I know this comment is probably gonna get a lot of dislikes and hate, BUT I watched Bio-Broly a couple of weeks ago. Seriously, no clue why but it just happened. I actually enjoyed it WAY more than I did as a kid when it came out! Why? Because Goten and Trunks ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING! It wasn't like how they are in Super where they look somewhat younger than how they did in the Buu Saga and act like toddlers despite being in their teens! They didn't just fuse for Gotenks fan service, but then get beaten in like 10 seconds after providing some stale comic relief. We see Goten and Trunks giving their all against Swamp Thing...I mean Bio-Broly and it was great because it had been SOOOOOOOO long since I remember these two actually fighting!
@@Redstar2613 I don't dislike that movie. I just feel Goten and Trunks fought more in a serious manner in Bio-Broly when they were played up more for comedic fighting during Second Coming.
Hey, don't drag yourself so down... you not only have written why you think this in a calm manner (so by default, it would incentivate to be educate), but also pointed out at something most fans would want nowadays... I fully agree with you on why you liked that movie, it is a good reason to...
My favorite thing about Super was the early “Slice of Life” stuff that focused more on establishing the world around the character we already knew. Goku having a day job, the family life of Vegeta, Krillin, Gohan and where Piccolo fits in the laters life. When the show doesn’t call for a show of power it gives the non-Saijins a chance to take the spotlight and even harken back to the original Dragonball in how the world was presented as Gokus adventure rather than just training for the next big-bad.
This. The creators just don't get that we're watching for the charming characters and their antics, not for the action or "plot". Early Super to me was great because it seemed like it was finally pulling free rom the repetitive new bad guy-training-fight loop that Dragon Ball's literally been stuck in since the end of the Freeza saga that Shonen Jump and Toei marketing forced it into. Like the Universe 6 arc where literally the only stakes to the "story" were bragging rights for Beerus, the draw wasn't the story, it was that there was a tournament and that meant we got to meet a whole bunch of new fun characters right in a row.
@@randombencounter263 i remember spending moths having these videos on repeat whenever i was free unconsciously avoiding the fight scenes, now it makes more sense.
I wouldn't mind at all if DBS had one saga dedicated to the different Universes, giving each universe a couple episodes to tell a story. Universe 6 and 11 each already have enough options that could fill a spin-off, so a few episodes alone would already do em some good.
I rewatched the Tournament of Power arc again recently since that was my favourite arc and I feel the same way, every universe had such a crazy array of characters and the brief glimpses we got of each universe maid me want to see more of what their lives are like (the world needs more of Tuxedo Toppo!), it would also solve a lot of issues people have with Dragon Ball in general (eg Dragon ball's over reliance on Goku).
C'mon now this is modern Dragon Ball you know they won't do good ideas and flesh out more characters who need it in favor of giving Goku a new hair color every week

I want more Universe 9. Sorrel seemed to be getting some hype with dedicated screenshots early on in the ToP - only to be eliminated offscreen as a joke.
I wish Trunks and Goten would be aloud to start getting older and escape the Ash Ketchum syndrome they've been stuck with. I'd love to see more of them training and fighting alongside their fathers.
Trivia from jaco galactic patrolman: it's said that saiyans retain their childlish appearance until maturity, when they suddenly grow up This is probably a call back to how Goku appeared as an adult in dragon ball with no in-between teenager form
@@isauldron4337 Mhm. It's also believed they age faster during hardship, hence why Future Trunks at the same age as Trunks in Super looked like a teenager. Idk if that's been confirmed, but it would surely make sense.

I understand why Goten and Trunks are not aged, but I'm still very sure that Making them grow up a little and having some time to shine would make them more iconic. I can picture them having sort of a Teen Gohan moment. How can that not be incredible and sell trillions of toys?
Yeah, it's past time for Goten and Trunks to actually mature and start being their own characters. If you want kid centered stuff, they can use Pan and Bra, but Trunks and especially Goten need to start showing some progression as characters if they want the franchise to continue on. I have my problems with Boruto, but I respect them actually trying to center the story on someone different and move things on to the next generation. DragonBall needs to do the same.

Could you imagine if they made ssj4 canon and teen Goten was the first one to get it? Yeah it would be a legen what for it dary moment in dragon ball history that could possibly rival teen Gohan ssj2 transformation.
@@dariquewarren Won't happen. Also, funnily enough, Teen Gohan is like actually 11 lol. But regardless, Saoyan's don't really have teenage forms typically. They don't grow much until maturity, then they suddenly become adults. Hence why Goku always looked like a kid up until Piccolo Jr. Saga when he was suddenly all grown up in just, I believe, three years despite showing no age growth before that.
the most frustrating thing about it being The Goku-and-Vegeta Show is that Vegeta still can't get a win over a big bad despite sharing top billing with Goku these days
Best thing about Super is the worldbuilding. Dragon Ball always felt too linear, when things like Yardrat or Freeza's Empire weren't the immediate focus, they weren't mentioned in Z ever again. Super makes the world of Dragon Ball feel more like an actual lived-in world, and I appreciate that.
Super has slowly made a return to Dragon Ball's routes, taking the time to flesh out and explore the franchise's lore and unique locations. I don't really like Dragon Ball Z past the Saiyan Saga, and I think that mainly has to do with watching the OG series first, and then watching as all of the elements I enjoyed from the original series, such as varied fighting techniques, tactics and styles, and those grand adventures, were abandoned in favour of buff, screaming blondes and regenerating opponents, on drab desert or forest backdrops.
@@syronax__8736 I guess that I thought after the Freeza Arc we'd get a bunch or arcs exploring space, and I was a little disappointed that Toriyama didn't do that. At least now we've got the Broly, Moro and Granolah arcs, so I'm pretty satisfied that Universe 7 has been and is being extensively explored. Even the introduction of Beerus and Whis, and the pantheon of gods and angels is all great stuff.

Cons of Super: Not as much side character development, and it basically is the Vegeta Goku show. Pros: We get to see more personal sides of the characters, such as Vegeta and his family, Gohan and his family and many other things like that. All in all, I wish we saw more characters like Tienshinhan, Piccolo, Krillin and Gohan doing more in the major plots, and I would like to see them getting more special powers.
I came into DBZ back in 1994 while the Buu arc was playing in Japan. As a teen I gravitated to Gohan and he's always been my favorite these past 30 years. Having said that, what Toriyama did to him for most of Super was straight criminal.
Completely disagree, Gohan has been fine in Super. Just because he isn't the centre of attention or defeating the main villain doesn't mean Toriyama has done him dirty. What Toriyama has done to Goten and Trunks is truly criminal

