Thank you for a wonderful lesson Sis Wilson. You know as I listen to these presentations, and really reflect on the words of Paul, I am amazed over and over again at his teachings. He is a perfect example to me of what it looks like to be changed and converted to the Lord. I know there are equally other beautiful examples in the scriptures too. I find it mind blowing that the person who is teaching and speaking the words of the Lord is so different to the person he was before. Everything has changed from tone, to mannerisms and desires. I find myself stepping back at times and being blown away that this is a completely different person. Not only do his words testify of the Saviour, his life is also the message, and evidence of the power of God. Your lessons are always inspiring Sis Wilson ♥️
Lynne, thank you so much for the beautiful way in which you presented your findings on women and the contradiction of those verses in 1 Corinthians 14. I feel so blessed to be a woman in the latter-days working in equal partnership with men to build God's kingdom!
What a beautiful study. Thanks for talking about the difference of what Paul meant when he was talking about the women in church. The way you explained it makes a lot more sense to me. I always wondered why Paul would attempt to stop women from speaking in church. God bless you sister!
Sister Wilson, your videos blow me away. You know so much and I love the graphics along with seeing you speak. My scriptures are all marked up when I listen and can understand so much more. Thank you!
Thank you again, Sister Wilson, for another great lesson. Very enlightening. I wonder whether the BYU New Rendition of the NT will ever be finished. I have the first five volumes, but I hope for many others.
Thank you, Lynne. I see the new volume of the BYU Commentary Series: Ephesians. I just ordered it. I hope I live long enough to read these books. Thanks again! ms
With regards to women being silent in the churches l wondered if it was something to do with the social customs at the time. A new form of religion was being established but it’s not a good idea to bring in too much change too quickly. Other important doctrines and practices had to be brought in first and when they were established changes in social customs could be addressed later. Just a thought 😊You do an excellent job with these lessons. Many thanks 🙏🏻
there was clearly some cultural issues, especially among jewish converts. but as i point out in the video, we have to take all the statements in context and see the 'whole.'
I have always wondered if Paul was concerned that the strong women of the church were making it possible for the men to slack off. I have seen it happening in congregations other than in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He may be reminding the sisters to support the priesthood, so that the brethren might grow. And to the brethren to step up and fulfill their responsibilities. We honestly don't know all that is going on in Corinth at that time.
Hi Sister Lynne! Thank you for sharing your wisdom, so that we may begin our journey to wisdom. Do you have a link of where I can find the recent/new byu book of greek translations?
go to the byu studies home page. you'll see that the second epistle to the corinthians is available for pre-order. Previously published books are there. thanks for asking. (lynne here)
Wow. Normally love your videos, but you went off the rails here. Half your video covering 2 verses that are one paragraph in the study manual, and your conclusion is that the prophets are wrong to include them? Wow. Stopped at 15 minutes and went to Taylor and Tyler. Wow.
Here I was thrilled to have a greater clarification and not have the verses glossed over. I appreciate Pres. Nelson's admonition to women to rise up and lead.
Consider that there is a reason to analyze and spend time on verses that have been the source of many questions. Even if you didn't need this detailed discussion of two particular verses, there are many others who did need and want it, and that is OK.
lynne here: are you referring to 1 Corinthians 14:34-35? I never intended to speak against living prophets nor NT apostles for that matter. What i was trying to say is that these verses were not original to the apostle Paul. These verses are troubling to many and I have spent 100s of hours of research on them. Certainly our modern prophets allow women to speak in church...and from the broader context in NT writings, they did, too!
Thank you for explaining the verses found in 1 Cor. 14:34-35. You have such a wealth of information that is much appreciated.

I like we are all God's children I could see taking umbrage with the way women are made to sound like children in 14 thru 35 Thank You Mar

That's not what she was saying ❤ Her view is accurate with the come follow me church lesson. Maybe listen again, I was confused at first too.
