    This Guard is not a statue to be stared at or mocked. He is a living breathing Military Soldier serving his King & Country. Please show him (and his fellow Kings Lifeguards) the respect he and they deserve. Just by saying a mere thank you after having their photograph taken with the horse Guard and in acknowledgement for their service isn't too much to ask....is it? 😊

    • @UKImmigrationLawGeek
      @UKImmigrationLawGeek Год назад +21

      Yes. I cannot believe how awful people can be. There was one recently in which a young woman touched The Guard's Sword.
      I have seen many people film The Guards and they do so in a very respectul way. I recently filmed two of The Guards a few weeks ago and when I finished, I smiled at them and thanked them. I also filmed a person having his photo taken with one of The Guards. On that particular day, we did not hear anyone get scolded for things such as touching the reins.
      I also find it a bit odd that many people choose not to thank The Guards one they have taken a photo.
      Although I enjoy watching these vidoes, it amazes me how people choose to behave. Why do some people mock and ridicule The Guards? Surely they must realise that it is just such an inappropriate thing to do.

There are too many lunatics out there nowadays, to be sloppy about security. Doesn't matter if they have been trained in 'Combat' as one commentator has written. There are literally two armed police officers by the center gate behind the guard. Not one of them approached the tourists for disrespecting, mocking, standing too close to the guards. What, exactly, is their job description to allow this behavior? Not to intervene unless asked by the guard? Threats come from everywhere. Vigilance is not their priority; chatting with each other seems to be.

      If enough of these vids from all 5 or 8 of the presenters on YT are watched, one theme is common: Anything and everything is absolutely allowed, until at some point, one of the guards screams out, and or does a mock-charge with the horse. Even then, the heavily armed police security detail does absolutely nothing. Doesn't matter if it's a staggering drunk, belligerent homeless man, or a transient crazy-lady screwing with 1 horse for 45min and preventing everyone from getting a photo, the police officers blatantly refuse to do their job. Oh, let me guess: "That's not why they're there."

    If it was something dangerous by the time Bill and Ben reacted it would be too late and what a stupid thing to do anyway when there are armed police around and given the type of world we live in nowadays.

    People are so rude & disrespectful now. I'm an Aussie who's Father (WWII & Grandfather (WW1) fought with the Poms front line. When I was in London in 1977 & saw the Queen's guards, I thanked them for their service.
    Tourists, as I was, were very respectful of the guards.
    Humans have obviously gone backwards, so sad to watch the deterioration 😢

    So patient are the guards. The breast plate on the standing guard is so shinny that you can see all the movements in front of him reflected. It must take a lot of work to keep the plate, helmet & buckles on the uniform so clean and shinny as well as their boots and the horses chains & metal parts of halter & harnesses clean too.

    The rudeness is extraordinary. As a person who served for a quarter of a century - although not in a ceremonial manner - I feel the time has come to end this practice of subjecting our serving soldiers to such ridicule; which is what it is. I could half accept if it were taking good photos in the old way, but not the ones where for some reason they have a need to include a mugshot. End it now.!

    I get it, pomp, tradition, solders at their finest. And I'm proud of the history and achievements of the British army. But why do they put a soldier in an impossible situation as to stand and be at the beckon call of the public who don't understand that they are not Disney.
    Need to re-examine the protocol. At least create a distance between them and the public.