@@j.i.k2.044 Goten and Trucks I ABSOLUTELY agree with you there and pretty much always will. But Gohan is supposed to be one of the smarter characters. Seeing him slack off in in training and putting the world in jeopardy once I could see. Seeing him get lazy at the start of Super (now a second time) doesn't fit the character IMO.
@@JamailvanWestering Again thats where I disagree, the Super manga has made Gohan relevant and important. He was relevant in the last arc and the ToP, he doesn't need to be the centre of attention to be relevant. I want Gohan to have more moments too just like anyone but I can't deny how much attention he has gotten in the manga
Also their Technique's could've been probably Useful against Moro's Goons (& to an Extent Piccolo holding off Mountain Moro with his Great or even GIANT Namekian Form.)
Gohan was allowed to physically age throughout DBZ while Goten & Prime Trunks stay the same. Truly a shame and an example in a change of mindset to how DBS handles supporting characters from DBZ
Disappointed Super's anime has not come back. I loved reading the Moro arc even with it's problems near the arc's end. Personally in the anime Moro arc. Hope it uses the side character more. The anime usually uses the side characters better. I do think Goku fully mastered UI too soon. Wonder if character like Piccolo and Gohan will show in this arc.
The thing of Super is, that it has sooo many possibilities to tell amazing stories, with amazing character arcs, but it is held back by safe choices, over relience on fanservice, and retcons... There are so many good ideas, but its execution is very underwhelming... and to me, and I am sure many others, more than an organic part of the story, feels like a "more of the same, but worse" (the worse being because it suffers from the same errors of the classic show, but it has no excuse for not fixing them) I also think that I am not exaggerating much if I say that literally every fanfic I saw that is based on the super, feels far more passionate and interesting, due to simply daring to dare something different in a way...
DBS needs to take the comic book multiverse/MCU approach to storytelling and universe building! You have SO many stories, development and goodness knows how many episodes you can get out of exploring the other universes and developing the characters from them, it is a goldmine if written right! 😎
I think the main thing I want is for them to wrap up Super and reach the end of Z, then start a multiverse arc where GT happened, but to another universe. Have our heroes face similar problems but maybe they discover the GT dimension and can travel between. I just want to push through and into a new story with HOPEFULLY Gohan as the true protagonist along with Piccolo as his Vegeta-esque training partner but with a much more interesting difference in training styles/transformations
I always say that God Ki really made the stories unbalanced, if they had found away to not make it so powerful , then they could find ways to have other characters relevant . But yes there is potential to turn super into an action adventure show
Or how about have other characters learn god ki and birth exclusive techniques that can keep them relevant? For example, there isn't anything stopping the earthlings from learning UI or Piccolo learning to tap into god ki. Conveniently enough this current manga arc is lowkey giving Namekians more lore so this could lead to something big with Piccolo
To be fair; in the manga the scaling is a lot closer down; enough that Roshi was able to hold his own dodging around Jiren. The anime is all out of wack though on the power scaling. ~The Host Of The Aurora System

If we can’t get some inclusion of the other races and universes, I really just want a spin-off series, at least 3, for things they only barely touched on.
I hear what you're saying Masako, I just think there is something good about keeping the balance between world building and preserving the mystique. We didn't get Gine until several fan iterations of the idea of Goku having a mother. Sometimes letting things stew gives more time for creativity and new ideas that are BOTH relevant to the times AND stay true to the source material.

There is 100% a way to bring the Human's into relevance they introduced two concepts that give huge power boosts God Ki and Ultra instinct. They've already gave the latter to Roshi in a way now give it rest of the human cast and let them beat the underlings but not be enough for mid boss. I still think the next group of villains need to be an army of Super Saiyain gods, because there are PLENTY of pure hearted Saiyan's in universe 6, and a straight up HUMAN who Uses Ultra Instinct.
I would also give Earthlings revelance by getting stronger through different means such as magic and technology. I would also give Earthlings their own unique power ups based on their physical traits such as Enlightened Monk for Krillin, Wolf Warrior Bandit for Yamcha and Crane Spritualist for Tien. I would also give Earthlings the ability to manipulate ki in unique ways such as turning ki into animals such as a Turtle , Wolf and Crane.
Hopefully it's not too late to get a 10 episode Battle between Launch and Urine for Tien's hand in marriage. I hope Launch is the new antagonist in the 2022 film.

They done the green man dirty, and I really hate them bringing up cool stuff and dropping it. "Namekian book of legends? What's that? Oh it's a namek thing who cares. oh look the sayains got a new hair color!" "Vegeta visiting universe 6? Nah only universe 7 sayain lore matters!" That's why I'm worried about the implications of the new namekian origins. They probably won't follow up.
Adult Trunks and Vegeta should travel to universe 6 to give guidance to, and relate to their race. To see them grow and have emotional experiences. Imagine Trunks and Vegeta having a sparring match at base that makes Vegeta proud enough to shed a tear or two. Then the other saiyans cheer and support their new family. While in Universe 7, kid trunks and goten take to Gohan as a father figure. Sure, he might not be the ultimate fighter or the coolest guy around at the time, but it'd give so much room for them to all grow! Kid trunks and Goten could spark in gohan a desire to fight and actually have fun with it, while Gohan shows them that there's so much more to life. Videl, Pan, Piccolo, Hercule and maybe some Kame house friends/Z-fighters can pop in, too. Show Gohan being friends with everyone and watch how he gets supported by those around him. Might make Kid Trunks and Goten think about how they want to grow up. Maybe Trunks looks up to his mother to become a tech genius. Maybe Goten wants to be a farmer like Chichi, or a world tournament fighter without the use of super saiyan. There's just so much potential by this becoming a plot point that it's insane it hasn't already happened!
Super Dragon Ball Heroes is actually trying to do new things with fan service. For example Super Saiyan Rosé 2. Also Turles is getting a lot of love interestingly enough
Agreed. I like how Turles isn't following the super Saiyan line to get power. It taps more into the idea he's evil Goku, at most i can see him getting a fruit powered SSJ4, since SSJ4 can absorb energy it can handle the fruit's power ups much better than his regular body

What I hate about Dragon Ball Super is how they took away alot of the characters development. Goku learned so much as did Vegeta but they made Goku into an fighting crazed idiot who should have known thanks to Cell to not give his enemies a senzu bean.
This. People always being up Goku giving Cell a bean but Goku learns from his mistakes during the arc. Hell in the japanese sub he tells Gohan to tell ChiChi that he's sorry for being a selfish husband. But that's drained away in super
If I had to choose I guess its pretty much the same as you I like the world building seeing new characters, concepts new environments and how they are slowly fixing how fights are done in the series, adding ui makes it less about transformations, spirit fusion and haikai energy is changing how vegeta is going to proceed, the moro arc added the z warriors and for some reason i feel like they are gonna come in during the granolah arc or the next one too
They should give the earthlings something exclusive to their race to give them relevance. For example, they could give them a secret ability that is needed to defeat a bad guy, leaving the quest up to the earthlings and maybe the hybrids as well
honestly I think some real fun could be had with trunks and goten if they grew up. We know they both have a love of dramatics and being flashy and it's cranked up even more as gotenks. So play with that and their desire to be heroes. Have them acting as the great saiymen now that videl and gohan have hung up their capes. Give them some time to shine, show trunks possibly showing that same love for a sword that future trunks does or tossing away the idea of a sword since he has no need for one, give them a reason to be flashy without coming across as obnoxious. You could even bring marron in on it. Have this seven year old girl in a super hero costume just throwing around goons and mechs.
Honestly I feel like the U6 Saiyans could have been done some much better in so many ways, even their designs feel so wrong when you look at most other DB characters (I am mostly refering to the noodle arm design, looks so silly to have huge buff people like Vegeta and Goku fight people with less muscle than me). Also the way they went about them aquiring SSJ, while Cabba's wasnt bad Caulifa's was just stupid. I'd much rather they had made it so they already knew the transformations and had them reach new heights during the tournament when encountering difficult opponents.
Regarding expansion of existing elements of the Dragon Ball universe and lore, I'd like to see a Demon arc where we learn about Dabura, Demons, and possibly the Demon King Title. Maybe something related to Majin Buu along with all that too. New stuff with the Namekians would be cool as well, hopefully with Piccolo becoming relevant and strong again.
Shueisha: Good, Good, with the fans focusing on the three T's Toei, Toyotaro, and Toriyama none will be ever the wiser, we can continue ruling from darkness or in plain sight for time and time ever more, for who can challenge that which is an enimga. Yes all according to Keikaku
You know... I would say I'd like a Vegeta win, but I could just imagine with him learning new powers, Suddenly new Big bad guy shows up and (Vegeta): HAKAI! Victory for Vegeta!
Nice video. But since we're all big nerds here discussing RUclips comments, I'm going to write my comment to disagree on two points. 1) No venue to power up the human characters. It's not that there's no venue. It's just that they just don't care. DB Super has been making up retcon after retcon after retcon, even if it's just for a dumb joke or a ding from the reference bell. I mean, you said it yourself, there's 12 universes to take something from, maybe there's a new training method for human-like characters there, or another bottle of The Actual Super Sacred Water to take a sip from, I mean, anything is possible! And before anyone comes at me with "THEY ALREADY HAD THEIR POTENTIAL UNLOCKED, IT'S NOT POSSIBLE!", characters have had their "potential" unlocked several time before already, and it's not like Dragonball has been strict with giving these character 'honest power'. I invite you to look at three moments in the series a) Vegeta got through Namek by his Saiyan hacks by getting a huge power-up after getting his ass kicked to the point that it literally became a plot point when facing down Freeza, and even gave him the confidence to take on Freeza in his 4th form, when the 2nd had him shaking in his boots. b) Throughout the entire Buu Saga, the only significant training that leads to a powerup is SSJ3 Goku, and he did that off-screen. The rest of the series is the characters quickly trying to cheat their way into new strength. Whenever Buu stops being a threat, he just absorbs another character and adds their power to his own. We've got two DIFFERENT kinds of fusions, and then we've got another power unlocking. c) Super Saiyan God? Yes, if we manage to get 6 'pure hearted' souls from this race of insane, genocidal fighting monkeys together in this ritual, they can manage to get God Ki too!
Dragon Ball Super definitely wasn't perfect as it had its pros and cons similar to Dragon Ball GT despite not being canon and arguably worse but I think that we can all agree that neither of them lived up to the excellence of the original Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z.......
Things I like about Super: concepts, certain characters, etc Things I hate: Goku black arc ending, stupid powerscaling, Future Trunks is a Gary Stu, no stakes, pretty much the rest of the series
The problem with the whole "its the Goku & Vegeta show" is that this was already a thing in Z, after the Cell arc the humans and Piccolo starting playing smaller and smaller roles. Its beyond fixing imo and that is something happened long before Super, when battle of gods and rof came about that was the icing on the cake.
I mean it isn't beyond fixing. if Frieza and 17 can go from below Super Vegeta level to becoming stronger than Blue Goku, they can easily asspull the humans to relevancy (they've half assed it with Piccolo, but he's somehow near Goku and Vegeta's tier now)
@@KaiserMattTygore927 The funny thing is in the Super Manga Android 17 wasn't asspulled to blue Goku but slightly above SSJ3 Goku. But yeah I get your point, if the humans can learn UI they can become relevant again aswell and maybe have Piccolo learn to tap into god ki.

