Kenny, the only poor man late model teams are running your local track on Friday or Saturday night & they used to use either a tag along or small enclosed trailer being pulled by a pickup. But now even at your local dirt or asphalt tracks, teams are starting to show up with haulers that cost more than their houses! NO such thing as cheap late model racing anymore not when a set of tires cost more than the average local driver makes working a full week at his day job. That's why NASCAR is trying to cut costs, it's almost impossible for a Cup team to show a profit for the season even with 15 to 20 million in sponsorship $ & race winnings for the year.
Those are the only races I go see.
Back in the day here in Vegas in the 80's everyone only had a trailer with a tire rack on the front of it at the old Craig Road speedway here. Fast forward to late 90's/early 2000's when i worked at LVMS, all the A cars had pretty nice feather lights and all that, still a lot of that going on now, but there are a few that have some high dollar haulers like your talking about and these are all local guys that rarely go race anywhere else.
I have a neighbor a few doors down from me that does that big time drifting thing, huge nice hauler, all wrapped, looks good, big bucks. He likes to fire it up and hot lap the block in that Targa Vette bodied drifter apparently doing some test and tune just about every Friday night to be ready for Saturday events most of the time. Looks like a duel turbo setup, shakes the house down, probably running way over 1000 hp the way it sounds. I don't mind it so much, sounds great, but it sure pisses the old lady and the other neighbors off. lol
Never talked to the guy, but i have on a few occasions been going to the corner store around the corner in my 98 Mustang GT that has a coyote motor in it, stopped, did a burn out to let him now he isn't the only one that can make some noise, and now it's a thing. If i am rolling by him going someplace and he is in the garage with the door open, he stops what he is doing and waits for me to light em up, gives me a thumbs up, and we both laugh our asses off.
Needless to say, the neighborhood hates the both of us! lol 😄

Have to correct you Herman. Million dollar haulers been around for years. C.S. Fitzgerald 1996 Octoberfest races at Hagerstown speedway. Rodney Franklin. Nathan durbarough. Donnie Moran. Scott bloomquist. Mark Richards. Been around 25 years
SLM became like nascar back in the late 2000s when I had to buy $800 a piece shocks instead of the 100-150 afcos. Then came the bump stops, hold down setups, twisted noses and open rear roof panels along with that, became the aero game then.

Saw Ricky run a Black Diamond car at the 2016 Wild West Shootout and was impressed.
Since the late 90’s I’ve looked at the haulers and the equipment in the pits at Eldora and said this isn’t a poor man’s sport.

I remember him running in Iowa for two entire summers. He told me as an announcer, that he came to Iowa to get really good on dirt! He was young..... Pretty awesome

Kenny its just mind blowing that a guy dominates races wins a chamionship and still is the baddest MOFO on dirt kickin ass every night gets fired from his ride. BShepp put Ricky in the 5s monday night in Lincoln his first time to get in the car and went from 20th to 7th RTJ is a badass I've always been a Bloomquist fan and anyone from Central Ill. I hope Shepp can continue to give Ricky a seat that'll be a badass team for sure. Frickin greed car owners Ricky was going above and beyond what he was probably making and I guarantee Hud will never do anything in that ride he just can't run with the bigdogs.👍🏁🇺🇸🏁🙏

Hey Herm.... I know this is not relevant to this video....but I wonder if we could find a sponsor that would finance a challenge of the top 10 comment haters of Hailie on a track. Them against her... Think it would shut up alot of the noise. I say this because years ago there was an indoor Kart facility sponsored by MoMo in St. Pete. I went there one day with some buddies and lo and behold Danica was there training. She WHOOPED everyone there by seconds! Was a sight to behold. One guy got his feeling hurt and made an absolute ass of himself. Cussin' and screaming she was cheating...lol Was crazy.... got'm banned and rightfully so. Would love to see this play out again and think it would draw a LOT of eyeballs!
There’s probably truth there. I saw Shawna Robinson roll turns 3 & 4 at thunder road years ago. They ‘fixed’ it a few years back but NOBODY rolled turns 3 back then because you would wind up airborne and crash over the bank.
But she did it almost every lap and gained a car length or more. Which is a whole lot on a 1/4 mile oval.
Ken Schrader was pretty quick there, too, did unusual things in unusual places.

