    I am occasionally alarmed at how loud and SATISFYING my neck popping can be. Every once in a while it'll pop in such a way that I'm SURE I've broken something and that I'm gonna paralyze myself.
    Does that fear stop me from cracking the neck again a few hours later?
    I'll let you take a guess.

      It certainly does feel good. I don't think I've ever worried about it, but sometimes people have asked if I'm ok afterwards. Apparently it alarms some people.

    What is the biological cause behind the 'chills' or goosebumps, specifically wheb listening to grandiose/epic music or a powerful speech etc.
    I have yet ro find a definitive answer on this.

    • @michaelsethmeltzer
      @michaelsethmeltzer 10 лет назад +4

      Joonatan isn't really refering to the goosebumps caused by temperature, rather caused by epic sounding stuff. What you are talking about is the piloerection caused by Frisson.

    • @Kacc36
      @Kacc36 10 лет назад +1

      It makes hair stand up straight and traps heat. Also in some animals it is used to make them seem bigger and scare away predators. Getting them from what you said could be caused by an Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response or ASMR (also called a "brain orgasm"). There are many ways you can experience an ASMR and goosebumps is one of the possible "symptoms." Scientists don't really know why ASMRs even happen so your question can't really be answered. Hoped that helped some.

    • @TheVelvetTV_Riesenglied

      Then maybe it´s not your joint, that´s cracking, but the tendons, that streak over them

      I can crack the knuckle in my left ankle over and over again too! I always thought it had something to do with the fact that I dislocated my left ankle 3 years ago while hiking...

    • @SleepyFen
      @SleepyFen 10 лет назад +6

      I'm with the guy that suggested it's your tendons. In order to repeatedly crack my feet, I have to move my foot into a position where I can lock the tendon and then move my foot to make it "snap" back in place, resulting in the cracking sound (that's my guess anyway). You *do* have joints in your feet which can genuinely crack, though. The ankle is a notable joint which I can crack once in a while after having rested my feet. If I stand up and move a foot behind me with the heel planted in the ground (like a fighting stance, but with the hind foot's heel on the ground like when you're stretching your leg), and then shift my weight to that hind foot, I can crack my ankle joint in a way that's different from the crack that I can repeat at-will.

    Well shoot, what does it mean then when you CAN repeatedly crack the same joint? I can repeatedly crack my left thumb over and over again seemingly for infinity if I wanted to. Is there something wrong with the fluid in that joint? Or does it just dissolve the bubble unusually fast?

    QUESTION!!!! - Is there a reason why all the planets are( pretty much ) all on the same plane? in the 3 obvious dimensions of space why does gravity seem to work on a flat plane? I've been trying to understand this for years. Like every time they show a gravity demo, ie the trampoline and ball, it's missing something. The 3rd dimension.

    • @sterlingmartin2098
      @sterlingmartin2098 10 лет назад

      I know! it's so aggravating when they do 2-D models of gravity. I want a 3-D model or an orbital plane explanation .

    • @Plazmax88
      @Plazmax88 10 лет назад +2

      Well, when the sun was formed, all the leftover gas formed in a disc around it, much like the accretion disc of a black hole, an that condensed to form the planets, so they are all on the same plane. The kuiper belt and the oort cloud, however, are a lot wider, so pluto and the other dwarf planets, stick out of the disc.
      Also, the "trampoline and ball" thing, is visualizing 4-Dimensional space-time in a net of 2 dimensions, the real thing is like a grid of trampolines, being distorted by the 'ball' that is a star or planet. Unfortunately, [puny] humans are beings of 3 spatial dimensions and as such cannot visualize or comprehend 4 dimensions, so we use 2

    • @bryanrusnak9900
      @bryanrusnak9900 10 лет назад

      I guess then the question is WHY do the discs form near the equator of the gravitational object? why is the force stronger there. I would invision a cloud of stuff spinning around it ( like the oort cloud I suppose, but not so far out). And I like the other guy saying about the grid of trampolines. I would like to see some kind of demo even if its a computer simulation to show it.

    • @Micklemoose
      @Micklemoose 10 лет назад +2

      It has to do with the fact that rotations require 2 dimensions to work in and our universe is an odd number (3 dimensions), so there is always one left over that does get 'spun' through. When a solar system or galaxy begins to form there is a net rotation to the cloud it forms from, and, over time all other movement is damped out by collisions, but rotation, being a fundamental quantity, is maintained, so that giant sphere of gas ends up as a rotating disk. If we had 4 dimensions, then spin would be sonserved in all 4 dimensions and it would remain as a 4 dimensional 'sphere'.
      However, elliptical galaxies never become flat because there isn't enough gas and dust in them to damp out the random motions of the cloud, so, while they still have a net rotation, they also have all the left over superfluous motion that never gets canceled out and they stay as giant spheres (or ellipsoids)

    My spine tends to shrink a bit, sometimes reducing my height with two or something centimetres. I often need my brother to straighten it for me, so he essentially lifts me by holding me around my chest, lifts and then shakes me so that my spine straightens out with a series of popping sounds, similar to what happens when you pull at a bendy straw. It's the best feeling in the world!

      The continuous cracks you are hearing in your wrist are caused by the flicking of tendons over other tissue they are getting caught on, such as bones and ligaments (and potentially scar tissue). Hence why you can continuously crack these joints... Wrists, ankles, knees and hips are the most common spots this occurs.

    I have loose/double jointed joints in a few places like my shoulders, so I can put my hands as high as my shoulder blades (coming from the bottom, not top) plus I can arch my back to the point where I can see directly behind me, so I can crack any part of my back with ease.... Thank you. I've been cracking my knuckles since I was in kindergarten and over time I've become able to crack pretty much all of the joints in my body, from both joints in my big toe to the joints in my neck.
    Now, you're mentioning that your grip strength may decrease over time if you're cracking your joints in your hands - does that apply to the rest of your body as well? As in, do you weaken your back from cracking the joints in your spine? And/or are you making yourself more flexible in the process?

      Things like this are often caused by tendons flicking across bony structures, such as knuckles or other moving joints. My big toes do it all the time. Moving them back and forth just puts it back in it's original place, allowing it to click again when you repeat the action.
      Other, more grindy noises can suggest there are abrasions on some aspects of the joint surfaces, causing increased friction and noises to occur.

      Sorry, no - I'm lot more willing to donate on Subbable or pay some small monthly fee for content that I really like, than get bombarded with those hundreds of thousands of ads, that I've never seen in last few years since adblock.
      If content maker wants to make revenue - make donation form in your site or use one of the dontation services out there - me and thousands of others will gladly pay dollar a month or so for your videos. If you want to make world better place by offering free education - don't expect to receive money for it. It's so simple...

    I have several joints that can pop all the time. My left wrist can and does pop every time I move it in a certain way. If I twitch my wrist in that certain way it pops indefinitely. My neck pops a lot too, but that's different. I got in a car accident that did some damage to my neck, now it constantly builds up tension, and the only way to relieve it is to crack my neck. It typically pops approximately 20 times an hour.