The only human that truly got some loving (even if it was short in the larger scope of things) is Master Roshi. That guy actually kicked ass in the tournament of power. Krillin got knocked out too early, Tien got like 1 double knockout with a nobody throwaway villain, Yamcha wasn't even good enough to consider inviting.
Has it been officially stated that Super takes place between Buu's death and the tournament with Uub? I mean, I've always thought it was no longer cannon.
Hey Masako, since we know what would happen if both Cold and Frieza were revived thanks to What if Nappa turned good, how about doing a what if called What if Cold got revived instead of Frieza?
I'm just thankful that Vegeta is now obviously on par with Goku now, or at least they have different powersets from one another. Actually, that's one of the reasons why I like gotenks so much, he was a buffon, and had lots of unique attacks.
I think if they wanted to make the human characters important again, Krillin, Tien, Master Roshi, etc. could get their power "awakened" by the elder kai like Gohan did. I think the best time that they could've done that would've been during the survival tournament. Now, it would be okay to do that off screen. Piccolo could be made relevant again by maybe making a storyline about king piccolo (similar to Super Sonic Warriors) where they fuse.
I don't hate super. I just find myself mostly apathetic towards it while thinking alot of this was better on paper. To this day I haven't nor do I see myself buying any merch of any kind of the super series. I'd buy the manga but viz is still the licensee so that options out the window
One thing I love about Dragonball Super is the expanding lore of other Universes and other races such as Universe 6 Saiyans and Cerealians. One thing I dislike about Dragonball Super is the underutilized characters such as Goten, Present Trunks and Marron! I want them to get a spotlight in having their own individual arcs.
I see a lot of people saying the bad things about Super were the movie arcs and their horrible animation, some of the fights not being good (like how some of the punches don't have any weight in it), the lack of use of certain characters or changing the character themselves (treating Goku like a complete idiot when, yes he may not be the smartest or wisest of the whole group, that doesn't necessarily mean he is dumb as he is pretty smart combat wise and knows how to assess a threat), but for me, the terrible thing or what doesn't make any sense to me is the existence of the 13 universes. With the introduction of Universe 6 and it being a universe similar to the one we know, we obviously got hyped because we could see more saiyans and possibly different versions of Goku, Vegeta and Frieza for example. Heck, i think back in the U7 VS U7 arc, people were speculating about this being the way they would introduce the movie characters like Slug, Turles, Cooler and Broly (which in my opinion is better than what we got. Except we got Blue Frieza, Vegeta wannabe, Female Broly and Cauliflower, Black Namekians and... i think thats it in terms of comparison to Universe 7. You might be wondering why i think this is a issue. Well, what was the point of all of this? Yes, i can understand its just stupid to create more Saiyans and just claim 'Oh we were off planet when Frieza destroyed the planet', but its even stupider to create 12 different universes and not live up to the hype! I mean, why create a parallel Universe if you're not going to do the obvious thing and do a reverse on the characters personality? Like have an evil Goku, or a good Vegeta, or a good Frieza? And its not like 6 and 7 are the only parallels! Whis states that all the universes that add up to 13 are parallel to one another, but besides some of the 6 and 7, none of the fuckers from the other Universes look alike! And we don't even see ANY of the Universes! Besides a few glimpses on how they look like for a few minutes, we barely know any of these Universes! In my opinion, they shouldn't have added Zeno to begin with, let there be just two Universes (in case they ever went with the parallel route), and have the Gods of Destruction distributed into sectors. That way, you don't create too many things at once and you still get the parallel effect you were going with
I like super a fair bit tbf. In regards to the original characters falling behind it does make sense that most characters wouldn’t be able to keep up with goku and vegeta given the fact that move past constantly training
Hot Take. I like some parts of Dragon Ball Super Heroes Cumber Cooler SSJ4 Evil Blue Vegeta Turles The Demon Realm Demons Time Breakers That is all cool stuff IMO
I agree, I love everything there. I like Cumber, he seems like a spin on OG Broly's character as well as an ancient Saiyan who knew Yammoshi. I also like Turles' new form, him not using SSJ for power taps into the idea he is evil Goku again. I don't really like coolers portrayal in heroes tbh. Especially since him getting a golden form contradicts the fact that Cooler actually trained for his power unlike Frieza.
a lot of super feels kinda shallow in the sense that we have all these universes n such but nothing is really done with them. if they made spin-off shows or ova's with the cast from other universes that would be great, or even do some episodes dedicated to whats going on with the other z team members, such as piccolo going to yardrat cas think about it yardrat is the perfect place for piccolo to learn new things it fits his style completely. so far a lot of what super introduced feels more like a tool for hype but nothing else, as most of it is never acted on.
Right, so, in order I suppose. Low Stakes: Pretty much agree. Personal stakes are different from global stakes, and in all the media I've seen and spoken with other fans about, they tend to far and away prefer personal stakes. Broly's a good example of this, because you know that if he dies during the fight, nobody's going to bring him back, no one who cares will get the chance, and he's just been hard done by in life up to that point. Little different from "But will these LITERAL PHYSICAL GODS be able to beat the bad dude this week?!" Kinda loses its impact when you realize the story isn't willing to do a straight-up crawl out of oblivion. Enhancing Lore: This one's touchy. When you change authors, what qualifies as "enhancing the lore" and what qualifies as "officialized fanfiction?" Because to me, Namekians being from "another realm," and said realm being so vaguely defined, really straddles the line. On the plus side, it's a way to make non-Saiyans more relevant - see also Gohan not wanting to use SS any more, while regaining access to his Potential Unleashed..."form." But on the minus side, what the hell does that mean? It feels a little forced when you can't define whether it means another universe (one of the erased ones?) versus another timeline, versus Other World, or maybe something outside Zen-Oh's multiverse entirely. And the fact that even during the Namek Saga not a word of this was even breathed....yeah. There's obvious retcons, and then there's that. Even Goku being an alien was alluded to. Still, you do have a point, and it's nice to see the universe(s) at large rather than just "oh here's the latest Bad Thing on Earth." Superficial Treatment: Ehh. I see where you're coming from, and I'd like to see more of the expanded stuff as well, but I don't want them to just abandon the old stuff, either. And it's really hard to tie stuff back in the old lore (Moro with GSK, for example) when you just pack up your stuff and head off to Universe 8 or wherever. It needs time, and with the sheer volume of stuff added, it needs A LOT of time. We got enough of Gowasu, for example, but it took quite some time, and any other universe's SK would need at LEAST as much. Variance in villains: Mm...this was actually one of Super's weak points, I think. Not necessarily the variety, but the overall quality. Moro's been better, but SeriesBeerus was eh, Golden Frieza was eh, Hit was cool but not particularly special (he reminds me of a repeat of Tien except less of a straight asshole to start), Zamasu...I have gone on at length about why I hate him and will refrain from doing so again, and Jiren was one of the most boring antagonists I've seen in anything ever. But at least his fight scenes were cool? The Goku Show: In fairness, it's a tough problem to solve, since Goku is the biggest gun they have. That changed in Z, frequently, and it worked in the OG series because he was having fun silly adventures and the combat was almost (ALMOST) ancillary. Now, though, it's either "Only Goku has a chance" or "Goku shows up, Saga Over." If anything, I think they've been doing the best they can - Krillin and Piccolo are more tactical, Gohan's a jack of all, Tien is technical, Master Roshi is evasive. Goku hits things hard. It's a hell of a change from the Cell and Buu Sagas, where Piccolo fell behind and Tien was the only Earthling who could even pretend to be relevant. I'm not sure what they could really do to change anything about it that wouldn't be in direct conflict with the Low Stakes problem. Unless you want every single arc to turn into the '08 OVA. Although it would be nice to see Goten actually DO something. Anything. Preferably without Trunks in the vicinity. Poor kid. I, uh, seem to have missed the last positive. You went straight from "wanna see the next generation" into "Authors talking to editors." But in any case, I've yet to actually own any of Super, outside of the manga and Broly - I'd like to, at least from the U6 arc on (I never want to see the first two Sagas of Super again holy crap), but they're kinda expensive. Shock of shocks, anime is expensive, I know. But yeah, it's still real good to see that they're still invested in it. At the end of the day, Dragon Ball is a huge fanbase. And by extension, there's a metric ton of toxicity and fake fans who don't respect the author or just want to find new and exciting things to complain about. Super's a good show overall, with some issues. That sound familiar to anyone else? Nothing's perfect and I think it holds up pretty well as a whole. It's not breaking a ton of new ground, it's not setting new standards, but Z exploded because it was a product of its time. Super's time is a much, MUCH worse time for things to become breakout hits, just because of the oversaturation of anime in general. It does fine.
The low stakes really made the Universe 6 tournament actually matter. Moving the planet to Universe 6 would have give Super actual plot and consequence and wouldn’t impact End of Z, as well as give an entire new universe of stuff to explore and enemies to find.

