    I recently had my Santa Fe fixed with this problem. All of my Canisters needed to be replaced and all my fuel lines replaced and worst of all they had to drop my gas tank and clean it all out because the charcoal beads got into it. Just one particular canister cost me $700, total for the job was over $1300. And that was a local shop I trust, not the dealer. Never going back to the dealer, I bought the vehicle at back in 2011. Got free oil changes for life but last year the last change I received took 2 1/2 hours, even though I had an appointment. Never again unless if's for a recall.

    Fuel tank vent valve or vapor canister vent valve are two possible causes. This happened to me, and the fuel tank vent valve was bad. When I fill the tank after the pump shuts off automatically when the tank is full, I do not add any more fuel like some people do. When the tank is full and you put more fuel in, the fuel goes to the charcoal canister. Like the video states here there should be no fuel in the canister, and only fumes should be there.

    I can usually put in another 1.5 to 2+ gals after the initial stoppage so why stop? If I stop when the pump first stops, the tank will not show full.

    Both my GMC Sierra and my Vette as do 5 gal jugs do that. I"m sure it has something to do with the auto-cutoff based I suppose on the foamy looking bubbles it makes when filling. I simply adjust the spout on the filler and it'll stop.

    Vapor canister or check the lines to the canister. Had an 05 Tahoe I bought from someone… don’t ask me why but there was some kind of what seemed to be pellets in those lines. Got them all out, fueled with no problem.

    Yeah ‘98 Altima has had this for probably 15 years. Unplug the hose from EVAP or Valve and you can fill up no problem (this was just a test. Didn’t leave it that way) They wanted $250 or something like that for that canister (just the part)

    I noticed I had a kink in the filler neck. The rusty rear gas strap fell off and the filler neck which I had replaced not long before this was holding all that weight and when I replaced the strap and pushed the tank up it got a kink. Should be an easy fix but not in cold weather when the rubber is hard.

  • @mikep490
    @mikep490 3 месяца назад

    Excellent video, but there's one step missed. Cars are equipped with roll over valves. On Fiats there is one where the filler neck meets the tank (part of the fuel tank) and a second that's part of the in-tank fuel pump. These, as the name suggests, keeps gas in the tank if the car rolls over and they can stick closed. These can often be unstuck with a light rap with a rubber mallet and filling the tank slowly seems to extend this "repair" for a longer time. For the fuel pump either a rap or blowing compressed air backwards can unstick it.

    The nozzles are designed to shut off when fuel covers the sensing port at the tip of the spout inserted in your car. Turn it upside down to see the port. Typically if it shuts off it's FULL. Do not top off. The tank in the car is designed to have a certain amount of air space at the top (ullage). Again it's FULL. Stop rounding up to the penny and if need be, see someone about OCD. Dispensing equipment at the station can fail and wear out, but by topping off you're going to damage the car and the dispensing equipment. As an engineer working in the gas and oil dispensing industry for the past 25 years, take this mans advice and don't top off.

The new nozzles also did not fit other cars, and they had people spilling fuel all the time, complaining the pump keeps shutting off.. no one hardly gets gas there any more.

    My 2017 Malibu capless fill is frustrating to fill at pumps where the nozzle won’t go fully inserted…if the pump has wire type springs on the nozzle I try to screw it in and flip it upside down… tends to work. Regardless I never had an issue in my life with any other normal gas cap. Terrible design…If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
