BEST Lost Souls Shawl tutorial out there … can’t wait to try other tutorials by this content creator!!!
Thank you for recording this! I kept seeing written patterns for this, but I'm a visual learner, so now I feel comfortable making this!! ☺
+Kate Ryan I'm so happy my video is helpful! Thank you for watching and commenting 🌸🌸🌸🌸

Search lost souls shawl on Ravelry. Or look in the description box for the link. Thank you for watching.
Just finished my 1st Lost Souls shawl...and immediately starting a 2nd. I LoveLoveLove your tutorials! Thank you!
I've been crocheting for about 3 maybe 4 years now, I taught myself basics from a stitch guide, YT has been my teacher for about 3 years. I love this shawl and your skills are amazing you teach with such a calm manner. I have learned so much from teachers like yourself and I appreciate the hard work that goes into making these helpful videos. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this, and all, of your wonderful tutorials! You are an excellent teacher, and a magnificent crocheter! Without your easy to follow instruction, I would be lost. The time and effort you put in to these videos is greatly appreciated!
+gdubrow13 I'm so very happy to hear you've been enjoying my tutorials. 💕 It makes every minute preparing worth it.
Thank you for taking the time to comment and let me know, I really appreciate your kindness 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
This concept is an ancient tradition in Mexico el dia de los muertos which stems back from the indigenous people before colonization. A day we remember those who have gone before us. I will be making lots lots of these!! Mil Gracias Jonna Martinez!!
+ilza de blankenship that is so interesting! Thank you for taking the time to comment and for watching. 🌸🌸🌸🌸

I live in southern New Mexico close to Juarez, Mexico. Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a big thing in this area. You can find skull artwork on everything imaginable. I look forward to making this. Thank you for the tutorials and thank you to Maryetta Roy for creating the pattern!
After watching the movie coco I learned so much more about Dia de los Muertos!
I love it. And have been getting more into sugar skulls and art like that.
Make sure to also check out my newer tutorial: lost souls stole
You can make a blanket with it!
Thank you for watching and commenting. 💞
@@JonnaMartinezCrochet Thank you for the suggestion. I'll have to check it out.
So since its a triangle if you just made four different "Shawls" then you could sew them together to make a blanket pretty much
Kristie T I understand four shawls togheter... thanks
Or you could get to the width you want and begin decreasing the skulls, so it's made corner to corner. 💀 💀
MrsBrit1 that was my idea too.
Awesome idea
@@MrsBrit1 i wish i knew how to do that.
I must say I love your tutorials, you are one of the few that cares to explain and show step by step instead of just talking. This is the second one I make the first one was the peacock pineapple shawl.
I’m very happy to hear this! Thank you so much.
Finally I found the tutorial for Lost Souls shawl!!! Thank you very much! 🖤🌹
This pattern is so easy with your help. I just started crocheting about 6 months ago and I've learned a lot from RUclips, this though, I think has been the most fun. I'm making this as a christmas gift for my bonus daughter. She's going to love it!
I love your tutorials! As someone who learns by following along, they make this so much easier. I'm currently working on one in the Red Heart stripes yarn in Newspaper (a really nice black white and grey), and have plans to make one in Bright Stripes as a Day of the Dead shawl.
Thank you soooo much for this video! I had been discouraged from trying this pattern after watching a different video on this same pattern. It was very confusing so i never tried it. Your video is clear and easy to understand. Thank you for taking the time to post this. Luv it! I enjoy all your tutorials!
It looks so detailed but following the tutorial makes it so easy - many thanks.
This tutorial is AMAZING! Thank you so much 😊. I have been asked to make 3 of these for my family members and your tutorials are making it a breeze. Glad I found you! It’s a good pattern but not so clear without your help 😂
Amazing thank you for recording this. perfect pacing I followed along perfectly! You’re a lifesaver!
Thanks a lot for this beautiful tutorial, I found the right way to make it. Your explanation is just wonderful.
Yay, i finished my skull shawl and i love it and i can’t wait to wear it!!!!
This was perfect amount of rows to be able to make a bandana using this pattern 🥰 thank you 🥰
Im so glad you have put this video guide out there, because there are several instructions kissing from the written pattern, which would have left you missing side skulls, or only half a skull and stuff, so although I assumed that it was done a particular way, it was a relief to be able to come here, watch it being made and see what you did in the parts that were missing from the pattern, since you aren't following the pattern yourself to make it, you're doing it all from memory.
So if anyone is making this, make sure once you have done half a row, that the 2nd half is pretty much done the same way...follow what is done in the video, more so than the pattern.
I’m happy you found this tutorial helpful! Thank you for watching and commenting.
This is a truly lovely lacy shawl. You work very hard on your turorials and I very much appreciate all your hard work. You do good job! Glad I found your channel.
Love the yellow cake!! It’s screaming pineapple shawl/wrap at me!
Best tutorial ever. Thank you for such detailed instructions. ☺
Holy cow this is gorgeous! Thank you for posting this!!!

