Hola Aliki. Great work as usual. Very informative. Some days ago, Peru won as the best dish based on chicken in the World ( Pollo a la Brasa }. Also as the best Food destination during the World Travel Awards 2022 .

Starting in Lima is great advice. We are planning 2 days in museums there as a primer for the other 16 days. I think this is a well laid out itinerary. Hiking around Colca is also high on our list. Keep it up and feel free to check out our new father-son, anthropological travel channel. Cheers to your travels and channel. - Turtle

After going to Machu Picchu twice I can honestly say I would skip it. It’s become so restrictive that it’s no longer fun to visit. Keep in mind the bathroom is outside the park! You can only go through it one way, and you can’t go back.
Its so hyped that it’s become worse that Disney land!

Very fair points! I think if you have never been it is still very impressive. But personally I wouldn't go again. It is a one time thing 😊

Aliki cuando vuelves? Me gustaría que volvieses y hacer una ruta gastronómica para descubrir muchos platos de nuestra amplia gastronomía y porque lo explicas súper bien. Saludos

Thanks for sharing your recommendations! I feel a strong call to visit Peru but feel a bit scared as I have never been there on my own (I visited once with a friend and that was for a volunteer project so we were in good hands) - I'm a female solo traveller in her late 20's. I'll be taking my laptop with me as I work remotely and am considering whether to get a proper "anti-theft" backpack. Do you have any thoughts about this and if you have any wisdom from being a female solo traveller yourself in Peru and any advice, I'd greatly appreciate it!
    Thank you so much! Catherine

Yes Peru is amazing, you definitely have to visit! I did this trip with my boyfriend but still safety is always on my mind. I believe Peru is one of the safest countries in SA and it has all the infrastructure in place for tourists which makes it even more safer. I travel with normal backpack and I have one main rule I follow - never be the only person on the street! As long as you are within tourist areas and people you will be fine, as long as you watch your bag of course. But really in Peru I felt safe. I do not walk really around in late hours, so I am generally very cautious person so I have avoided any issue. If you go to places liek Arequipa or Cusco, completely fine as a solo female traveler, Lima maybe I would be a bit more cautious but if you stay in Miraflores then again top expat location, fairly safe. :)