I definitely agree with Gohan's hairstyle being kept mostly the same like the Cell Saga it's a real shame that Toriyama was close to keeping that cool hair doo in fact their is fan art of an 19 year old gohan with a slight tweak of his cell saga hair doo and I will definitely say he looks great that hair doo will make it easier to know when he goes super saiyan that makes it look even closer to cell saga hairstyle then when he goes super saiyan 2 like his iconic super saiyan 2 cell saga hair with Ultimate Form being a black haired version of that hair could've been really neat to see during super regrowing bit by bit that long hair that he has when he was a kid
Honestly I too have mixed feelings towards DBS though it would be easier to list the shows and media I didn't have mixed feelings about these days. The first 2 movie recap arcs were a waste of my time. The Universe 6 Tournament Arc had a few solid moments but overall was just Dragon Ball playing it dreadfully safe. The Future Trunks Arc was absolute bananas and wild but for the great majority of it I enjoyed the arc's story and it was the first arc to make me think DBS actually had something to offer. Then I saw the ending of that arc and my opinion of the show promptly fell back down to where it was. The Universe Survival Arc is mixed, in some ways it shows the worst of DBS and in others the very best. It's also quite tragic in that I actually think by the time the Survival Arc was reaching its conclusion the show felt like it had found its feet. As the anime ended it finally had some degree of confidence. The Moro Arc was full of promise and was a genuine delight to read up until the final battles where it lost me. But thanks to a certain someone my opinion on the final Goku vs Moro fight shifted and I now think very highly of the arc's conclusion even if I think the arc still dropped the ball a bit. I have genuine interest and hope for the Granolah arc and it has yet to disappoint. Overall the series hasn't done much to earn my affection and when it has it's mostly down to Toyotaro's manga than it is the anime. But I remain ever hopeful.
I particularly agree about the Goku and Vegeta show. I'd say it's part of a larger issue, which is that, well... DBS doesn't really have a story. It's literally a fighting context where villains show up and Goku and Vegeta have to take turns to fight them, and this absolutely wasn't the case in DB, DBZ and DBGT. There WAS a story back then, the story of Goku's growth, and Vegeta had a specific role in that story: he was there to kickstart and accompany Goku's evolution from naive kid to proud and mature warrior/man. Once that evolution is complete, Vegeta's role is over. I'd gladly watch a spin-off show with him as the full protagonist, but he has nothing left to add to Dragon Ball, which is Goku's story. Right now he's just Goku's grumpy sidekick.
I generally like the fact that Super actually took a few older characters that had fallen off as early as the Saiyan Saga and gave them a bit of a chance to be at least remotely in the spotlight again, albeit briefly. Seeing Krillin, Master Roshi, Piccolo, and even Gohan come back and actually do things again and be even partially relevant was amazing. But, in contrast, I'm still disappointed with how the series as a whole treats female characters. When it bothers to have them show up at all. There's been a few clear standouts (Kefla, Android 18) but even those tend to have very, very limited tenures in the spotlight and are almost always sidelined or used to prop up someone else. I get that writing cross-gender can be somewhat difficult, but it kind of sucks that as a female fan to see the same things keep happening any time we *do* get a cool female character.
I wanna see a future in the DB universe where humanity and sayajins(sp) have mixed and created a new powerhouse shaking up the universe and the threats that come for it. Goku and Vegeta acting as gods for the new world, pride and compassion together.
I personally find everything about Super to be a complete step up from Z. It tries to bring in other older characters with the tournament of power. It's villains aren't mindless berserkers like Buu or ...whatever Cell was supposed to be. More character moments, cool fights, some old era Dragon Ball humor. I really don't have much in the way of complaints.
My favorite thing about super is the spectacle. I watch DB for the fights themselves not necessarily why the fight is happening I just enjoy watching g the fight
I feel like the creators missed a HUGE opportunity with god ki - it could have been the great equalizer between the cast. Not necessarily in the literal sense, but if god ki was to be mixed with regular ki - some characters could perhaps utilise more god ki than others and bring the power levels more in line across the board. Think of something similar to Naruto's sage chakra, but you would not need to have a balance of 50-50% chakra, instead you could have any combination of regular ki and god ki. This way Piccolo could be around the Saiyan's power level for example - simply just by utilising more god ki than them. The cast could have useful powerlevels, unfortunately the show power creeped itself into oblivion with its many iterations of Saiyan recolours... Shame, really. If only they'd have put more thought into it.
As much as I tend to hate retconning, I think at this point they would be better off retconning the end of Z and writing a new ending based on the events of Super.
Stakes is not that big of a problem. We implictly know that the heroes are always going to triumph, it's about HOW they manage it. I knew that the Z-Fighters would win the Tournament of Power but I didn't expect 17 to be the one to wish everyone back to life! I think that can be given some leeway.
I really hope supers anime will get a continuation, i think they could really do the new arcs justice. Maybe even use hindsight to improve some parts over the manga.
I disagree with a lot of this, although I won't deny your points have merit. First of all, characters like Merus felt perfect for the length of the arc, although the anime has the potential to improve. The status quo may not be tied to end of Z to begin with; hasn't that expectation existed at least up until Cell? Super tends to strike out more often, but that is due to a variety that didn't exist in older days. _When you think about what Super did compared to Z, think about what Z did to the original series._ The scale of events through 2018 was much greater with its divine intervention, but to properly add in multiple universes may be too much of a toll or distraction from other plots. A few episodes each would work, but so much potential would be lost. However, the biggest disappoint, even more than sticking with Goku, would be repeating the GT arcs..
The ultimate love & hate relationship for me is the other universes. I love the multiverse established, I hate that we haven't gone there. As good as the new stuff has been, it doesn't change that we're STILL in Universe 7. Vegeta can really close up an arc he's been working through by going to Sadala and seeing all the good saiyans. One problem with the video though, you said new villains can't compete with the Z villain trio. No way in HIFL are you placing Buu above Zamasu and Moro.
Probably my biggest frustration about Super is that it’s basically devolved into the Goku and Vegeta show to the point that none of the others are even allowed to make meaningful contributions anymore. While we may get things here and there like Resurrection F, the ToP and Maro arc where the others get to fight, the majority of the time, the plot just doesn’t even bother to have the others appear at all, even Gohan who is arguably the third strongest of the Z Fighters, just so they can show us more if Goku and Vegeta. It’s sad how what was once such a rich cast has been cut down to just 2 characters. I wish they took a page out of Oda’s book in which, even if the other Strawhats aren’t as strong as Luffy, they’re never irrelevant
i don't see why it isn't practical to power up the human characters. There are existing ways for them to get stronger, like elder kai's ability(which gives a transformation that seems to be stronger than ssj3 with efficient energy usage) stacked with a better version of kaioken, biological augmentation(softer version of becoming cyborgs like 17/18), some other new form of training or ability they could gain. It's arbitrary to say that they can't get their numbers up to a certain level, it just has to be sold well and there has to be a solid explanation for why they didn't get stronger before. Roshi's performance in the TOP offers potential for this. Krillin in particular has an important role in the series as goku's first rival and student under roshi, and they seem to be pushing the importance of roshi.
It still manages to be suspenseful, even if we don't know how the major characters will make it out of this one. Just, please, let Vegeta be the big hero of the Granolah arc, and then start to develop more supporting characters going forward. I know a way of getting Goten and Trunks the same Rage form that Future Trunks got, if Toriyama could actually remember an important fact about the boys. Babidi's manhunt for the boys was broadcast telepathically worldwide. Even though Buu was forgotten, the boys were not. They would be known, at least subconsciously, to everyone on Earth. So if the people of Earth were told that these two were Earth's greatest hope, but that they would need everyone's support, then they'd be in a similar position to Future Trunks when he got Rage form. I know this comment is probably gonna get a lot of dislikes and hate, BUT I watched Bio-Broly a couple of weeks ago. Seriously, no clue why but it just happened. I actually enjoyed it WAY more than I did as a kid when it came out!
Why?
Because Goten and Trunks ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING! It wasn't like how they are in Super where they look somewhat younger than how they did in the Buu Saga and act like toddlers despite being in their teens! They didn't just fuse for Gotenks fan service, but then get beaten in like 10 seconds after providing some stale comic relief.
We see Goten and Trunks giving their all against Swamp Thing...I mean Bio-Broly and it was great because it had been SOOOOOOOO long since I remember these two actually fighting!

