CastaNet Fishing & Kayak Adventures I am in Washington State USA. I haven’t been out this year as well. Hunting and Fishing have been closed. But they just lifted it and I am hoping to get on the water soon. Where are you?
CastaNet Fishing & Kayak Adventures Oh no worries. I believe that passing the information along is the most important. You have really good camera angles and you explain the process very well. well done. I like your video very much.
Slim De 919 I meant to ask what year model your Pilot 12. Mine is 2019. I had an issue recently with my pedal drive but thankfully it is under warranty and Preception gave me new drive immediately. You can see in my last video on my channel that my pedal drive broke...
Slim De 919 yes mate it is stainless steel 1.5mm Catalogue Code 100.305.015 . 1.5mm 7x19 A4-AISI 316 Stainless Steel Cable MBL 130 kgs I think in the description box I have listed it but you need to find something similar in US I bought it in UK. Working a treat 👍👍👍
I did the same thing to my Pilot 12 and works much better, If you find out how to make the rudder deployment better let us know, I pulled so hard on mine that the knot came undone.
Here's a trick that I found during an epiphany I had on the water that completely solves the issue: Before deploying the rudder, point the rudder so that it is exactly parallel with the rudder lines (IIRC, this means steering knob is turned around 45 degrees to the left). This reduces the amount of force required to deploy the rudder by like *half* (or more).
Nytron but the rudder sit inside a little grove inside the kayak plastic when it is vertical and straight . So you are saying to force the rudder stirrer knob about 45 degrees to the right (when I’m sitting facing front of course), that will bring the rudder to be parallel with its deploying rope and then to deploy it? I’ll give it a shot. I hope I understood you correctly.
@@SpicyAngler That little groove is very shallow with rounded contours, the rudder will easily pop out of it. So yes, sounds like you understand it correctly. Give it a shot, it will be a huge "omg, I can't believe I didn't think of this before" moment. It was for me. Other tips to make it even easier:The last thing I do just before boarding my kayak is to point the rudder manually by turning the rudder itself with my hands so that it is parallel with the rudder lines as described previously. You can also preemptively lift the rudder, pointing in straight up in towards the sky which makes deploying it even easier, and then never fully stow during the outing. TL:DR: Just remember, any time stowing or deploying the rudder, the rudder should be parallel with the rudder lines.
Nytron yes thanks for this. It is a very shallow groove of course it will pop out easily. Also before launching when we take the little rubber stopper from on top of the rudder (the rudder lock I mean) we can already set it up into the right angle.
I have a mate who have replace and added a blade to enlarge the radder. Do you also on same kayak as mine? Btw I have changed the steerer handle to a higher one using a 3D printer and as u seen in the video the stainless steel cable. It is much much better. However I’m thinking to upgrade the rudder size as well
Excellent video:) I love this DIY mod.
Can you believe didn’t even test it since the COVID lockdown. Where are u base?
Btw you know I took it from you yes....

It is an issue I know. What strange I don’t find it so difficult on land than deploying it on water. Maybe because of the sitting position

Nice job! Besides steering hard, I find almost no turning ability at lower speeds. Has anyone change the size of the rudder blade?