As a fan, my understanding of racing is that the most important thing is winning. I pay money to see a competition. If a team owner tells me the guy who is the best driver in the world at his specific type of racing isn't good enough to keep his ride after winning a crapload of races, what that team owner is telling me is that the competition on the track doesn't matter. If Todd Burns doesn't want me to think the competitions his car is in are relevant, it is very, very easy for me to just watch something else. Related: Thank you Todd Burns, you've freed up some time for me moving forwards to do something else.
Anyone who thought Dirt Late Model racing has ever been cheap has had blinders on. It's always cost everything you had and then some.

Kenny "I am only speaking for my self" in one respect I agree there is more money out there prize money to start money and the T shirt sales are a a whole new level and that's a good thing im glad there is more money in it however its not enough for a whole field of gypsys to chase but there are several that are trying to formulate a plan to "Harvest" such to a hi degree. My draw to Dirt Track goes back to my child hood and living less that a mile from Raceway 7 in Northeast Ohio over time I got away from it and evolved into following other forms of racing but over time the other forms (NASCAR) evolved into something very different than when I initially had interest and has evolved into a form of racing (in my opinion) similar to what used to be the IROC series (everything the same, cars components, airguns in the pits) they have the rules and requirements so bolted down there is no room for innovation its everyone the same so it seams. Some folks call it "Cheating" when they think of things that give them a leg up on the competition I would rather refer to it as Inovation NASCAR has very little room for that today,, and you are correct enough money got in the sport and it needed controlled some how to prevent the creation of Super Monster Teams. To wrap it up I hope we are not headed in the same path with DT as NASCAR has went but just 10-15 years behind ? Just my 2 cents I never respond much and never have written such a big post.. Lets all stay safe and enjoy the summer racing and summer no matter what racing you all may follow,, and God be with John Force...

how many drivers own their car or family backed in super late models? I know sponsors play a big part,but how many drivers finance with out pocket money? To stay competitive, you need to have deep pockets and the newest equipment plus travel to hit the big races.One day super late models will price themselves where nobody can afford to run or have to raise the gate price more. Is this becoming NASCAR?

As the song goes it's all about the money especially when you're on top of your game you're going to get big sponsors and the cost is so high racing fuel 🤑 being on the road for months 🤑 parts and motors🤑 fuel for truck 4 dollars a gallon etc.
Try $17 a gallon for racing fuel which I know the big boys get it at a discount and the locals have to pay for difference

well its an accomplishment for a channel it really is, but yea huddy oneal, one of the few really good late model drivers from indiana that was a shock as much as ricky thorton parting ways, sometimes you get those kind of years and silly season its like stuff just dont make sense, but yea they all start out as a good driver with little money, but the thing is big hauler or not most the tracks they come to are "local tracks" and many times the local or regional heros will be right there along the big dawgs, I mean really I could not belive how plain kyle larsons sprint car is you would expect a flashy paint job and signs, but naw his white number 57 looks kind of non discript, like just one of the many regional competitors, as well as the traveling series guys and girls, on dirt though the power distance is not as far as say indy car or if kyle or chase brisco in nascar when they are at the little mean bull ring like kokomo or the legendary bloomington, or the slightly larger burg with its highly banked though lowered banking on the 3/8s you get a pit pass and your right up there talking to the driver 3 feet away vs dont cross that line in nas or indycar pit pass or not.
heck a few times I even held stuff or help pushed up cars with promission last year at the hoosier hundred in silver crown, or at kokomo this year someone needed a hand pushing their sprint car forward a little and I said need a hand and jumped in to help, and I am just a cat that likes to get a pit pass so I can get autographs and talk with favorite drivers and at the bigger tracks watch from the middle of the track where the pits are like winchester irp or eldora, really though I like to ask drivers and crew about things and get answers from the horses mouth that way I know, I know many like the silver crowns and many are not as up on it and its linnage going back to the dirt champ cars and large fairground track openwheel roadsters 100 years ago but the are for intents and purpose the leftovers of the front engine indy cars, and the very best winningest all time kody swanson is so kind and down to earth hes like someones neighbor down the street you might not see all the time but you see them several times a year and will chat with people, maybe not as much as kenny or tmez in the talkitive department but down to earth and loves the silver crowns and just the whole history the legendary drivers the iconic tracks you will not find a bigger cheerleader for the series, and seems to me every win means soo much to him if you watch his interviews at a race

It is all about money I tried for years to run on a factory workers pay check it ant happening trust me. 3.5 million in equipment and 500,000 plus yearly to maintain your equipment .
