Hearing this it strikes me that Jesus is a teacher, just like our idea of a guru (guru means teacher). To be a disciple a follower of jesus we sell our belongings and give our money to the poor. And then we follow jesus. Is that an initiation of sorts? And it isnt a difficult initiation ya know...nothing easier than getting rid of money.
