I love your reactions to Ren because (knowing that he learnt from your videos) it's like watching his college music teacher analyse his performance. I've not seen any artist since Bob Dylan who can make every performance of every song sound completely different, while still keeping the integrity of the original. Switching genres to playfully experiment with his vocalizing and phrasing, and not flinching when earlier 'fans' demanded he play each classic as they first appeared on record. I love that he just decides to go with the imperfections. My life is not perfect and i want to connect with music that is real. Pursuing perfection usually means that the soul has been removed in the pursuit
What makes this even more amazing, is that it looks like they jumped on a real bus and tried to fit the live play in before the bus reached its final destination, you hear the announcement at the end, and you hear him saying it was really close, I think he maybe missed a tiny bit of the end off because he didn't want it interrupting his performance, so he was trying to time the performance with the speed/distance of the bus journey.

On top of all his talents Ren is just absolutely hilarious too 😂 Love this man. Ren is something very special. No wonder the #RENegade is kinda like a cult meeting down the Ren rabbit hole - with all the other animals he dragged down there.
Next best thing to a new Ren video is the inevitable Chris Liepe reaction video. Love the way you analyse his performances and your enthusiasm for the art of singing in general.
Ren is the first musical hero I've had since I was a teen in the seventies. Time for you to interview him, no? Edit: "it's not about perfection". Precisely! That's why Led Zeppelin is my favorite band.
I was born in the 80s and Led Zeppelin is also my favourite band. I love all types of music and got into Hip Hop a couple of years ago. Ren is my new hero too! I just FEEL his music and rythm to the core of my being. It's a visceral thing. Absolutely tremendous. This is his time.
I found that when I started to learn bass guitar, I had problems with the rhythm, my tutor said start singing the notes as you play them, after a little while my tutor said "I see you have been singing the notes" and that my rhythm and playing had vastly improved "keep doing it in the lessons" and I did. I now always sing along when I am playing.
You would really like Ren and Sam Tompkins song Blind Eye. There are several different versions but my favorite version is of them singing it live. The one with the best audio is on Music Crowns youtube channel. Then I recommend watching the one on Ren's channel, it's Blind Eye featuring angry car park attendant. It's one of my favorites! You'll have a field day with their vocals. 😊
Love your reaction to Ren. He is so interesting. He is using his voice, his acting and his guitar in such a unique way. The acoustic version is just as cool as the video version.
I feel like his busking skills help him understand what we will like...he communicates and reads the crowd....rem please play a full set live. Acoustic....your supporters friends and fans will support you and follow your vibe. Utter talent and a pleasure every time I listen

Thank you for this great reaction! I've appreciated each of your Ren videos very much. I believe you too feel something incredible is happening. Ren is Truly captivating. If you have not already, Chris, PLEASE check out The Big Push. Ren's performances in their live busking videos are fantastic (and the two other guitar-playing vocalists are consistently really very good.) Their harmonics in set pieces like These Shoes Are Made for Walking and Praise You will give you great examples of their vocals. Additionally, the whole band is truly dynamite in their live busking-- on the sidewalk! You won't believe the size of the crowds they draw! For you, I suggest seeing The Big Push performing I Shot The Sheriff as a great first viewing of the band. I am 76 years old and have watched countless Ren videos every single day since I stumbled upon Hi Ren about a month ago. I am mesmerized by Ren's myriad talents, his finely honed skills, and his enormous mental perspective which includes obvious compassion as well as some very helpful messages for mankind. (Can't wait for you to hear The Big Push rendition of I Shot the Sheriff. It's mind-blowing!)
Love the analysis! I think you would really like his older song Fire from his Freckled Angels album. It's another style of music in his repertoire but still uniquely Ren.
Ren just showed us his new favourite song "Kansas City " by Dirt Miller. Its reaaaally unknown yet and deserves way much more spotlight. And I'm pretty sure you would like it ;) Ren has commented there and asked us to show some love. Please spread the word as well, Chris. Would love your analysis to that unique voice
I feel like the produced and live version of Ren's Genesis is a perfect example of how he adapts his stuff to acoustic so well. It's recognizable, but entirely able to stand on its own without all of the produced content alongside it. It's like he's always thinking in that busking mindset, where he has a second plan for how to effectively do the songs live, rather than just playing the track back.
If you haven't already, watch some videos of Rens band The Big Push. Shows another different side to him. They have music videos on their channel for some really good original tracks (such as Dignity, Precious, Why My Woman etc) and there are a few videos of them doing covers whilst busking also.
Since I became a fan and have been singing along with a Ren, I've noticed some changes in how I sing. My voice is still out of shape from years of not using it enough but I sound better, articulate better & I can hear & see more passion. I like what you were saying about his guitar use. I'm nothing like Ren but I can play. I only do so, to enhance and back up my voice. I have so many Ren favorites. This is one of them. Especially at the end 😂 I shoot videos of myself regularly, (just to know what I'm sounding like), but I do the same thing as Ren 😄 I'll be like, "ah shoot, I almost got it right"!!!! This may sound strange but I get a Bob Dylan style of song construction here. In that he writes in a way which let's any listener put their own melodies over the tune. It maybe unconscious. I can take his songs and move them into completely different places by harmonising over it in a different style. It's hard to explain. Bob Dylan once tried to explain it by saying he doesn't always include the melodic parts you expect to hear next...because he doesn't need to...the listener has already formed that in their head. They give you space to form part of the sound yourself. Other songs by other artists don't always allow for this because of how they add so many layers to the production. They don't allow the listener to fill in the gaps and contribute. I hope that made some kind of sense 😂