Ur such a very good explainer and I can't wait to start this project very beautiful work well done thank you so much for sharing this video
Thank You so much for this tutorial I purchased the pattern ages ago, but being a visual learner and teaching myself to read/action crochet patterns, though I can crochet, wasn't easy. Love your voice and instructions and clear visual placement of stitches, Thank You, looking forward to more skull tutorials from you, hint, hint ;) ♥
+Jay Star I'm so happy my video was helpful! Thank you for the complements, and for watching and commenting,
This is fabulous, I did a swatch in crochet thread size 3 and 2.5 mm hook and it turned out beautifull. I'll certainly be continuing it to make myself an elegant summer shawl. I am new to crochet so in very early stages of learning to read patterns. Your videos are so easy for me to follow and a great help to me. Looking forward to seeing many more of your tutorials
+Krissy Booth that will make a beautiful crochet shawl! I'm so happy you liked my video and it's helping with pattern reading.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I was able to follow the video and patterm and learn how to read the pattern so I can make this when I do not have access to youtube. Thank you!!!
Thanks Jonna for a great tutorial! Well thought-through and shown. Would never have been able to make this from the pattern only. Looking forward to more "alternative" projects :)
+Julia Stenstrom that's great to hear! I'm so happy my video was helpful. Thank you for watching!
This is so useful! I chose this as my very first crochet project (I'm an experienced knitter but don't usually enjoy crochet) and some of the written instructions were very confusing. After watching this part I've been nailing the entire pattern. Thank you!
Wonderful to hear! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank you for this great video and Part II.
thank you very much for this video! I would have never known about this pattern if I had not stumbled across your video! Also the video helped me understand the pattern instructions so much better!

Just found your video and you are amazing and so easy to follow
Thanks for the video. I'm a beginner to crochet so found video little to fast so keep pausing. But you explain well and the constant talking of what your doing is so helpful.
i am so excited to try this! My oldest daughter loves skulls so I am going to try to make this for her birthday. Think it will look fantastic hanging on her wall! Thank you for this tutorial, it is easy to follow since I still can't read the patterns.
+Missie Carroll If you print out the pattern it is very helpful to use with the video. This will make an awesome wall hanging !!
Thank you for watching and commenting
I just love this... I’m a big skull fan so I just have to make this beauty... you explain it so good it can’t go wrong... thanks.

Love your videos! I attempted a skull shawl exactly like yours, but her video was not as clear and easy to follow as yours! From now on. I will stick with you! ❤
She is amazing! We're you able to find the free pattern?
This pattern is not free anymore. Here is the pattern link on Etsy: www.etsy.com/listing/1063184377/

Such a great tutorial! I've been using that Peaches and Cream cotton yarn for shawls this year. This pattern translates beautifully and the skulls are really defined. Thank you for the video !
I was thinking about using sugar cotton wheel by hobby lobby
@@ediehatter766 Sugarwheel? Is that the same thing? 💘
Wow Wow Jonna, I'm back to Crochet after many years and back then I hadn't done much, your tutorial is AMAZING thank you. I'm onto the second faces now but have to go to work, so easy to follow you thank you so much xxxxx

