#Soundtrack #Music #JohnWilliams #LondonSymphonyOrchestra
The adventure continues in this "Star Wars" sequel. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) face attack by the Imperial forces and its AT-AT walkers on the ice planet Hoth. While Han and Leia escape in the Millennium Falcon, Luke travels to Dagobah in search of Yoda. Only with the Jedi master's help will Luke survive when the dark side of the Force beckons him into the ultimate duel with Darth Vader (David Prowse).
Release date: May 21, 1980 (USA)
" I don't believe it!!"
"That is why you fail."
2:40 - 3:20 is the magic of Star Wars.
Oakwood Pulaski absolutely.
If you're a first time viewer and start with the original trilogy, it's the first time you really see the real power of the force by a Jedi master. With this as the theme it just adds to that magical moment. Probably my favourite scene in Star Wars
For me the magic already begins at 2:07.
TrotelHD Agreed!
And its now flushed down the toilet.
oakwood pulaski wrong the music starts at 1:15 like from ROTJ.
If I had to explain the core of why I love Star Wars, I think it’s literally 2:20-3:30; when Yoda lifts Luke’s X-Wing from the swamp. Something about it has just stuck with me ever since I was a kid. That if we’d only believe in ourselves, we could do anything. To me, THAT is the great spirit of adventure that Star Wars is and will always be.
Now if someone could explain that to the nerfherders who run Star Wars now...
This comment gave me chills after going back for the nostalgia
@@ninjabearpress2574 Thats insulting to us nerfherders.
@@Bennahr_Fett Respect to the Nerf herders!
Luke:”I ..I don’t believe it”. Yoda replies, “That is why you fail.” The best scene from the best film in the Star Wars Canon.
i think this is the most underrated pieces of music in the whole star wars saga. gives me chills everytime. john williams is just a God.
Agreed
underrrated? im not sure but i thinks that's an actual popular opinion, but i completely agree with the rest
My favorite music from the whole movie.
I don’t think it’s underrated at all. It’s the soundtrack for, in my opinion, the best scene in the entire series.
@@airwalkerog9088 Indeed.
"...Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the ship."
Midichlorians.
"For my ally is the force and a powerful ally it is"
Judge me by my size do you?
Finally someone, who also knows more than just to hate on midichlorians.
+Jacob Wetherall
And now it's just even stupider don't you think?
3:01 gives me the chills EVERYTIME!!!
Ten seconds earlier for me. That bit reminds me of TFA trailer.
@@darthmong7196 The scene of the X-Wing...
@@SebastianRodriguez-hb1xu The bit just before Han says "Chewie... We're home." 2nd trailer I think.
3:41 Apology accepted, Captain Needa.
I got chills at 2:35 . Jeez that scene was powerful.
Same
Doppelmore3 Make that three.
Dammit you stole my comment!
THE BEST SCENE
Samee
They just don't make them like this anymore.
I wish "they" did, though.
"Because what he looking for? Adventure, heh, Excitement, heh, A Jedi craves not these things! You are reckless"
So true
Well said
3:30 "That, is why you fail" **Head dips down in disappointment** XD
3:00 is the exact point in a musical score that makes you feel like you can fly. The part in any amazing musical uprise and climax that will give you the power to do anything. I’ve been hearing this song since I was born, and that uproar of the orchestra is what has stuck with me throughout it. It is such a moving piece and that is the defining sound of Star Wars. The chant of the brass, the fleeting tones of the strings, it’s what takes us to another galaxy far, far away. Thank you John Williams for making such a masterpiece so much more.
"For my ally is the force, and a *Powerful* ally it is.."
The way the music builds and builds until the end is...for lack of a better word, sublime.
The best and most underrated scene in the whole saga
Is it underrated? Feel like everyone rates this as the one of the best scenes in the entire franchise and the soul of star wars.
Personally my favorite part comes at around 0:55 not only cause the music is just so beautiful, but because of Yoda's wise words in the movie.
This is why people say this is the best one out of the original trilogy. It has a great soundtrack and it’s truly the magic of Star Wars with George Lucas and John Williams
The Empire Strikes Back is by far the best SW movie hands down. The character development. The pacing. The story. But for me....the MAIN reason why this movie will be at the top of my all time favorite movies list.....is because the score is better than anything that has ever been made for a movie.....PERIOD
The way that the Force is portrayed in the OT is unmatched. We’re exposed to so much of the presence of the dark side with Vader, The Emperor, and The Empire as a whole. Even Obi-wan is using it to control minds. Then we see Yoda, and it’s presented not like a power, but a guide or philosophy. In general, OT Yoda is way better than any other iteration.
Spot on sir!
Luke: I don't believe it...
Yoda: That. Is why you fail.
That...is why you fail
The greatest teacher, failure is
MC W this should have been in the last Jedi and Luke lifting the x-wing out the ocean showing he now is the master
Why do we fall?

"Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter."
To me the most important quote from Star Wars and the most important lesson to learn for all of us!
You guys remember that time John Williams invented the literal sound of magic?
This brings a tear to my eye every time.
It's one of the only tunes that makes me feel emotional.
2:53 especially this.
Yoda (My ally is the force. And a powerful ally, it is.)
3:00 Miss you grandpa! I know your amongst the stars watching over me ⭐️ 4/24/2022
I've always loved this theme and this scene is so magical.
Holy cow. The build up and the resolution chord at 3:00 is absolutely incredible and magical and it makes me want to scream my head off about how wonderful it is every time I hear it. So much emotion in this song.. I love Star Wars so, so much.
I love everything but especially at 3:00 I feel inside STAR WARS, I feel one with the force.
I love all Star Wars movies is the best Galaxy far far away
This is easily my favourite song in the entire saga. I really like the battle of Mustafar, but this just takes the cake.
The difference between the master and the learner? The master has failed more times than the student has even tried.
3:00 it gives me chills every time
What is there not to love and adore about this song? Force Theme, Yoda's Theme, very calming relaxing classical music being played, and with a big crescendo in the song as well.
one of the most perfect pieces of music ever created
I was in an EotE campaign playing as a gungan Force-sensitive. I asked the DM to play Yoda's section of this track while I narrated the part where my character finally made his lightsaber. It was so goddamn satisfying.
This is my favorite piece in the entire Star Wars saga, with the Force Theme as a close second.
The theme, and the scene it applies to, basically sums up the Force mantra that you can use in your own life.
it doesn't matter where you come from: believe, be good and optimistic, and the impossible will becomes true.
I know this is cheesy as hell, but in times like these I can gratefully get some cheese to keep me going.
2:53 this part is so magical
I can only IMAGINE how it was to experience hearing it for the first time at the Movies 😫😫😫
Thank you Irvin Kershiner for making my child hood Empire strikes back belongs to you you Directed it Amen.
Another excellent track and a memorable scene in the movie.
2:12~3:39 I know that plenty others have already commented on similar time-ranges, but this one moment [especially after rewatching it upon "completing" all three Star Wars movie trilogies] is what truly sold me on Star Wars back then. It still does now.
The very idea that *_belief_* is what allows one to be aided by the Force. Yoda freed Luke's X-Wing from sinking in the swamp _effortlessly_ because of it.
At 2:33 up to 3:11, the same musical sequence was used when Luke Skywalker, now a Force ghost, finally lifts his X-Wing out of the water for Rey in Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise Of Skywalker.
It truly was a wonderful scene!
2:07 memories from lego star wars the complete saga
This scene in the film was so great, and the music so impactful, that even my mother, who is now in her 80s and was never a particular Star Wars fan, told me she loved this scene.
John Williams turned magic into sound
15 people have failed.

Agreed.
Nothing less
That part. We all know what part. Makes me cry every time I listen. Why? Because it reminds me of my childhood
Do or do not, there is no try.....
Matthew Brant how can I do something if I don't try?
Ezra....
Well, that one always got me too, but Master Yoda sure said it a lot.
he's not speaking of the action, but of the result you either did it or you didn't
@@w7100 No, he's not speaking of the action. He's referring to the intention.
1:19 one of the best versions of the Force theme
Mysticism works so well in SF, it really fits with how the universe will always be outside our full comprehension, despite all the technology; and this music nails that feel
3:00 feels like you suddenly realize something very important, that will forever change your life
Everything after 2:31 is just perfect
Play this at my funeral
Adventure, hah! Excitement, a Jedi craves not these things.
Wars not make one great!
Size matters not. Look at me, judge me by my size, do you? And well you should not, for my ally is the force... and a powerful ally it is.
3:41 my favorite version of Vader's theme. I've always loved Darth Vader. I was so sad when he died in episode 6 but he is still my favorite
@2:05-3:22 has almost brought tears to my eyes many times
"I don't....I don't believe it!"
"That is why you fail"
I've always thought that the music at 2:33-3:02 sounded a lot like the song "Oh What A Beautiful Morning" from the musical "Oklahoma!"
3:00 How short people feel when they win a fight against a taller person
Anyone else notice that the opening cue was the exact same here as when darth Vader and Luke skywalkers duel began?
One part I loved about TROS is the X-Wing lifting scene. This was the only track they could have used for that.
Came here after rewatching Empire again and I noticed some bits of this song are used in the LEGO City theme in LEGO Star Wars The Complete Saga
2:40 even at his old age, Yoda is a badass. I mean if he still had the strength he would've whacked the Senate's ass in more ways than one.
I will die on the hill that Yoda is, was, and will always be more powerful than any iteration of Darth Sidious.
“Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the ship.”
0:52 A good start for reading this.
Star wars en escencia pura.
Una excelente musica para acompañar a una escena todavía mejor.
This art, REAL art!
"No. Try not! Do, or do not. There is no try."
This and Battle of Endor 2 (5:02) are my favorite songs in the entirety of the Star Wars saga (so far).
cant forget Anakin's Betrayal (I cry) and when the falcon escapes from the death star in Endor part 3... that gives me chills every time
RED Engineer Dude, that's hilarious. Also my absolute two favorites, alongside the trench run music from a New Hope. The ending on that one is etched perfectly in my mind.
I can really imagine a Future Star Wars show, that takes place in the beginning of the High Republic Era, and somehow a real Baby Yoda Will appear, and during this scene, this theme will certainly play
There is something about this trilogies' music, especially ESB, that just seems so much more epic, more emotional and mature than anything else that John Williams has ever created for Star Wars. His creative use and variations with all the themes interwoven throughout the pieces, makes them so memorable and sentimental more than any of the other SW scores. I feel he got away from that some in the prequels and there was almost none of that in the last trilogy.
1:45 is awesome!
1:40 - 2:06 it's beautiful
Nice little Empire striking back there at the very end, wasn't expecting that lol. And yeah, pun intended.
The whole theme is awesome, but that begining give pretty dope goosebumps, my god, the memories 😞😞😞😞
This was one of my most favorite themes in star wars. That they used this in TFA teaser broke me down.
02:33 Scene of The Rise of Skywalker
Where Luke finally lifts his X-Wing before Rey's very eyes.
2:40 simplesmente emocionante, me leva as lágrimas 👏👏👏👏
00:29 the soothing sound of X-Wings in the background after the Good Guy beat down is finally done.
This is the pivotal scene of Star Wars. It is also the one most betrayed by the nonsense of all subsequent SW movies. (It started unraveling in ROTJ after Obi Wan was revealed as a liar for misrepresenting what happened to Luke's father.) Luke failed because of his lack of confidence and belief. But Yoda clearly exerted some supreme effort in lifting the fighter out of the swamp. To the Yoda of ESB, The Force is a respected, dignified and moral ally, not just some supernatural power conferred by bugs in your bloodstream. Just about everything else related to the Force since ESB has been stupid and juvenile. I am convinced that George Lucas never grasped the significance of his own creation. Oh George, ESB was near-perfect..what happened?!? How could you go on to miss the mark so widely?!?
(This music is awesome, btw).
Amazing
0:27-1:40 💗💗💗
2:57 onward sounds like ET
“Luminous beings are we”
Who’s here after TROS (at 2:04)
George Costanza almost made me tear up

some of the most soothing music i've ever heard, esp when you think of X-Wings in the background.
3:00 when Luke uses the force to hold his old X-wing for Rey
Yes!!
We don't talk about garbage here
@@DanieleMulas-up7np That one scene was one the few who was great
@@cosclay4869 No, it really wasn't. It's stupid nostalgia bait, and it retroactively makes TLJ even worse, as Luke could have gotten on his wrinkly ass to fly all the way to Crait instead of dying pointlessly.
@@DanieleMulas-up7np He did not die pointlessly but meh that's your opinion, TLJ is probably my favorite of the sequels
2:07 Lego Star wars the extra mission anyone?
Anybody here after THAT scene in tros
Made me tear up
Fuck those movies
“Shh... let people enjoy things.”
@@daustin8888 That was the one part of that movie that had real emotion.
@@elijahblechman8633 It only had a emotion because you are making a connection between the music that was played in that scene to The Empire Strikes Back. The characters in the sequel trilogy aren't deep or memorable enough to get emotional about.
“vader is here, now on this moon”
I don't know why John Williams won the Oscar for this masterpiece 😥😦😤😉😯
He used to get nominated almost every year anyway lol
Don't you mean Grammy instead of Oscar
Fame won instead. What the fuck were they thinking????
I stopped watching the Oscars a year later when they gave Best Original Score to Chariots of Fire over Raiders of the Lost Ark, haven't looked back since.
cause he's a genius dumb fuck
1:02 throwback to Star Wars Galaxies character select
Why is this track so relaxing?
3:00
play this when galaxy's edge opens its blast doors for the first time at the park
0:10 The synth plays the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th notes of today's theme. (C,A,F#)
Sorry, meant Yoda's. Stupid auto-correct
First Yoda, now Luke. The circle is now complete.
The contrast is hilarious, the beautiful Yoda theme , with Yoda revealing his true power helping Luke and the beauty of the force
Then sharp cut to evil music with Vader murdering a guy while choking him with the force 😂😂😂😂😂
*closes my eyes and pans out my hand*
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019) brought me here.
That really sucks to hear.
Eww
"That. . . is why you fail."
