I’ve got two sets of mlk1650.3, phenomenal sounding speakers! As you said the tweeters are really smooth and at the same time very detailed in their performance

Great review!! Very accurate. I have the 1st gen mille 3 way and 2 way crossovers, 2 pairs each. The Hertz 8" subwoofer is great, 4" vc. Also have the JL Audio W7 10" sub. Amplifiers are the memphis mc 16 4 x 124 (X 2) mc 16 4000 sub amp. Monsters.
Silk tweeters have an amazing frequency response. Smooth and very transient. At a certain decibel level they will sound like metal dome, but without the harshness.

If I had to choose between the three types of drivers as far as what's the most important to me and what I would spend the most money on, I'd say the midrange.
That's the driver reproducing vocals and our ears are extremely well-tuned to what the human voice sounds like. I think vocals are the hardest to reproduce accurately.
The tweeter and subwoofer are also important, but since they're out of the vocal range, it's a little easier for them to fool your ears.

I would not consider a three-way front stage to be an upgrade over a two-way. It really comes down to the vehicle and your mounting locations.
If your mid location is near the floor you're simply not going to hear the upper mid-range frequencies. In this situation, the three-way setup is the better choice. You can mount the smaller mid-range much higher and get smooth frequency response.
On the other hand, if your mid location is much higher in the door or in the dash, then a two-way setup will work great in delivering the full frequency range.

I originally had the Mille pro tweeters but I sold them and I sold the Mille pro crossovers to help me get the Mille Legend tweets.

depends on the drivers but letting midbass play all the way down to 60 is a slight mistake imo. the large cone movement is likely going to hurt its sq performance and volume potential further up, and the sub can go to 70 or 80 no problem. bass/midbass in doors playing directly at each other can also cancel each other out leaving a dip in the freq response
