has 20hrs flight time which seems pretty reasonable priced and now don't know if I should wait on the 3s or just buy the air 3

    • @TheDroneGeek
      @TheDroneGeek  5 дней назад

      That's a tough one and ultimately comes down to what YOU want...can't ignore the nearly $200 worth of savings on the second-hand drone (more if you get a fly more combo and/or DJI RC 2), but...it IS a second-hand drone, which means you could be getting a drone that has been underwater or smashed to bits and "repaired." You never really know when you buy second-hand...not suggesting you're absolutely going to regret it, but it's a mixed bag...I've heard great stories about snagging a deal in the after-market market and I've also heard absolute nightmares.
      If I were you? I'd wait if I have the cash to buy an Air 3S brand new. Even if you don't, you have a little less than a month to scrape together ~$500 to make up the difference for a new Air 3S. Good luck either way!

    Is dji not leaving the USA?

    • @TheDroneGeek
      @TheDroneGeek  5 дней назад +2

      The ban legislation (to my knowledge, I have not checked the news today because I’ve been out on a job all day) still has a few steps it has to get through before it would become law. Until it is law, DJI can continue to sell drones in the United States.
      Additionally, while my audience is MOSTLY American…about 20% of it is from other countries. Gotta keep the folks who can still buy them informed too.

      If they get this out by July, I’d bet you can still buy it (legally) in the United States.

    • @TheDroneGeek

      Nah, this one would release before the ban goes into place -- so it will be unaffected. Anything released after any kind of ban would be put into place is where you, an American, should not really give a shit. However, I'll keep making them because this world is a whole lot bigger than just America...