My favorite thing about Super was the early “Slice of Life” stuff that focused more on establishing the world around the character we already knew. Goku having a day job, the family life of Vegeta, Krillin, Gohan and where Piccolo fits in the laters life. When the show doesn’t call for a show of power it gives the non-Saijins a chance to take the spotlight and even harken back to the original Dragonball in how the world was presented as Gokus adventure rather than just training for the next big-bad.
This. The creators just don't get that we're watching for the charming characters and their antics, not for the action or "plot". Early Super to me was great because it seemed like it was finally pulling free rom the repetitive new bad guy-training-fight loop that Dragon Ball's literally been stuck in since the end of the Freeza saga that Shonen Jump and Toei marketing forced it into. Like the Universe 6 arc where literally the only stakes to the "story" were bragging rights for Beerus, the draw wasn't the story, it was that there was a tournament and that meant we got to meet a whole bunch of new fun characters right in a row.

I wouldn't mind at all if DBS had one saga dedicated to the different Universes, giving each universe a couple episodes to tell a story.
Universe 6 and 11 each already have enough options that could fill a spin-off, so a few episodes alone would already do em some good.
I rewatched the Tournament of Power arc again recently since that was my favourite arc and I feel the same way, every universe had such a crazy array of characters and the brief glimpses we got of each universe maid me want to see more of what their lives are like (the world needs more of Tuxedo Toppo!), it would also solve a lot of issues people have with Dragon Ball in general (eg Dragon ball's over reliance on Goku).

I understand why Goten and Trunks are not aged, but I'm still very sure that Making them grow up a little and having some time to shine would make them more iconic. I can picture them having sort of a Teen Gohan moment. How can that not be incredible and sell trillions of toys?
Yeah, it's past time for Goten and Trunks to actually mature and start being their own characters. If you want kid centered stuff, they can use Pan and Bra, but Trunks and especially Goten need to start showing some progression as characters if they want the franchise to continue on. I have my problems with Boruto, but I respect them actually trying to center the story on someone different and move things on to the next generation. DragonBall needs to do the same.

@@dariquewarren Won't happen. Also, funnily enough, Teen Gohan is like actually 11 lol. But regardless, Saoyan's don't really have teenage forms typically. They don't grow much until maturity, then they suddenly become adults. Hence why Goku always looked like a kid up until Piccolo Jr. Saga when he was suddenly all grown up in just, I believe, three years despite showing no age growth before that.

Best thing about Super is the worldbuilding. Dragon Ball always felt too linear, when things like Yardrat or Freeza's Empire weren't the immediate focus, they weren't mentioned in Z ever again. Super makes the world of Dragon Ball feel more like an actual lived-in world, and I appreciate that.
Super has slowly made a return to Dragon Ball's routes, taking the time to flesh out and explore the franchise's lore and unique locations.
I don't really like Dragon Ball Z past the Saiyan Saga, and I think that mainly has to do with watching the OG series first, and then watching as all of the elements I enjoyed from the original series, such as varied fighting techniques, tactics and styles, and those grand adventures, were abandoned in favour of buff, screaming blondes and regenerating opponents, on drab desert or forest backdrops.

Even the introduction of Beerus and Whis, and the pantheon of gods and angels is all great stuff.

Cons of Super: Not as much side character development, and it basically is the Vegeta Goku show.
Pros: We get to see more personal sides of the characters, such as Vegeta and his family, Gohan and his family and many other things like that.
All in all, I wish we saw more characters like Tienshinhan, Piccolo, Krillin and Gohan doing more in the major plots, and I would like to see them getting more special powers.
I came into DBZ back in 1994 while the Buu arc was playing in Japan. As a teen I gravitated to Gohan and he's always been my favorite these past 30 years.
Having said that, what Toriyama did to him for most of Super was straight criminal.

Seeing him slack off in in training and putting the world in jeopardy once I could see. Seeing him get lazy at the start of Super (now a second time) doesn't fit the character IMO.

