You two were my life raft. My daughter adopted a trans identity during Covid, somewhere in 2020-2021. A 7th grader. I found wider lens right then, thankfully! I listened to every episode already recorded, then each subsequent episode in real time. Through wider lens a found my way into parent support groups and fashioned my approach, and stabilized my sanity. Cut to my daughter desisting at the beginning of her sophomore year in 2024. She’s been back to herself for about 6 mo the now. Wow. I feel like I am synched up with wider lens at this change in direction too! I think the timing of your evolution is perfect both for the young people Sasha will focus on and the Macro societal level topics that Stella will focus on. By the way, my kid was born in Ireland - her father is Irish, but primarily raised in the states. You two were literally a raft the 3 of us fit on as we made it safely to the other side. I’ll see you on Substack. And …
    THANK YOU ❤🙏❤

You guys have been so pivotal to making information that used to be hidden accessible. You've informed so many and given so many a platform to share their stories. It does feel appropriate that you've outgrown the conversation. I noticed that a lot of the stories became more of the same outside of the legal updates. The blessing is that people who are just looking into this now have 4 years of detailed information in your archives that they can take advantage of. It's also wonderful that you'll both get to take your work and knowledge into new spaces and help us all grow into those. Thank you for the work you've done and the work you've yet to do ❤

I'm super interested in the direction Stella is going in. Something crazy IS going on. Long before I ever heard of Colin Wright I heard people on the left saying the same thing but everything moving in the direction of the right. If you spend time on left and right sites people are saying the exact same things but each side thinks its the other side doing the things or encompassing the bad values.

Can you think of anything that the Right is saying that is as crazy as 'some men are women', 'sex is not binary', 'gender identity trumps sex even though the former is unprovable but the latter is established fact' and 'men who call themselves women are more vulnerable than actual women'?

So excited for the Gender Exploration Group. As a detransitioner, I think we need to do better with our tomboys. I wish we older lesbians could do more to mentor the kids. We all had similar feelings, after all- lots of us were "tomboys". But we knew that didn't make us NOT female. In fact, if someone called us a man or a boy or an "It", it was deeply insulting. Being a lesbian required embracing your female sex however you might dress or behave- and it was empowering and strong. I worry so much about these kids and the frankly homophobic messages they are getting.

@annetteniebelski7513 Give her copies of some books about lesbians. Some classics: Rubyfruit Jungle by Rita Mae Brown; Annie On My Mind by Nancy Garden; Patience and Sarah by Isabel Miller; any number of pulp titles by Ann Bannon; Benediction by Diane Salvatore. If you have rapport with her and can converse directly with her, let her know that it's perfectly good to be just-lesbian, that gender-non-conforming does not make her not-a-woman! Raise the possibility that the people pressuring her to transition are wrong/lying. Remind her that she herself is best equipped to know who and what kind of woman she is.

I think I’d end up following Stella where she goes as I agree that gender is the canary in the coal mine of a much bigger shift in our society that needs to be addressed and examined. So glad for you both that you’ve come to terms with the differences in your desires for your shows, and taking them in a direction that reflects that. Remember, if you find that this is a mistake, you’re always welcome to re-form in this space and we will all be here!

I agree. As a mom of a 14 year old girl, I am super interested in this seeming shift to toward a culture of victimhood. I do see it in trans activism - where people are fighting for society to bend to their needs while not having any strength of belief in themselves and their agency - but it's everywhere. How did this happen, and why?

    • @goodgrief888
      @goodgrief888 День назад +2

@ It’s fascinating to try to pinpoint the origin of this huge cultural shift. Some people say that when many of the things people fought for were resolved (first black president, gay marriage, etc) these activist organizations needed to justify their existence, so ginned up the concept of “microaggressions,” and pushed gender ideology. But I think it’s bigger than that and has come in waves. I can’t wait to see what Stella has discovered and will share with us about it! I think what Sasha is planning to focus on is so important and needed too.

    • @DorianPaige00
      @DorianPaige00 День назад

@@goodgrief888 And you think the Trump cultural shift is going to hold? That's not going to hold and is unsustainable. Social media has brought fringe ideas both left and right to the norm. Once primaries are decided by about 6% of the population, you can pick which extreme argument you want to move forward. Whichever you choose is a mandate beyond debate! You've chosen and it will affect tons of issues and wealth. You F'd around and know we all can find out.

    • @John-tr5hn

I think Stella and lot of other people are deluding themselves if they truly believe that society has taken a left turn. Even the most left-wing progressives in the US would be considered moderate leftists in Europe. What we consider the solid left in the US would be center-right in most of the EU. Yes, left-wing progressives in the US make a lot of noise and have a great deal of social-media and university capture, but they have very little actual political power, as the most recent election showed us. As a whole, American society is lurching to the right and has been since the 1980s.

