Its not so easy. First of all, its tough to get past the workers who run the foster care system. Many do not return phone calls or emails when you inquire about the kids. And some won't consider you as a potential parent unless you look a certain way or fit a certain WOKE profile. Ask me how I know. Adopting isn't easy, but they make it a whole lot more complicated than it should be. The kids walking across the Mexican border are given a much higher priority than the American ones in the foster care system.
Mostly because people shop for children they way they shop for a family pet....which you and I both know is wrong. I lived in foster care, I know how hard it is....

Very grateful that I am getting closer to my degree and can start foster care/adoption! I would love to take all of these kids in and give them the love and care they deserve!

There are so many children in care...and none have done anything wrong. They are merely victims of circumstance, and each and everyone of them deserves a happy, secure, and content life, home and family. We have adopted in addition to our birth children, and it's such a wonderful experience for all involved. Unfortunately it is quite expensive and there are a lot of hoops to jump through. It seems things could be better in this area, so we could help these children more easily.

Just haven't a house is only a very tiny fraction of the problems involved in fostering or adopting a child. The background checks, welfare checks, everything they do if only the system dug into the people's backgrounds and lives like this before they were allowed to have kids, maybe these kids wouldn't be in foster care. The problem is many foster families are worse than the families the kids were removed from to begin with, so the system gets to pick and choose without any sort of clue who this kids go with, yet people who'd love to take in kids potentially forever if needed can't because we aren't rich enough and don't fit the perfect person category the system thinks is needed.

But not everyone can adopt 2 kids together. I wish they could be adopted together too. But, unfortunately, not everyone can afford to take care 2 grown kids.

I know this is old but I’ve adopted four special-needs boys in my lifetime and while it was rewarding in the long run, I can tell you that adopting an older child is not for the faint of heart.
Sunday morning. This is quite heavy. But what a little mensch. He is going to do quite fine in life. Well spoken and thoughtful. But man, sorta breaks your heart.
I am a single man living in a house with my 2 dogs . I would love to adopt an older child . I have no idea what that entails , but I would take him in ... is it hard for single people to adopt a child ?
Not hard but you have to be willing to take various parenting classes pass some inspections (they make sure the child has their own room with a door and a bed and stuff and wait for a police check etc. takes time.
He deserves an amazing home that will give him the attention and love he deserves. If he doesn't get it he may not be successful in life. It seems to me like he either has a speech impediment or a learning disability. Not that it's a bad thing but he may require more attention and resources than most children.
I wish Levi all the love and care he deserves. I wish a great, caring and loving family has found him. All children deserves a happy family. ❤ God bless us all.
He's full of love. I can see him growing up to be a kind and lovable man. I would totally adopt him and find his sister and keep the communication between them if only I can. I hope he finds his forever home that's also full of love just like how he is.
My younger sister and I were removed from our parents at a young age due to abuse and neglect. We were temporarily in the same foster home for a year before she was adopted and I wasn't. I ended up in an orphanage and endured more abuse until I was 18 and then spit out of the state system with nothing. I somehow managed to put myself through undergraduate and graduate school and find employment. Years later I found my sister and she wanted no contact. I think her son is 14 now and he has no idea I even exist.

having a family doesnt mean you get treated how you want and you do a bunch of fun stuff all the time. idk why adopted kids think that, and if the system tells them that, they should stop cuz they raise these kids expectations and it doesnt help them adjust to being in a family when theyre finally adopted and its not the fairytale they thought it would be.

Call them up Katt! I live in AZ and I would be a mentor for him. I do that now with AASK. I would be happy to pick him up once a week and take him to go do stuff. Hiking, fly drones, go in a real small plane, go camping whatever.
It's sad he's gotten to 13 and not been able to settle. Yet he has plenty of love to give and get. He needs the security kids crave and require. I have a few friends who are in Foster Care. They serve a purpose but for most kids' they need a solid family who will give that security they need. They will in turn become stable and settled.

In my experince from foster care, as a single male, it is really hard to adopt or even foster. have to fight tooth and nail with family-services because of being single.. I did how ever get to help a teenager out of foster care, but they did not make it easy. I would do again, but they need to stop being judgemental of single males. We are not all the same!! I did my proof of background checks, etc.. passed class, got home approveal, all the paperwork, but Family-Services select who they want....But I will do FosterCare again, and Adopt again never less.
that's crazy. I'm also single but still in training for my license. I live 1 state over and no private agencies here want to do interstate adoption. Emailed the dfps lady but she didn't respond. I have some guesses for the reasons but wth they'd rather have the kids age out than get adopted by single parent.

Siblings should never be separated in the care system. Far too cruel and inhumane.

they need a solid family who will give that security they need. They will in turn become stable and settled.

In my experince from foster care, as a single male, it is really hard to adopt or even foster. have to fight tooth and nail with family-services because of being single.. I did how ever
get to help a teenager out of foster care, but they did not make it easy. I would do again, but they need to stop being judgemental of single males. We are not all the same!! I did my
proof of background checks, etc.. passed class, got home approveal, all the paperwork, but Family-Services select who they want....But I will do FosterCare again, and Adopt again never less.
that's crazy. I'm also single but still in training for my license. I live 1 state over and no private agencies here want to do interstate adoption. Emailed the dfps lady but she didn't respond. I have some guesses for the reasons but wth they'd rather have the kids age out than get adopted by single parent.
Sadest part is he has been split up from his sister.
Hoping his parents find him and give him the love he needs.