Disappointed Super's anime has not come back. I loved reading the Moro arc even with it's problems near the arc's end. Personally in the anime Moro arc. Hope it uses the side character more. The anime usually uses the side characters better. I do think Goku fully mastered UI too soon. Wonder if character like Piccolo and Gohan will show in this arc.
The thing of Super is, that it has sooo many possibilities to tell amazing stories, with amazing character arcs, but it is held back by safe choices, over relience on fanservice, and retcons...
There are so many good ideas, but its execution is very underwhelming... and to me, and I am sure many others, more than an organic part of the story, feels like a "more of the same, but worse" (the worse being because it suffers from the same errors of the classic show, but it has no excuse for not fixing them)
I also think that I am not exaggerating much if I say that literally every fanfic I saw that is based on the super, feels far more passionate and interesting, due to simply daring to dare something different in a way...
DBS needs to take the comic book multiverse/MCU approach to storytelling and universe building!
You have SO many stories, development and goodness knows how many episodes you can get out of exploring the other universes and developing the characters from them, it is a goldmine if written right! 😎

I think the main thing I want is for them to wrap up Super and reach the end of Z, then start a multiverse arc where GT happened, but to another universe. Have our heroes face similar problems but maybe they discover the GT dimension and can travel between. I just want to push through and into a new story with HOPEFULLY Gohan as the true protagonist along with Piccolo as his Vegeta-esque training partner but with a much more interesting difference in training styles/transformations

I always say that God Ki really made the stories unbalanced, if they had found away to not make it so powerful , then they could find ways to have other characters relevant . But yes there is potential to turn super into an action adventure show
Or how about have other characters learn god ki and birth exclusive techniques that can keep them relevant? For example, there isn't anything stopping the earthlings from learning UI or Piccolo learning to tap into god ki. Conveniently enough this current manga arc is lowkey giving Namekians more lore so this could lead to something big with Piccolo
To be fair; in the manga the scaling is a lot closer down; enough that Roshi was able to hold his own dodging around Jiren. The anime is all out of wack though on the power scaling.

I hear what you're saying Masako, I just think there is something good about keeping the balance between world building and preserving the mystique. We didn't get Gine until several fan iterations of the idea of Goku having a mother. Sometimes letting things stew gives more time for creativity and new ideas that are BOTH relevant to the times AND stay true to the source material.

There is 100% a way to bring the Human's into relevance they introduced two concepts that give huge power boosts God Ki and Ultra instinct. They've already gave the latter to Roshi in a way now give it rest of the human cast and let them beat the underlings but not be enough for mid boss.
I still think the next group of villains need to be an army of Super Saiyain gods, because there are PLENTY of pure hearted Saiyan's in universe 6, and a straight up HUMAN who Uses Ultra Instinct.
I would also give Earthlings revelance by getting stronger through different means such as magic and technology. I would also give Earthlings their own unique power ups based on their physical traits such as Enlightened Monk for Krillin, Wolf Warrior Bandit for Yamcha and Crane Spritualist for Tien. I would also give Earthlings the ability to manipulate ki in unique ways such as turning ki into animals such as a Turtle , Wolf and Crane.
I would've given the humans their own "Enlightened" state to keep pace with the Super Saiyan pride colors.

Adult Trunks and Vegeta should travel to universe 6 to give guidance to, and relate to their race. To see them grow and have emotional experiences. Imagine Trunks and Vegeta having a sparring match at base that makes Vegeta proud enough to shed a tear or two. Then the other saiyans cheer and support their new family.
While in Universe 7, kid trunks and goten take to Gohan as a father figure. Sure, he might not be the ultimate fighter or the coolest guy around at the time, but it'd give so much room for them to all grow! Kid trunks and Goten could spark in gohan a desire to fight and actually have fun with it, while Gohan shows them that there's so much more to life. Videl, Pan, Piccolo, Hercule and maybe some Kame house friends/Z-fighters can pop in, too. Show Gohan being friends with everyone and watch how he gets supported by those around him. Might make Kid Trunks and Goten think about how they want to grow up.
Maybe Trunks looks up to his mother to become a tech genius. Maybe Goten wants to be a farmer like Chichi, or a world tournament fighter without the use of super saiyan.
There's just so much potential by this becoming a plot point that it's insane it hasn't already happened!

What I hate about Dragon Ball Super is how they took away alot of the characters development. Goku learned so much as did Vegeta but they made Goku into an fighting crazed idiot who should have known thanks to Cell to not give his enemies a senzu bean.

If I had to choose I guess its pretty much the same as you I like the world building seeing new characters, concepts new environments and how they are slowly fixing how fights are done in the series, adding ui makes it less about transformations, spirit fusion and haikai energy is changing how vegeta is going to proceed, the moro arc added the z warriors and for some reason i feel like they are gonna come in during the granolah arc or the next one too

Super was worth happening but to me it exists in an alternate reality. I can’t get over how off track it seems to have gone.
They should give the earthlings something exclusive to their race to give them relevance. For example, they could give them a secret ability that is needed to defeat a bad guy, leaving the quest up to the earthlings and maybe the hybrids as well
honestly I think some real fun could be had with trunks and goten if they grew up. We know they both have a love of dramatics and being flashy and it's cranked up even more as gotenks. So play with that and their desire to be heroes. Have them acting as the great saiymen now that videl and gohan have hung up their capes. Give them some time to shine, show trunks possibly showing that same love for a sword that future trunks does or tossing away the idea of a sword since he has no need for one, give them a reason to be flashy without coming across as obnoxious. You could even bring marron in on it. Have this seven year old girl in a super hero costume just throwing around goons and mechs.

Honestly I feel like the U6 Saiyans could have been done some much better in so many ways, even their designs feel so wrong when you look at most other DB characters (I am mostly refering to the noodle arm design, looks so silly to have huge buff people like Vegeta and Goku fight people with less muscle than me).
Also the way they went about them aquiring SSJ, while Cabba's wasnt bad Caulifa's was just stupid. I'd much rather they had made it so they already knew the transformations and had them reach new heights during the tournament when encountering difficult opponents.
Regarding expansion of existing elements of the Dragon Ball universe and lore, I'd like to see a Demon arc where we learn about Dabura, Demons, and possibly the Demon King Title. Maybe something related to Majin Buu along with all that too. New stuff with the Namekians would be cool as well, hopefully with Piccolo becoming relevant and strong again.

But since we're all big nerds here discussing RUclips comments, I'm going to write my comment to disagree on two points.
1) No venue to power up the human characters.
It's not that there's no venue. It's just that they just don't care. DB Super has been making up retcon after retcon after retcon, even if it's just for a dumb joke or a ding from the reference bell. I mean, you said it yourself, there's 12 universes to take something from, maybe there's a new training method for human-like characters there, or another bottle of The Actual Super Sacred Water to take a sip from, I mean, anything is possible! And before anyone comes at me with "THEY ALREADY HAD THEIR POTENTIAL UNLOCKED, IT'S NOT POSSIBLE!", characters have had their "potential" unlocked several time before already, and it's not like Dragonball has been strict with giving these character 'honest power'. I invite you to look at three moments in the series
a) Vegeta got through Namek by his Saiyan hacks by getting a huge power-up after getting his ass kicked to the point that it literally became a plot point when facing down Freeza, and even gave him the confidence to take on Freeza in his 4th form, when the 2nd had him shaking in his boots.
b) Throughout the entire Buu Saga, the only significant training that leads to a powerup is SSJ3 Goku, and he did that off-screen. The rest of the series is the characters quickly trying to cheat their way into new strength. Whenever Buu stops being a threat, he just absorbs another character and adds their power to his own. We've got two DIFFERENT kinds of fusions, and then we've got another power unlocking.
c) Super Saiyan God? Yes, if we manage to get 6 'pure hearted' souls from this race of insane, genocidal fighting monkeys together in this ritual, they can manage to get God Ki too!
Dragon Ball Super definitely wasn't perfect as it had its pros and cons similar to Dragon Ball GT despite not being canon and arguably worse but I think that we can all agree that neither of them lived up to the excellence of the original Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z.......

The problem with the whole "its the Goku & Vegeta show" is that this was already a thing in Z, after the Cell arc the humans and Piccolo starting playing smaller and smaller roles. Its beyond fixing imo and that is something happened long before Super, when battle of gods and rof came about that was the icing on the cake.
The humans I agree with in Buu saga, but Piccolo was always doing something or was incapacitated in that saga.

if Frieza and 17 can go from below Super Vegeta level to becoming stronger than Blue Goku, they can easily asspull the humans to relevancy (they've half assed it with Piccolo, but he's somehow near Goku and Vegeta's tier now)

The only human that truly got some loving (even if it was short in the larger scope of things) is Master Roshi. That guy actually kicked ass in the tournament of power. Krillin got knocked out too early, Tien got like 1 double knockout with a nobody throwaway villain, Yamcha wasn't even good enough to consider inviting.
Has it been officially stated that Super takes place between Buu's death and the tournament with Uub? I mean, I've always thought it was no longer cannon.

