Hi there... you have a beautiful sound, great playing :-) I am wondering that since you have a stereo pedal, do you have to use the two inputs on the focusrite to record stereo or if you can you use a TRS cable and plug the Left and Right just to one input in the focusrite? So the question is: can the line inputs in the Focusrite receive a stereo signal. Thanks, all the best Paulo
Thank you very much for posting this. I've been trying out a good way to record my trumpet through my reverb unit. I have a way to do it but its somewhat cumbersome, looking forward to trying this method! One one hand i wish i could keep a dry track separate from the effect, but on the other hand if you have it sounding how you like it then why not record that way. Thanks again
Hello, I’m using a tc-helicon mic mechanic and tc-helicon harmonizer that I like to connect to my Focusrite solo using a condenser mic. However, these pedals have XLR in-and outputs. Can I in that case swap the patch cables with XLR cables to get the same result? Cheers
I don't play flute but I really like this channel. I don't know what you think of this but I think the HOF Revern sounds better than the Alesis that you were using a couple years ago. What Mic Preamp are you using?
Hello! This was just a video to show how it could be done. I was using old, I mean very old, equipment to show the signal path. My project studio mic, the one in this video, is the AKG P220. The preamp is an old M-audio Audio buddy, I was just using it for phantom power. My main effects peddle is the TC Electronics HOF. I had it set up on my mixer and didn't want to take it apart. Cheers!
This tutorial is awesome and it really clearly explained how to set up the external fx chain. Absolutely excellent video, thank you for sharing your knowledge with everyone! : )
Thanks a lot for the Infos!! I have an usb mixer too, thinking about to get an interface.. by using an audio interface would the Sound quality be better or not?
Hello! I use a USB for most of my recording just so I can insert effects directly into it without a preamp. To be honest, in my case, that's the only advantage to using a mixer instead of an interface. The mixer does give you many more options as far as equalizers and sound levels though. But to answer your question, I can't really tell a difference in quality of the recording between mixers and interfaces.
@@CaneMajor thank you very much, you help me a lot !! Last question :) Which headphones do you use on Your behringer mixer?? Does it have a Low impedence something Like 30 ohm or more Like 250?

Hi! good video. So basically all you need is to connect your pedals into the interface and that's it? I have a question. Is there any way to modify the chain order of the mix between the physical pedals and the chain in the daw? For example, i have a physical compressor pedal. But i want to use it AFTER an Eq Plugin that is in the daw. Is that possible? thanks!

Hello! That's a tough one. The only thing the pedal will control is the signal to the sound card. I don't see how you can use it to control the plugin. Give me a little time and I'll see how we can make this work.
Do you have any tips on routing the output of the interface through a pedal, and then back through the input? Thanks so much for staying in touch w/ the comments over the years.

Hello! There are a few interfaces with inserts that let you connect pedals directly and many USB mixers that do as well. Fewer manufacturers are making interfaces with inserts though. Most people that use inserts are guitar people and they plug their effects into the line in jack on the interfaces and mixers. Good luck!
Hi Can you tell me are you still connected to your mixer, i have connected the way you said to the my buddy preamp and pedal but i cannot get the sound live from the speakers unless i record on my daw through my scarlett, can you tell me what i am doing wrong please.
The only way you'll be able to get live monitoring is from the Scarlett headphones and speakers. If you turn the monitor knob to the 12 o'clock position you should be able to get a Mix of the live monitoring and what is playing from the software. Let me know how that works.

Hello! That's definitely a different approach! How would you go into the instrument inputs if they are covered by the XLR Jacks? I can see the connections being made with one mic though! Mic going into the #2 XLR input on the interface. Then the out from #2 going into an effects pedal.
