Excellent to see folks teaching the young ones how to do this stuff. Gonna save them boatloads of cash over their life on top of having another skillset. Good job, young man. You too, old timer !
removing drive shaft was pretty easy and made it easier to take down the pan but I am glad you found a different way that worked for you. Thanks for watching.
Had a bit of a chuckle at the end when your son is up on the front of the truck to pour the transmission fluid in. That's why I got a little two step ladder to set by my truck when I have to get under the hood. LOL Great video.
Like the new channel! do you happen to remember the exact fluid amounts for the front axle, rear axle and transmission? I know the transfer case takes up 1.6qts
very nice video. I have to do all these on my 06 3.5l. i was just wondering if the transmission filter is necessary to change? and if so can i get it at any parts store? what was the cost on it??
About $30 for the filter. Buy 6 qts DEXRON VI Transmission Oil for another $60. Double check with the parts guy/gal. Might be able to get better mileage if you buy the correct Amsoil fluids.
hi , just a question , all fluid must be change first 50k miles , my h3 is 5 years old but still got 25k miles city driving , do you think I need to change fluid by now?
+John Cagaoan jr. i would. Not sure if it's applicable still but they used to say that lubricants lose their properties after some time. So yeah I would.
how much for this job ? I put wrong oil dexron 3 but i need dexron 6, I put only 2 quarts of wrong so the mix is bad. I drive the hummer only 3 days for 1 hrs. a day so I want a fix Thanks for help.
Mussie Tekie Just realized my reply did not registered from a few days ago. So here it is again. I don't have the H3 anymore but if you need just a general visual process of changing oil and filter I can do it on the Land Cruiser. Let me know if you want me to produce it. Jake.
hey man, i got a question. i have a hummer H3 en whenever a want press the accelerator it makes a horrible sound like Broom, do you know what should be the problem? somebody told me that the problem is the transmission, i changed the transmission, but still the same.
does that tranny have solenoids , i want to change my tranny filter on a 2006 h3 i just picked up but ive seen the shift solenoid on some of the filters not sure which 1 to get thanks
Thanks, I live in the deep south where not many people have this type, 4 at most here. I do trust their decision, but it's good to have an opinion by someone who actually has one.
I think it holds about 5-6 if you replace the filter, which you should do anytime the pan is off. Best way is to start with 1 gallon, 4 quarts, then keep topping it off till full.
No, don't remember what is the factory recommendation is I believe it to be 100 000 miles. I replaced mine because in the first 50 000 miles everything is getting broken in. Next one will be at 150 000.
Oh by the way , you left out the part about the " old seal " and either removing it ( if worn ) or leaving it in place and removing the new one !! Cost me 3rd & OD !! 2,600$ mistake !! It's a transmission killer !!
I have the 06 H3 5 cyl engine. I had to have the head replaced at 90K miles. Cost was $2200.00. Other people with this engine had valve probs at 60K. GM has done nothing about this issue except for notifing GM repair shops that the problem exists and they need to know what to expect. One would think GM would care enuf about their customers that a recall should be done on that engine. However, GM apparently doesn't care. I'll be buying a Jeep or something from Japan next time.
+Steven Satenstein yep. That's why I've sold the H3 and switched to 96 LC, with 190K on the clock it feels more solid then H3 was at 90K when I sold it.
Not sire what I can do to help. Try going on "hummerxclub-dot-com" forum page and describe the problem there. There are a lot of experts there that will be able to figure out your problem.
Hi, great video... I have a Hummer h3 2006 automatic. Just want to find out what transfer case fluid you used and how much, and can you also add what transmission fluid, and differential fluid you used...are they the same for an '06...Thanks
theguapo1975channel I've used whatever AMSOIL recommends for the transmission and transfer case since I used their fluids for the transfer case, transmission and differentials. Holding capacities are listed in the manual, I've sold my H3 so can't look it up. The year of the truck shouldn't make a difference.

Big Help,....Thanks.
10 years later still helping people,....one of the positives of the internet.
removing drive shaft was pretty easy and made it easier to take down the pan but I am glad you found a different way that worked for you. Thanks for watching.
What type of fluid we need for the transfer case and axels. Was the fluid your used.
How many quarts of transmission fluid did you refill it with? Any answer would be much appreciated

Awesome informative video. Please have the kid use goggles when he is under de car. Just an observation. Thank you for the video.
Thank you for the video! What kind of fluids did you use for transmission, T-case and differentials? Thank you!

Wow, thanks for making this video! I need to change fluid of my axles, they're way over due. I already did the transmission and transfer case.

How much gear oil for each axle and what weight oil? thanks
Oil weight is SAS 80W90. Capasity: front 3qt. Rear 3.5qt.
So this should be done every 50,000 miles?
Tanx man good job and good info
+hussein maleh Glad your found it useful.
Is it the same way for the manual transmission?
Thank you ..great info
jake please could you do for Hummer H3 proper way Engine oil filter replacement please??
Mussie Tekie Just realized my reply did not registered from a few days ago. So here it is again. I don't have the H3 anymore but if you need just a general visual process of changing oil and filter I can do it on the Land Cruiser. Let me know if you want me to produce it. Jake.
Inspirating video, like asimply job.
do you need to flush the transmission.
hey man, i got a question. i have a hummer H3 en whenever a want press the accelerator it makes a horrible sound like Broom, do you know what should be the problem? somebody told me that the problem is the transmission, i changed the transmission, but still the same.
Check the front axle cross member. There is a bolt in the center that gets worn out. Hope it helps.
Good Job.
is the a.c of hummer h3 is good
2007 h3 hummer I think I located it by the support beam . I removed the skid plate and found the motor oil filter.
does that tranny have solenoids , i want to change my tranny filter on a 2006 h3 i just picked up but ive seen the shift solenoid on some of the filters not sure which 1 to get thanks
You don't mention any thing about a new washer for the drain plug or fill plug on the diffs
Don't they need a new washer ??
BakerOne There are no washers on the Diffs.
Does it need fluid if your 'service4wheel' light comes on
Colin Sunday - as far as I know it's the 4X4 actuators that needs to be replaced
If you haven't done it I would just to be safe change them all the differentials, transfer case ,transmission fluid with filter
Thanks for the vid. Any recommendation for what type of of oil would be best for a 2008 H3 (automatic) or just whatever the mechanic says at the time.
WillMarcC I went with whatever Amsoil recommends but your mechanic will most likely use whatever GM recommends which is fine in my book.
Thanks, I live in the deep south where not many people have this type, 4 at most here. I do trust their decision, but it's good to have an opinion by someone who actually has one.
is tghe 2009 hummer h3x any different?
Michael Maiello Should be the same.
how many quarts of transmission fluid was needed to refill the transmission?

Everything seemed easy and thought I could do it till the I see the drive shaft has to be removed. I still think this is a job for the garage tech.

most amazing thing in this video is that a gm h3 made it 50 k.. way to go little buddie. now it will fall apart.
maybe whisper louder