I'm just thankful that Vegeta is now obviously on par with Goku now, or at least they have different powersets from one another. Actually, that's one of the reasons why I like gotenks so much, he was a buffon, and had lots of unique attacks.
I think if they wanted to make the human characters important again, Krillin, Tien, Master Roshi, etc. could get their power "awakened" by the elder kai like Gohan did. I think the best time that they could've done that would've been during the survival tournament. Now, it would be okay to do that off screen. Piccolo could be made relevant again by maybe making a storyline about king piccolo (similar to Super Sonic Warriors) where they fuse.

I don't hate super. I just find myself mostly apathetic towards it while thinking alot of this was better on paper. To this day I haven't nor do I see myself buying any merch of any kind of the super series. I'd buy the manga but viz is still the licensee so that options out the window

One thing I love about Dragonball Super is the expanding lore of other Universes and other races such as Universe 6 Saiyans and Cerealians. One thing I dislike about Dragonball Super is the underutilized characters such as Goten, Present Trunks and Marron! I want them to get a spotlight in having their own individual arcs.
I see a lot of people saying the bad things about Super were the movie arcs and their horrible animation, some of the fights not being good (like how some of the punches don't have any weight in it), the lack of use of certain characters or changing the character themselves (treating Goku like a complete idiot when, yes he may not be the smartest or wisest of the whole group, that doesn't necessarily mean he is dumb as he is pretty smart combat wise and knows how to assess a threat), but for me, the terrible thing or what doesn't make any sense to me is the existence of the 13 universes.
With the introduction of Universe 6 and it being a universe similar to the one we know, we obviously got hyped because we could see more saiyans and possibly different versions of Goku, Vegeta and Frieza for example. Heck, i think back in the U7 VS U7 arc, people were speculating about this being the way they would introduce the movie characters like Slug, Turles, Cooler and Broly (which in my opinion is better than what we got. Except we got Blue Frieza, Vegeta wannabe, Female Broly and Cauliflower, Black Namekians and... i think thats it in terms of comparison to Universe 7.
You might be wondering why i think this is a issue. Well, what was the point of all of this? Yes, i can understand its just stupid to create more Saiyans and just claim 'Oh we were off planet when Frieza destroyed the planet', but its even stupider to create 12 different universes and not live up to the hype! I mean, why create a parallel Universe if you're not going to do the obvious thing and do a reverse on the characters personality? Like have an evil Goku, or a good Vegeta, or a good Frieza?
And its not like 6 and 7 are the only parallels! Whis states that all the universes that add up to 13 are parallel to one another, but besides some of the 6 and 7, none of the fuckers from the other Universes look alike!
And we don't even see ANY of the Universes! Besides a few glimpses on how they look like for a few minutes, we barely know any of these Universes!
In my opinion, they shouldn't have added Zeno to begin with, let there be just two Universes (in case they ever went with the parallel route), and have the Gods of Destruction distributed into sectors. That way, you don't create too many things at once and you still get the parallel effect you were going with

I don't really like coolers portrayal in heroes tbh. Especially since him getting a golden form contradicts the fact that Cooler actually trained for his power unlike Frieza.
a lot of super feels kinda shallow in the sense that we have all these universes n such but nothing is really done with them. if they made spin-off shows or ova's with the cast from other universes that would be great, or even do some episodes dedicated to whats going on with the other z team members, such as piccolo going to yardrat cas think about it yardrat is the perfect place for piccolo to learn new things it fits his style completely. so far a lot of what super introduced feels more like a tool for hype but nothing else, as most of it is never acted on.

Low Stakes: Pretty much agree. Personal stakes are different from global stakes, and in all the media I've seen and spoken with other fans about, they tend to far and away prefer personal stakes. Broly's a good example of this, because you know that if he dies during the fight, nobody's going to bring him back, no one who cares will get the chance, and he's just been hard done by in life up to that point. Little different from "But will these LITERAL PHYSICAL GODS be able to beat the bad dude this week?!" Kinda loses its impact when you realize the story isn't willing to do a straight-up crawl out of oblivion.
Enhancing Lore: This one's touchy. When you change authors, what qualifies as "enhancing the lore" and what qualifies as "officialized fanfiction?" Because to me, Namekians being from "another realm," and said realm being so vaguely defined, really straddles the line. On the plus side, it's a way to make non-Saiyans more relevant - see also Gohan not wanting to use SS any more, while regaining access to his Potential Unleashed..."form." But on the minus side, what the hell does that mean? It feels a little forced when you can't define whether it means another universe (one of the erased ones?) versus another timeline, versus Other World, or maybe something outside Zen-Oh's multiverse entirely. And the fact that even during the Namek Saga not a word of this was even breathed....yeah. There's obvious retcons, and then there's that. Even Goku being an alien was alluded to. Still, you do have a point, and it's nice to see the universe(s) at large rather than just "oh here's the latest Bad Thing on Earth."
Superficial Treatment: Ehh. I see where you're coming from, and I'd like to see more of the expanded stuff as well, but I don't want them to just abandon the old stuff, either. And it's really hard to tie stuff back in the old lore (Moro with GSK, for example) when you just pack up your stuff and head off to Universe 8 or wherever. It needs time, and with the sheer volume of stuff added, it needs A LOT of time. We got enough of Gowasu, for example, but it took quite some time, and any other universe's SK would need at LEAST as much.
Variance in villains: Mm...this was actually one of Super's weak points, I think. Not necessarily the variety, but the overall quality. Moro's been better, but SeriesBeerus was eh, Golden Frieza was eh, Hit was cool but not particularly special (he reminds me of a repeat of Tien except less of a straight asshole to start), Zamasu...I have gone on at length about why I hate him and will refrain from doing so again, and Jiren was one of the most boring antagonists I've seen in anything ever. But at least his fight scenes were cool?
The Goku Show: In fairness, it's a tough problem to solve, since Goku is the biggest gun they have. That changed in Z, frequently, and it worked in the OG series because he was having fun silly adventures and the combat was almost (ALMOST) ancillary. Now, though, it's either "Only Goku has a chance" or "Goku shows up, Saga Over." If anything, I think they've been doing the best they can - Krillin and Piccolo are more tactical, Gohan's a jack of all, Tien is technical, Master Roshi is evasive. Goku hits things hard. It's a hell of a change from the Cell and Buu Sagas, where Piccolo fell behind and Tien was the only Earthling who could even pretend to be relevant. I'm not sure what they could really do to change anything about it that wouldn't be in direct conflict with the Low Stakes problem. Unless you want every single arc to turn into the '08 OVA. Although it would be nice to see Goten actually DO something. Anything. Preferably without Trunks in the vicinity. Poor kid.
I, uh, seem to have missed the last positive. You went straight from "wanna see the next generation" into "Authors talking to editors." But in any case, I've yet to actually own any of Super, outside of the manga and Broly - I'd like to, at least from the U6 arc on (I never want to see the first two Sagas of Super again holy crap), but they're kinda expensive. Shock of shocks, anime is expensive, I know. But yeah, it's still real good to see that they're still invested in it. At the end of the day, Dragon Ball is a huge fanbase. And by extension, there's a metric ton of toxicity and fake fans who don't respect the author or just want to find new and exciting things to complain about. Super's a good show overall, with some issues. That sound familiar to anyone else? Nothing's perfect and I think it holds up pretty well as a whole. It's not breaking a ton of new ground, it's not setting new standards, but Z exploded because it was a product of its time. Super's time is a much, MUCH worse time for things to become breakout hits, just because of the oversaturation of anime in general. It does fine.

The low stakes really made the Universe 6 tournament actually matter. Moving the planet to Universe 6 would have give Super actual plot and consequence and wouldn’t impact End of Z, as well as give an entire new universe of stuff to explore and enemies to find.