I don’t know when having an “identity” of any kind became so important or talked about. I must’ve been checked out of mainstream culture during that. I remember hearing people talk about how you have to “find yourself” when I was young, but that was more, as I understood it, about finding your path, or discovering what you really thought apart or separate from your parents and teachers. Even when I use identifying words for different groups that I would categorize myself into I don’t understand those as my “identity”.

Thanks for all your great shows! Regarding what Stella is saying, it seems to me that the fundamental concept that has shifted is the loss of the idea that there is absolute truth in the world. This, of course, started in a big way a couple centuries ago and now is pervasive. Once people are open to the idea that there is only relative truth, every thing that once anchored humans became open to re-interpretation.
There are, of course, both good and bad things that have arisen from this fundamental change in world view humans have experienced.

Ok. I know what i would want you to have a live discussion about. Honestly, i think that this particular discussion should be not just discussed, but recorded and accessible to all, and able to be brought back up and listened to again, shared, sent to loved ones going through this. It is the reason i have listened to almost every episode you have made, over the last 2 years of my life, missing maybe a few in year three. TLDR: I would LOVE one place to go to hear data, see links to studies, and hear talking points on how to have open discussions that educate loved ones about the harms of this ideology. I know that every episdoe has essentially been an aspect of this- but what id love to see is a broad overview of the most important points, the most important studies to share to combat the most common ideological talking points, and "frequently yelled accusations" response suggestions.
My goal with educating myself on the gender topic has everything to do with needing to be 1000% prepared and informed, so i can have this discussion online, with loved ones, with haters, with my fb friends, with ANYONE. One of my gifts in life is being able to synthesize data, large amounts of it, distill it, and package it so that it is digestable for anyone. Im good at it. This particular conversation, gender and queer theory ideologicy, its harms on the world/youth, and the devastation of medicalizing children, is a subject that shockingly few people truly understand. I personally live in an incredibly progressive, left leaning community. A city of artists and "freethinkers", or so i thought. But after 2020, i began waking up to the realization that they are not in fact free thinkers, and they are actually propaganda regurgitators. The truth is, most people want the same thing: for every one to be loved, supported, and accepted. They just have this devastating and divisive idea that the "other side" doesnt care. It is SO IMPORTANT to me to not stay quiet about this issue, within my community, but i am also completely and totally surrounded by people who call themselves allies, but actually have no idea about the reality of what they are supporting. So my goal in listening to every podcast, ever pertinent channel, every hour I'm able, is to build a case. I have a notebook, and when i hear a fact, when i hear a study mentioned, when i hear irrefutable evidence that must be included in my case- i write it down in a notebook that i keep next to me while i work. I have done this for 2 years. I feel like i have a really broad and complete understanding, at this point, and can have this discussion with just about anyone. But my next step is to take this notebook, and fact check every point i have written in it. Find the studies i noted (with episode details if i need to look back), and have an actual link to the results, so i can be prepared to have online discussions with potentially unhinged people. My goal is simple: to come at this with absolute love, and compassion that is firmly placed in my ethics and value system. To educate and build a bridge. To be so eloquent that the people who are even just a litte bit open can hear my words. And of course, to be so prepared that i have a logical measured answer to every attack. I have already brought up several of these subjects in a public forum, but i have yet to start the "big discussion". I have discussed the effects puberty blockers and cross sex hormones on minors bodies several times, as well as the selfish harm of feeding newborns with drug-laced endocrine disrupting lactated fluid from bio males. These discussions both started rocky, but i stayed in the ring and actually made a lot of headway with people. I had a woman privately write me who was in the midst of medicalizing her stepchild, who hadnt previously seen the data i had shared. It turns out this woman was the step mother of a dear friends daugter, who was at a loss for how to get thru to the stepmother of her daughter, to stop the medicalization that was being instigated in her daughters life. I had another woman write me privately who is actually a health practitioner who prescribes these medications to minors, who really heard what i said and thanked me for helping her understand. (Note: that was NOT her first response, but i stayed in the ring and stayed loving and firm, and supplied her with all kinds of information- FOR DAYS.)
The truth is, the world needs us to speak up- BADLY. But if we arent doing it well, we could do more harm than good, drive the division further apart. Obvioisly there will be the "eternally offended" who will be mad and throw a tantrum and try to atrack us no matter what. But how do we respond? Are we prepared to hold our ground? This is so important. Because most of the people in our lives aren't the eternally offended. Most people are just woefully uninformed, loving, compassionate people, who can see sense if it if presented in a logical, well-metered, well-worded loving way. So this is why i have made this topic my everything. To prepare myself.
But as i began (2 years ago), i began to realize exactly what i needed to do, and how long it would take. I knew how adept i would need to be, and couldnt find a single place where i could find what i was looking for. What i was looking for was everything i have written in my notebook, all in one place. What we all need right now is ammunition. A way to fight back. A way to have these discussions with confidence and love. And i have LOVED the indepth interviews and discussions about all the very specific topics that pertain to each facet of this subject. But what i dont see enough of is a concentrated place with a broad overview, a one-stop shop of how to discuss this topic publcly, and all of the data needed to do so... all in one place. How to reach out to a sister, a cousin, an aunt, our kids mom, a teacher- anyone who we desperately need to reach, without pushing them away.
So... if theres any way yall could do a deep dive into this discussion... i think the world despaerately needs it. We have the desire.. but we dont always have the facts, studies, talking points, etc. And when we do go in to have these discussions- we need everything we can get. We need armor. We need weapons (of truth and love). And we need to succeed. This is what will change the world. One conversation at a time. So we need to be prepared to have these conversations, which will give us the courage to have them 💜

