Been doing this for 20 years, plexyglass, double sided tape and wet & dry. Cool clip!
Good lesson ..fine sandpaper is a good honing material and sharpening ..Thank you for sharing
Thanks!!
It's good n cheap. Always a good thing to have on hand.
Great video for inexpensive sharpening! I've used sand paper for a long time for sharpening and it works very well. A while back I bought some self adhering wet/dry sand paper sheets and they're also excellent for making boards like this. I have no idea how much they cost, but they definitely weren't expensive. I mounted mine on a thick piece of glass from an old coffee/side table I found on Facebook Marketplace for free. This glass won't bend or warp, so it's great for anything you want or need to remain perfectly flat. I hope someone finds these little tips useful!
Did you cut the glass? If so, how did you cut it?
@@darowino94 I didn't cut it. Since it was kind of big I was able to put 4 different grits on it.
Very cool
Thanks!
I am hoping that you can tell me what hook knife you use. It was in one of your videos. It has a # 7 on it.
That one was made by OCC tools :) its a nice lil hook knife!
@@CarvingisFun I am having trouble finding it. Where did you get it?
OCC was bought out by kryshak carving tools, so the places I bought them may not have any during this transition.
But you can check here:
kryshakcarvingtools.com/spoon-carving-gouges-knives/
@@CarvingisFun didn’t see the same one
I believe its this one but they dont have a picture up yet kryshakcarvingtools.com/spoon-gouge-7/
How long does the sandpaper last?
If you use a lubricant (in my case, just water) it can last several months to a year depending on use. I don't think I changed mine for over 6 months.
@@CarvingisFun ok thanks for the info.
@@CarvingisFun And what do you do next? Can glue be removed easily?
@teodorowicz I find it to be easy enough to be removed. I have also been super lazy in the past and glued another right on top.
@@CarvingisFun So as it occurs, something happened with my laziness, because I did not think about that possibility :) Thanks