My next project. This is easy to follow. thank you
Wonderful! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thanks for the video. It has made understanding the pattern easier. I am wondering about the best yarn choice though. I have my first attempt in Caron cotton cakes - a cotton acrylic blend, but the drape seems a bit stiff. Perhaps it will become better after blocking...also I am wondering on how to modify the pattern into a cardigan type garment. Really, just a rectangle would do, but the base has me stumped. I was thinking a chain long enough for each piece followed by a row of single or maybe double then going into the motif.
thank u my daughter love the pattern she said thank u to
I purchased the written form of this pattern on Etsy. I find it easier to learn from a video, though. Thank you for this tutorial!
Thank you for supporting the pattern writer with your purchase! I’m happy to hear the tutorial is helpful.
I need this inverted. I am going to try to work this upside down. thanks for the great video.
Try among the video at a mirror. That’s how my grandmother taught her left handed kids how to crochet! Thank you for watching!
Grazie per il bel tutorial e lo schema😊
Beautiful as always! You go so fast, I had to pause constantly, but I'm getting there! I'm actually looking at making this a bandanna, as well as a shawl.
+Dawn Schell thank you for telling me. I will keep a check on speed in future videos. I'm so happy you liked it! Thank you for watching and commenting! 🌸🌸
I've only been crocheting since February. I have made 4 virus shawls already, and sold one! This was my first attempt at the Lost Souls.
+Dawn Schell wow amazing! Good for you! Your lost souls will be beautiful I'm sure. 🌸🌸
you can also adjust video speed in settings
Congratulations on the great success of this tutorial! The yarn you're using is backordered on two popular craft sites.
😹😻🤣😂
Oh wow! Well you can use any worsted weight yarn for this pattern. 💞 Thank you for watching and commenting!
it's great. thanks for sharing.
+Rose Culp thank you for watching and commenting!
Love this shawl very much. Also like this video. Your instructions are very clear. Your voice is very clear and you talk in a medium speed. Can you also please show us how you end this shawl the way it is done in the finished one in the beginning of Part 1. Thank you
+Maribel Teklado yes! I will be uploading part three soon!
Thank you for watching and commenting 🌸🌸🌸🌸
You are a very good teacher
You are so kind! Thank you for watching and commenting.
I have watched and followed you forever...you are a great teacher, your voice is very calm. I hope you make a blanket someday, with the skulls. I am making this now for Halloween and I am draping it on the table. A square or oblong would be better, but it will look pretty spooky (This is my husband (Roberts) email account...I am Linda 🌸
Reading this made me very happy! It is wonderful to know you’ve been following for a while. ❤️ I would love to do the blanket version of this.
Someday it will happen!
Thank you for watching, commenting and following me!

Amazing videos! I must say, after several attempts to crochet this on my own, you made it clear, concise, and easy. Do you have a newsletter? Cannot thank you enough!
+Jerrold Black I do have a blog.

I am so happy you liked the video!
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Hi Jonna - thanks sooooo much for the fine tutorial. I have been watching it over and over again. Now I am able to follow the pattern. You have been a great help. Do You have other toturials? Kindly Conni, denmark.
+Conni Simonsen I'm so happy you liked this video and it was helpful. I do have other videos!
No more skulls right now but hopefully in the future.
Hello to Denmark from Maine USA
Thank you so much for watching and commenting 💕🌸🌸🌸🌸
Very good nicely done
Thank you for watching and commenting!
It’s a beautiful pattern and a great tutorial, however working with Caron Simply Soft yarn is a beast. I’ve been crocheting for over 20 years and know how to chain neatly and hold my tension and this yarn slips and twists and snags so much it’s annoying. I had to switch to Lions Brand yarn, which worked up much better.
you are the best thx 😘😘
+May & julie jubrail thank you❤️
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Thank you for this!! I'm making a bandana style scarf for a friend and the written pattern wasn't making sense. I was ready to give up!
That is wonderful! I think more people should make them small and use them for a scarf! I am happy you liked my video and that you didn't give up! Thank you for watching and commenting
I was wondering if you could make a tutorial for a lost souls beanie to match the shawl?
+mandy clark I will look into it thank you for watching and commenting!
Oh it's meant to look like skulls.....brilliant!
+Journee Home thanks for watching and commenting 🌸 I'm happy you like it! It's defiantly a mixed reviews piece 😄
thank you very much
Your video is very easy to follow and I want to make this for my teen granddaughter. I have DK weight yarn and will be using a 4 mm hook. That should work right? I also have the pattern. Thanks!
Yes! That should work beautifully. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I want to make a poncho with this pattern,, if you can make a video tutorial for this please..
Would love to have this as a square tutorial. For a blanket or curtains. Please do this.
I’ll let the pattern writer know! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Hi Jonna! What a great pattern and you teach it well. You do go rather fast, but that's OK :-) I'm writing because I don't know if I'm missing something or just not reading the pattern right but Row 10 says nothing about adding a 7sc string at the back of the row. Am I reading this pattern wrong? Thanks!
Love making this shawl, just wondering if you could show us how to do the finish. Hopefully I can just figure it out , lol!
+mandy clark yes part 3 coming very soon!
+Jonna Martinez awesome!! I'm almost done with my shawl then!!
