This has excited me to write again! I was such a writer in my school years… but life has snuffed the desire . Coming across you today is stirring something inside that has been silenced for decades!! Ty
Barry, your writing advice is so much fun, and can lead to better writing. I enjoyed the video and I've enjoyed writing my mini-sagas. I use fountain pen and my Mnemosyne A4 journal. Thank you!
I just found your page, and I'm now hooked! I'm addicted 2:49 to stationery and my stories and I often wonder if should step away from the laptop and screen more often.
"Squirrel, daddy, squirrel!" Katie squealed. Paul picked up the rifle, glancing at Katie's eyes to place the squirrel. He swung the rifle to the spot and then narrowed the sights on the animal. Slowly cocking the mechanism, he slowed his breath and drew a bead. Pow! Missed! The squirrel ran.
I have been writing in a pocket notebook, one page per day, for the last 7+ years. I occasionally miss a day or two, but make it up sometime later in the week. I know it’s not story writing, but more of journaling or documenting. I believe it has changed my life. The ritual is the important part.
I think writing poetry serves a similar purpose. It's not about deciding what words to use to convey this thought; rather, it's what is the one, precise word that will work better than any other to exactly express this thought.
I'm new to your channel. The mini saga idea really took hold for me. I'm writing one mini saga a day for 50 days. Today (Aug. 4) is number 4. Thank you so much for the idea!! I look forward to more videos. 😊🙏
Lovely to see you here :) A mini-saga a day for 50 days!! - Brilliant, just brilliant!! :) Thanks so much for letting us know. Look forward to hearing how you get on. Thanks again!
I'm studying an English literature and creative writing degree, and the one thing they warn you about is that being published anywhere is very very rare. So well done you 👏 Personally I use a4 note pads, writing double spaced and on only one side of the page in black. Then i write instructions etc to myself on the blank page. The double spacing allows me to add additional dialogue when i need to. It works great!🙂
Please do give it a go; you never know what might happen :) I'm currently republishing my mini-sagas book, so should be available on Amazon shortly. Thanks for your interest.
Really enjoy this idea. Godot waits till I’m seated to start talking. He’s asking a lot of questions and not waiting for answers. He’s getting panicked saying he doesn’t have enough time. Others have started to look at me to silence him. I wish I could, but Godot is me. Godot’s my stoma.
Thank you for the inspiration! I selected my small notebook and pen specifically to try this and wrote my first 50 word saga today regarding Isa 47:4- Jehovah Go'El, God the Redeemer.
I have always loved pen and paper and writing. I been writing poems which are mostly short at least mine are. I was thinking I bet I could keep my stories to one page of the field notes. Talk about a short story. LOL. Or maybe fill up the full book. I mean 48 pages for the pocket notebook is ‘short’. 😂 Yes, so many times people are verbose and it is like word salad for my brain.

Ah, that is wonderful! Let the silence be no more - perhaps your first mini-saga could be about that? :)

:) Wonderful to have you here! :) Definitely try stepping away; you'd be greatly blessed. Many thanks!
What a great idea! Making it exactly 50 words must really focus the mind.
It sure does :)

That is wonderful! All your writing is your overall story of life :) Thank you for writing.

Agreed. Mini-sagas can easily turn into poetry and vice versa.

Hello Susan, many thanks indeed :) Sounds like an excellent method! - thanks for sharing that.
Excelent vídeo. Thanks.
Ah, you are very welcome - thank you!
Not much of a writer (of stories), but this is something even I could try. Are your collections available on Amazon or other sites?
Please do give it a go; you never know what might happen :) I'm currently republishing my mini-sagas book, so should be available on Amazon shortly. Thanks for your interest.
Thank you so much for this. Exactly the explanation I needed. I'm so inspired and excited to begin.
That's wonderful!! Hope you have a great time writing them! :)
Thanks Barry! This could lend itself well in writing modern day parables?
Great thought!
What a great thought. This was my problem too when I trued to write. I will have to try mini-sagas as well. Thanks so much
That's great!!! Let us know how you find it.
Really enjoy this idea.
