it's certainly possible! Although I hope not, cause it'd be so much angstier to have the characters actually worry the others are dead, y'know? Him just having the answer would feel lackluster to me. But yeah, lots of fairytales are based on him, even if the stories are a bit different from what actually happened.

Ah I love this theory!! So much angst potential in it xDD What if he couldn't contact them at all? at least at the beginning. Like he starts dreaming about this place every night and finally after few nights he sees the girls and (spoiler) Jaune and starts talking to them trying to reach them but can't? Like make it very hard for him to even hear them, like visions but very low quality xD And he becomes determined to get to them so he unknowingly pushes his semblance more and gets some kind of results? but it drains his energy because sleep is to let your body and mind rest and he does the opposite every night and gets more and more tired. Nora, Ren, Emerald see the change in him and are kinda cocncerned but all of them are really depressed now buuut acually no, Emerald isn't so she has the opportunity to take care of Oscar. And at his very limit he finally succeeds in contacing Ruby gets the message that they are okay and then something must go wrong because angst. Also lmao Tyrian yes I'm scared for the boy.
This reminds me of Jinora from the Legend of Korra where she meditates and uses her soul to communicate with people so I guess he could do it with his aura. It would be amazing!
ooh, what if eventually it's like if you touch in the dream you switch consciousnesses when you both wake up? So they'd wake up in each other's places/bodies? Kinda a twist on the teleportation aspect of Raven's
plus that'd tie in personality wise for Oscar, as he's very empathetic and puts himself in others' shoes, so to speak! Little body swap evolution lol, trying to picture Oscar in Ruby's body doing his mannerisms and speech patterns and vice versa XD
Oh, maybe another take on that body swap ability would be if they are touching each other in real life, not just in the dream, the person or ppl touching Oscar are also pulled into that dream world. So after the "boop", Ren could see Nora or at least Ruby and she tells Nora about whatever Ren says or has Ruby do

When I was imagining this it was under the idea that the merge was gonna finalize this volume, because... checkov's gun... and that's how story arcs work... but rwby doesn't always follow storytelling beats lol. So who knows when it'll finalize! Hopefully we'll get to see them at all in volume 9! It's definitely possible Oz would be like "hey this is a semblance" but I feel like writing-wise it'd be better for Oscar to discover it on his own? Idk how that'd go though... good point!
Now that the v8 finale happened I think the 2 people he could more easily connect to would be Ruby and Jaune, he'll connect first to Ruby as she's his rose, and then to prove those dreams to the rest he tries to connect with Jaune and he says to tell Renora that he's okay and he says something like the Boop thing you said but with the whole JNPR group so they believe him and maybe later we'll have the same with Winter and Weiss so our new maiden stops feeling guilty about not saving her, and he uses Shade's library to see if there's any info about the crazy place RWBYJN and the bunch of refugees Cinder threw are in and try to take them out.
I am finally getting around to listening to this theory..... if he has a semblance and I say if for reason; I'll save that for the end of this comment..... but if he does have a semblance I can see it being something along the lines of a dream semblance and him getting depressed enough to want to live within his own dreams... or maybe an astral projection type thing..... but I propose a theory that I have no backing for whatsoever because I haven't really thought about it until now..... But what if he doesn't have a semblance at all? What if everyone that Oz ends up merging with never have a semblance? And that is how people are chosen in order to merge with Oz...... because I don't remember any of his past lives showing a semblance nor do I remember Ozpin explicitly having his semblance revealed either....... and I would say that it because you can't have magic and a semblance but of course we have the maidens and they have their semblances....... but we also see that Salem doesn't have a semblance either...... so maybe there's a possibility that anyone associated with people from previous humanity won't have a semblance.......... But Oz often reincarnates into full-grown people, who very well may have already unlocked their semblances. Ozma wouldn't have had one since he was from the original humanity with magic, but I don't think it's likely every ozcarnation loses their semblance. It's meant to be a part of every soul, so for me the question now is whether he'd unlock it before the merge or after it. I think I'd prefer before, so when he keeps it after it's like a signal that he's still true to himself even if now he's also someone else. Listening to this video, you said that you are not a supporter of Rosegarden. While I also do like Ruby and Oscar as friends I really really like rosegarden, but I would love to know how you think Oscar could end up loving, because other than Emerald, he didn't show any other strong chemistry with anyone else.

Besides, I feel like dream travelling isn't super OP and unless it evolves it's pretty circumstantial (like Ren's was). Oz said their magic is finite and dwindling, so Oscar has to use it sparingly, and the nuke is almost all out of stored energy, so that also must be used sparingly (most likely it'll only have one use left). His initials ARE "OP" though XD