Stella explained our family situation perfectly around the 26:00 mark. My daughter turned 18 in November and has her first gender clinic appointment the day after Christmas. So now what? I pray that there is a heavy snowstorm that day and she can’t go, but it won’t snow forever. Is there a right time/way to give up the fight for the sake of the relationship?

A lot of these kids haven’t met a gay or lesbian person who’s living their best life I feel. Instead trans is the new thing. Also too when I was a kid we hid the fact we were gay we didn’t get celebrated for it like trans people do now. It’s worrisome

I have enjoyed this podcast since I found it when I could not find a reasonable perspective on gender. It helped keep me sane as I found myself being pushed to gender critical with self ID. But also not liking hardlined pronouns/gendering/dress code etc.

At first, I was alarmed to hear the end of an era, but I’m so excited that Sasha is thinking of getting back to her roots of helping gender confused kids and their parents, rather than hopping on the trend of commercializing gender and making it into a commodity. It’s wonderful to know something for these kids will be available on line and providers can actually refer patients to a trusted source rather than an unknown therapist. I totally agree with Stella’s approach too. The world needs to hear how we have all been brainwashed into divisiveness and forced to follow bizarre ideas of queer theory, DEI, transing little kids.

I couldn't be more excited for both of you ladies. Stella's direction is so important for "the rest of us" who know that the battle over gender is not winnable for either side, and that we of critical mind realize that we will have to make peace with some level of acceptance of the inevitable aspects of societal change, like it or not. Sasha's future of exploring gender issues with willing participants can help untold numbers of families navigate change with nuance, especially in doing so within a public forum. Both of you are utilizing your training, intellect and instincts in a way that is both scientific and feminine. You also give a non member of your substack a powerful reason to suscribe. Brava!

My hobby is personality typology and typing people. I suspect Stella is an INFP and Sasha is an ENFJ. The way you describe your differences; Sasha doing convergent thinking, Stella doing divergent thinking; Sasha preferring planning and structure, Stella less so; Sasha focussed on helping individuals, Stella on big picture. Have either of you ever done a self assessment like MBTI or cognitive function? I’d be interested to know if I’m accurate in my hunch.

I'm on the far left and I'm totally opposed to gender ideology and irritated with post-modernism in general (which is responsible for this bs). I agree queer theory activists are extreme, but that doesn't mean it's left-wing extremism! So frustrating. And also, don't push away people on the left who are gender-critical by this mischaracterisation. We really need a broad movement

One thing I would really like on this whole issue is a video which covers the whole of the problematic aspects of transgender ideology in a positive and respectful way which would be suitable for some of us to post on social media without offending friends of ours who are trans or who have trans children. So many of your videos cover just one aspect, but I have never yet come across one single video which would be appropriate for highlighting difficulties without offending anyone. We all know how easy it is to offend people, but you always speak so respectfully that I feel a summary video of this kind would be something you could easily make.
Because I have many trans friends and relatives, I am one of the people who secretly believe that you are absolutely right but who dares not say so openly. I would love to be able to change that.

Have you thought of referring your friends and family to THIS channel? 🌿
Also, it is impossible to live a life forever walking on eggshells around certain people, especially when they are numerous.
First of all, it is not healthy for you.
And …it is NOT supportive of them either.
Nor is it normal to go through life to never have been FEELING offended.
      We make choices in life.
And many of them are what we choose to FEEL 🙏
