    This is without a doubt the best video I have watched about the Caledonian Sleeper train. Thank you so much for taking the time to make it.
    All the best.
    Jimmy

    How wonderful. F6 is the room I've been allocated when I travel next year on the sleeper! Nice to see the room I'll be in!

    Im thinking of travelling by train from London to Scotland. I might take this train. I love travelling by train in comparison to plane as you can see beautiful scenery during day time. Nice video by the way.

      +Alma Stevenson Thank you! It’s worth checking whether the lounge cars are open again because they’ve been closed during the pandemic. Having a meal and a night cap is all part of the experience!

    Firstly I prefer travelling by train as opposed to plane because it's more environmentally-friendly. Secondly, I've used the Caledonian Sleeper to travel from Edinburgh to London on several occasions and each time I've been able to access the LNER First Class customer lounge at no extra cost from 21:00 hours until my train departed. I've copied the relevant section from the Caledonian Sleeper web site for your information. Thirdly, I can't see the point of paying £60 extra for a toilet and a shower in your cabin when you've already got a wash basin (sic); there are showers available at Edinburgh Waverley (£5); and there's a toilet on the train at the end of your carriage. Fourthly, thank you so much for calling the wash basin in your cabin what it is - a "wash basin" - as opposed to what it most definitely isn't - a "sink". Finally, here's what the CS web site says about lounge facilities : "Edinburgh Waverley:
    Monday to Friday - 06:30 to 09:30, 20:00 to 23:59, Saturday - 09:00 to 17:30 and Sunday - 09:45 to 19:00, 20:00 to 23:59. The lounge is operated by LNER. Tickets accepted: Caledonian Double/Club. Please note, the showers at this Lounge are currently unavailable. Please speak to our staff in the LNER Lounge to receive a voucher for alternative station shower facilities."

      Thanks for your comments. I must have been unlucky - the LNER lounge was closed and in darkness when I tried to go in at 10:30pm. I actually returned home the following night in a Classic Room which was fine (although they’ve now decided to always have them in twin bunk mode - whereas at launch they said they would make them solo according to demand).
      One thing I found about the Club rooms which I didn’t say in the video was the sloshing of the water from the shower or toilet tank was very off putting - made me feel seasick. The Classic rooms don’t suffer from sloshing sounds! 😀

    You can get classic rooms way cheaper than £140. I'm traveling in late March with a Railcard from Glasgow to Euston return for £66 each way. Total £132 RETURN..

      Those are great prices! Lowest I’ve seen a Classic Room is £130 - but I don’t qualify for any rail cards at the moment! 😀

    Have you been on Lumo. Perhaps you should do a review of Lumo and the Class 803.

      Thanks Andrew - I definitely want to do a video about Lumo. I believe the seats are a bit of an improvement on the Azuma Standard class seats. I’m looking forward to checking them out! 😀

    Sleeper wins hands down. If you factor in the first class travel and en-suite room with breakfast, the price tag is a bargain. How much would a first class ticket cost during the day, plus a hotel room, and half a day lost to travelling.?

    • @RogEdwardsTV
      @RogEdwardsTV  4 года назад

      duncan smith Definitely stacks up against, say LNER First Class plus Hotel. If you’re cosy conscious though, EasyJet plus a hotel would probably be cheaper. Much prefer avoiding airports though.

    so the train waits around in the station once you arrive at the destination so that you can shower and eat? how long do they allow you to stay on the train for before you must leave for the next guest?

    • @RogEdwardsTV
      @RogEdwardsTV  4 года назад +1

      When you arrive in London they let you stay on until 7:30am. For Edinburgh arrivals it’s 8:00am. There are no new guests until later that night - they take the trains away to a depot for cleaning.

      +Roger Page The longer into COVID we get - the more I realise how miserable the airport experience is. Trains all the way for UK travel in future.

      Well i never have been on a sleeper train and on my list after April 30th next year when I (hopefully) make 75. I have two options .. A Edinburgh & return or Fort William & return .. with the trip to Kyle included steam hauled. Club Class would be our option and I found your experience most informative - thank you. So if you do a trip to Fort William or any of your subscribers I would like your thoughts on how it all worked out. Thanks Roger.

    • @RogEdwardsTV
      @RogEdwardsTV  3 года назад

      @Roger Page My pleasure. If you do the *Fort William* route you get longer on the train and incredible views in the morning as you have breakfast. Hopefully by next April things will be back to normal.
