- This video is of Driver 2 for the PSX. This game has to be one of the buggiest, broken but the most fun for it's time. Adventuring through the cities. I don't think the graphics are hugely better than the first, neither was the AI.

These Driver games are the best. It was like playing a movie. Great story as well! I feel like playing this again.
Brings back a lot of memories. My friend and I would play this for hours, just driving around and causing chaos.
Doesn't matter which version of the Driver games - stealing a cop car, hitting the sirens and then getting chased by other cops is THE best feeling ever!!

this was the best driving game of its time... i sure missed it so much. i was 9 when i last played it...
this was one of those games i would play everyday as a kid brings back memories
awesome game, this and syphon filter were my favorite ps1 games
heh, the Chicago map always brings back memories of timing insanely high jumps over the draw bridges just before they completely escalate.
This was the first game I ever played, about 10 years ago, and I still love it!

Holy crap I remember this game from years ago... I still have it :) It's one hell of a game, it beats Driv3r and Parallel Lines anyday.

I remember going to the parking garage and getting the mini cooper and the baseball field had a sick mustang or something. oh and you could sit down on the chairs which at that time was amazing to me.
Daaaaamn! I remember when i was about 4-5 years old and i was playing this. Oh my god.. It was so good. I want to go back to past. :)

I used to spend 5-6 hours everyday playing this game, 2 hours in story and the rest driving around, makin' chaos!
San Andreas is my favourite GTA! Love the Tanner remark when you sneak into Madd Dogs mansion. LOL
God I miss this game, I lost it, such a fun classic game...
I remember getting this game for Christmas in 2001... On the back of the game manual was an ad for GTA 3, on a better console than I had :(
this is the first 3D freeroam driving game before GTA3.. correct me if i'm wrong..

I remember this game was so damn hard, and just so good!
I had Driver 2 but after playinga bit of Driver I realized how much more fun D1 was. Driver 2's graphics really took a toll on the system, resulting in low framerates when more than one or two cars were present.
i remember goin to vegas in this game and hittin the jumps in the desert part with a truck.
I remembered this GAME! I find this game better than GTA by a long shot!

Man i remember when driver 2 came out and the character could exit and enter cars and it was in 3D i was like wtf this is best game ever and i loved the school bus to drive hehe

Yea GTA fans owe a lot to this game. Not to mention the Driver is just a driving game. The ability to get out of the car was mostly so you get a better feeling of freedom and you have a second chance if you total your car! People need to realize they aren't the same game. Except Driver 3 and Parallel Lines, they can rip on those all they want. XD

I remember when i was 6-7 i played this , i remember the whole city , there was some bridge that is lifting up , and you can jump of it with car :)

@TomClark2 Not to mention that the console was already old when this game came out. (We're talking 1994 technology here!) This is pretty sharp-looking for a PS1 game, IMO, although the draw distance and framerate are quite bad.

my brother sat on disc 1 and chipped the edge off, I can only play until the last Chicago mission and it freezes, but thanks to being able to save "configurations" I can still free roam in all cities using the second disc, plays amazingly smooth on PS3 by the way
this graphics are actualy kicking ass :D .. for that time they were incredible :O....

WashedoutGamer, Driver: San Francisco went back to the early days of racing games and didn't include any on foot action. After the average Driver: Parallel Lines sales, the dev's went back to the basics.
In the chicago stage, who among you tried speeding up the drawbridge and then pressing the triangle button while in the air??? i laughed so hard when i saw what happened...

@TomClark2 Thank you for speedy reply, i wasnt sure if my old PAL copy would run on ePsxe, no worries about the lag on the video, epsxe 1.70 has some good tweaks for audio and graphics. Thanks again. ( no need to reply to this msg)
@TomClark2 I know exactly what you mean. The Driver series is based on driving and chases, where GTA is mostly about killing. I've never played Midtown Madness believe it or not. I have an old original Midnight Club for my almost-busted PS2. That game was fun for back then. I've been getting recommendations for Midnight Club. I might just buy one for my 360.

Damn, Tanner's shadow had two weapons but in the actual gameplay you didn't even used the one in your hand, but hey this game is awesome and I love it, my favorite level is Las Vegas. :D

in the beginning, if you wait for like 5 or 8 seconds and drive straight...you would be able to ramp the bridge way ahead from there :D i used to do this every time..if u dont do the right timing then either a police car would chase you (but that just makes it more fun) or you'll miss the bridge going up or get there too early...its funny how i loved this game nd thought the graphics kicked ass lool

Doesnt fraps record your screen, isnt this on a ps1/psx becuase it says in the description, 'Driver 2 for the PSX' :S
@Saysoccer1 these were top notch graphics back then, playing smoothly in a machine with a 39 mhz CPU...

by coincidence, i played this game right through today. was easier than 10 years ago, but still pretty hard. doesnt compare to vice city but theyre not really comparable since its a different generation. alot of the missions felt the same, and usually it only took me a couple of turns and long stretchs of straight before i made it to the goal. in gta they make u turn more. anyways, 10 hours later i enjoyed it. really like the physics and music and the atmosphere was ahead of its time

True, there weren't that many 3D games for the PS1, because it seems to me that it wasn't meant for 3D.

Some people say Driver 1 it's better, but Driver 2 story is much better.

This game actually plays best on the Ps2. I don't remember exactly how well on the Psx, but I know on the Ps3 it runs significantly worse (frame-rate dips, graphics). For the most part, it runs really well on the Ps2. I hardly ever see any big slowdowns or freezes, like in this video. I know you said this is on a Dual core PC, too.
