Both equally beautiful. Leaned slightly toward the spruce. Yesterday, went to Descanso Gardens, a local horticultural treasure, and in the Japanese pavilion, a jazz guitarist was playing a cutaway nylon string into a simple amp setup. And, wow, the audience grew and grew and listened motionless and intently. In a space of true beauty and calm, nylon was the perfect voice.

The Cedar sounded a bit warmer but both were really nice. Beautiful guitars!

Your playing is off the charts Cooper! While both guitars sound great, I love the sound of the spruce top. IMO it produced a wider frequency range.

I really like that demo music, Cooper. Great mood. Nice guitars!

Reminds me of a video Alamo did earlier. I had Cooper do a sound example for me. I've tried both nylon Taylor's and Martin's. I really liked the Furch cedar, and got that GNC4 CR at a price lower than others I've tried. Thanks, Cooper and Chris.

I was playing the Spuce yesterday and it is stunning. It has real depth of tone and clarity. You really can play flamenco. I have a beautiful cedar Yari. The SR would be perfect companion.

Beautiful guitars and great playing, Cooper! I go with the cedar - it has the "something" indefinable.

Beautiful guitars! But I personally thought the Spruce sounded way better. It sounded dynamic? The notes and strings popped more.
The other was very flat in my opinion

I’m so glad I found your channel. I saw the video comparing a Furch Vintage OM style to a Martin, and thought it was a gorgeous guitar with great sound and so when I began looking for a nylon string crossover, I specifically looked to see if Furch made one. Then the hard part was deciding between spruce and cedar. I chose spruce and couldn’t be happier with it. Mellow but clear. Cooper plays it better than I do, but I sure love the sound here at home! Thanks Cooper!

Cooper your playing on the spruce top inspired me to buy one in Australia this morning. Great demo of a range of sounds .I have cedar top in the cheaper Furch nylon & I love it. Enjoy Alamo demos & comments.

For a nylon string, I'd take cedar every time.

So interesting how guitarists gravitate towards one or the other. I’m personally into the spruce but there is no right or wrong answer. It might even be an excuse to have both. I don’t have a Cesar top guitar currently

I preferred the Spruce, but trooper performance by Cooper with the Cedar as started to drift out of tune

I was never fond of cedar until I played a Furch cedar 12 string… it was amazing , I almost bought it .. until I played the Taylor 362 Blackwood (2022). But yeah I prefer the cedar for nylon and 12 string over spruce. But for all 6 string steel string…. Spruce all-the-way

I could go for a nylon string guitar cause I play Baritone and standard Ukulele with nylon strings and know the tension conditions.
    Have a wonderful day.

Excellent demo, guys! My question is: if i lean towards the cedar top, what kind of strings (nylon, titaium, carbo, etc) would make the sound brighter, as close as possible to the spruce top? Much thanks and enjoy your channel.

Why is Chris never playing anymore? I miss getting to hear his playing, but also simply that the fact that he played the same pieces every time made the guitars‘ sounds so well comparable across videos.

Which of the two guitars, in your opinion, is more suitable for alternate picking (al di meola/Mclaughlin style)? Thanks!

The spruce sounded better in the demo. Bright clear tone.

I had their Little Jane. Furch make a nice guitar, but I would rather have the Taylor or Martin nylon crossover.

    • @texhaines9957
      @texhaines9957 Год назад +1

In my trial, the Taylor 814 and other nylons did not have the bass of the Furch GNC4 CR and were thinner sounding. Tried a Martin 000C12-16, but the neck was longer and nut wider than the Furch...something I need to consider for my wounded fretting hand. It also had a different tone with mahogany.

Appreciate these are crossovers, but 45mm nut does sound a bit narrow. 48mm-50mm would be better, still not classical but not too cramped either. That said depends how these play, I’d probably buy one without trying if they had wider nuts but being what they are would have to play first.