I definitely agree with Gohan's hairstyle being kept mostly the same like the Cell Saga it's a real shame that Toriyama was close to keeping that cool hair doo in fact their is fan art of an 19 year old gohan with a slight tweak of his cell saga hair doo and I will definitely say he looks great that hair doo will make it easier to know when he goes super saiyan that makes it look even closer to cell saga hairstyle then when he goes super saiyan 2 like his iconic super saiyan 2 cell saga hair with Ultimate Form being a black haired version of that hair could've been really neat to see during super regrowing bit by bit that long hair that he has when he was a kid

Honestly I too have mixed feelings towards DBS though it would be easier to list the shows and media I didn't have mixed feelings about these days. The first 2 movie recap arcs were a waste of my time. The Universe 6 Tournament Arc had a few solid moments but overall was just Dragon Ball playing it dreadfully safe. The Future Trunks Arc was absolute bananas and wild but for the great majority of it I enjoyed the arc's story and it was the first arc to make me think DBS actually had something to offer. Then I saw the ending of that arc and my opinion of the show promptly fell back down to where it was. The Universe Survival Arc is mixed, in some ways it shows the worst of DBS and in others the very best. It's also quite tragic in that I actually think by the time the Survival Arc was reaching its conclusion the show felt like it had found its feet. As the anime ended it finally had some degree of confidence. The Moro Arc was full of promise and was a genuine delight to read up until the final battles where it lost me. But thanks to a certain someone my opinion on the final Goku vs Moro fight shifted and I now think very highly of the arc's conclusion even if I think the arc still dropped the ball a bit.
I have genuine interest and hope for the Granolah arc and it has yet to disappoint. Overall the series hasn't done much to earn my affection and when it has it's mostly down to Toyotaro's manga than it is the anime. But I remain ever hopeful.
I particularly agree about the Goku and Vegeta show. I'd say it's part of a larger issue, which is that, well... DBS doesn't really have a story. It's literally a fighting context where villains show up and Goku and Vegeta have to take turns to fight them, and this absolutely wasn't the case in DB, DBZ and DBGT. There WAS a story back then, the story of Goku's growth, and Vegeta had a specific role in that story: he was there to kickstart and accompany Goku's evolution from naive kid to proud and mature warrior/man. Once that evolution is complete, Vegeta's role is over. I'd gladly watch a spin-off show with him as the full protagonist, but he has nothing left to add to Dragon Ball, which is Goku's story. Right now he's just Goku's grumpy sidekick.
I generally like the fact that Super actually took a few older characters that had fallen off as early as the Saiyan Saga and gave them a bit of a chance to be at least remotely in the spotlight again, albeit briefly. Seeing Krillin, Master Roshi, Piccolo, and even Gohan come back and actually do things again and be even partially relevant was amazing.
But, in contrast, I'm still disappointed with how the series as a whole treats female characters. When it bothers to have them show up at all. There's been a few clear standouts (Kefla, Android 18) but even those tend to have very, very limited tenures in the spotlight and are almost always sidelined or used to prop up someone else. I get that writing cross-gender can be somewhat difficult, but it kind of sucks that as a female fan to see the same things keep happening any time we *do* get a cool female character.
I still think piccolo deserves more love and needs a power up
I wanna see a future in the DB universe where humanity and sayajins(sp) have mixed and created a new powerhouse shaking up the universe and the threats that come for it. Goku and Vegeta acting as gods for the new world, pride and compassion together.
I personally find everything about Super to be a complete step up from Z. It tries to bring in other older characters with the tournament of power. It's villains aren't mindless berserkers like Buu or ...whatever Cell was supposed to be. More character moments, cool fights, some old era Dragon Ball humor. I really don't have much in the way of complaints.
What villains? Besides Mr. JRPG Asshole God Zamasu. And anyone in the manga since that's a separate continuity from the anime.
My favorite thing about super is the spectacle. I watch DB for the fights themselves not necessarily why the fight is happening I just enjoy watching g the fight
I feel like the creators missed a HUGE opportunity with god ki - it could have been the great equalizer between the cast. Not necessarily in the literal sense, but if god ki was to be mixed with regular ki - some characters could perhaps utilise more god ki than others and bring the power levels more in line across the board. Think of something similar to Naruto's sage chakra, but you would not need to have a balance of 50-50% chakra, instead you could have any combination of regular ki and god ki. This way Piccolo could be around the Saiyan's power level for example - simply just by utilising more god ki than them. The cast could have useful powerlevels, unfortunately the show power creeped itself into oblivion with its many iterations of Saiyan recolours... Shame, really. If only they'd have put more thought into it.

As much as I tend to hate retconning, I think at this point they would be better off retconning the end of Z and writing a new ending based on the events of Super.

Stakes is not that big of a problem. We implictly know that the heroes are always going to triumph, it's about HOW they manage it. I knew that the Z-Fighters would win the Tournament of Power but I didn't expect 17 to be the one to wish everyone back to life! I think that can be given some leeway.
I really hope supers anime will get a continuation, i think they could really do the new arcs justice. Maybe even use hindsight to improve some parts over the manga.
I disagree with a lot of this, although I won't deny your points have merit. First of all, characters like Merus felt perfect for the length of the arc, although the anime has the potential to improve. The status quo may not be tied to end of Z to begin with; hasn't that expectation existed at least up until Cell? Super tends to strike out more often, but that is due to a variety that didn't exist in older days. _When you think about what Super did compared to Z, think about what Z did to the original series._ The scale of events through 2018 was much greater with its divine intervention, but to properly add in multiple universes may be too much of a toll or distraction from other plots. A few episodes each would work, but so much potential would be lost. However, the biggest disappoint, even more than sticking with Goku, would be repeating the GT arcs..
The ultimate love & hate relationship for me is the other universes. I love the multiverse established, I hate that we haven't gone there. As good as the new stuff has been, it doesn't change that we're STILL in Universe 7. Vegeta can really close up an arc he's been working through by going to Sadala and seeing all the good saiyans.
One problem with the video though, you said new villains can't compete with the Z villain trio. No way in HIFL are you placing Buu above Zamasu and Moro.
Probably my biggest frustration about Super is that it’s basically devolved into the Goku and Vegeta show to the point that none of the others are even allowed to make meaningful contributions anymore. While we may get things here and there like Resurrection F, the ToP and Maro arc where the others get to fight, the majority of the time, the plot just doesn’t even bother to have the others appear at all, even Gohan who is arguably the third strongest of the Z Fighters, just so they can show us more if Goku and Vegeta. It’s sad how what was once such a rich cast has been cut down to just 2 characters. I wish they took a page out of Oda’s book in which, even if the other Strawhats aren’t as strong as Luffy, they’re never irrelevant
i don't see why it isn't practical to power up the human characters. There are existing ways for them to get stronger, like elder kai's ability(which gives a transformation that seems to be stronger than ssj3 with efficient energy usage) stacked with a better version of kaioken, biological augmentation(softer version of becoming cyborgs like 17/18), some other new form of training or ability they could gain. It's arbitrary to say that they can't get their numbers up to a certain level, it just has to be sold well and there has to be a solid explanation for why they didn't get stronger before. Roshi's performance in the TOP offers potential for this. Krillin in particular has an important role in the series as goku's first rival and student under roshi, and they seem to be pushing the importance of roshi.
It still manages to be suspenseful, even if we don't know how the major characters will make it out of this one. Just, please, let Vegeta be the big hero of the Granolah arc, and then start to develop more supporting characters going forward.
I know a way of getting Goten and Trunks the same Rage form that Future Trunks got, if Toriyama could actually remember an important fact about the boys. Babidi's manhunt for the boys was broadcast telepathically worldwide. Even though Buu was forgotten, the boys were not. They would be known, at least subconsciously, to everyone on Earth. So if the people of Earth were told that these two were Earth's greatest hope, but that they would need everyone's support, then they'd be in a similar position to Future Trunks when he got Rage form. I'm just happy we're getting more Dragonball media. Also, GoT & Lost kinda set a high bar for me as far as disappointing endings go.
