What's your favorite variation? Mine is the swap, where both people are conscious in one another's bodies. It has a lot of potential for fun stuff and plot stuff! I'd also love if he could swap other people, or evolve his semblance to be able to do so. All that said, this is still one of my less-preferred semblances for Oscar. And yes, I know the tweet isn't necessarily about RWBY (see the very end of the video) but it COULD be, sooooo enjoy the theory!

These are interesting and I agree with the aversion to the body hopping semblance. I really hate that idea. My personal theory is that it's astral projection, where Oscar can project his mind/spirit and travel to people and/or places he's come into contact with. And it would JUST be Oscar, leaving Oz behind. He could be communicating to Blake through astral projection, possibly because he can't get to Ruby for some reasons (i.e she's unconscious; Ruby's mind somehow is blocking it). It would be a mind semblance, where the person he is visiting has to be in the right mindset to see Oscar's form and Oscar needs to be in a good mindset to properly project and/or travel.

Also it would be a great way to keep the two parties connected even when team RWBY is in another world. Though if it happens I'd at least want a few episodes before the reveal because I want Team RWBY to feel completely cut off from everyone and see the follow up of that.
Agreed, I'd want that a few chapters in, maybe providing a transition to Vacuo, or maybe we don't see Vacuo (I hope we do for Nora and Emerald alone). At this point all my main theories for Oscar's semblance serve as a link between the worlds. Is this my desperate attempt to wedge Oscar into Volume 9? Or is it a plotline that'll be explored? We'll see!

Gosh I am starved for Oscar content!!!! (He is such a bean!!!!!) I do prefer your theories on the light or dream semblances mostly because they seem more realistic. I also would prefer dream travel or photokinesis, but if this "little Oscar in my head" DOES mean something, I figured I'd list my terms XD Subject to change, of course, but it's still one of my less preferred semblances for him. @@HyperfixationStation I agree! The only reason I see this semblance as mystical is because consciousness and the mind space are so difficult from space and time and the manipulation of the odds. I can see the semblance being a think if thry make sure to explain it in universe. Semblances often have rules and limitations, and CRWBY must follow them. But yes I agree 100%! I am excited to see the merge and hope it is what you theorize, where Oz melts into Oscar, creating Ozcar.
Haven't finished the vid yet but wanted to share my thoughts. I do agree that Oscar's semblance might be related to how he "brings people together", even though you could argue Ozpin has this as well. Oscar has been the one showing a huge part of his moral code is "working together" and "giving second chances". Shows he is very empathic which does give weight to a possibility of him being similar to say... Steven from Steven Universe. And able to communicate with others mentally as a semblance. Throw some magic in there and he could possibly do so past deminsions. But also if he does get the body swap semblance I would hope it's more to do with co-existing not full on take over.
Yes! Ozpin and Oscar both emphasize unity, but in different ways (and similar ones, like I gave a couple examples for) and I love that! Oz is much more big picture unifying whereas Oscar focuses more on individual cooperation, and watching that merging of approaches for the same goals is just **chef's kiss** And AGREED I really dislike that version the most, having it be a takeover or something that pushes the other person out of consciousness. I'd be down for either coexisting or swapping so both are still conscious but in each others' bodies.

I feel if my theory is correct and it's like Steven from Steven Universe. Then Oscar can project his conciousness. Oz wouldn't follow because Oscar's leaves. So Ozpin takes the body temporarily. Until Oscar returns to the body. But yeah... the writers have alot of possibilities but also alot of ways this could go south if not done well. But I think that they will put the care in that I've seen them do in alot of other characters. And the focus Oscar has been getting shows they care about his character. He is a core character. They would have to give it as much care as we are hoping. But either way. If the semblance is something totally left field but still feels like Oscar I won't complain either.
I really wonder if they'd had Oscar's semblance planned back in v5 or not, since some things are planned in advance and others are done on the fly. I like the projection idea! The tweet made me picture Oscar speaking through Blake, since Aaron was directing Arryn's voice acting and all she could see was "little Oscar" while they recorded. I hope the focus Oscar's been getting is expanded in the coming volumes to having more character-related internal conflict, as external conflicts have been hitting him too fast for us to really get a good look at what's going on INSIDE. Maybe I'm getting spoiled, but I crave more than v8's "we're merging and I don't want to" twice and then never being elaborated on/clarified :P I wanna know WHAT "feeling" them merging means, what his sense of identity (and Oz's) are doing up there, etc. There's so much I hope will be explored before the merge finalizes, cause the writers sometimes fall into the trap of keeping things secret until the last minute for ~mystery~ in a way that leaves the audience wondering why the questions weren't asked/answered earlier. If they wait til it's almost over, they'll lose out on a lot of the potential of this premise for the sake of mystery. Just my hot writer's take XD

I keep thinking back to Ozpin at Beacon telling Blake if she needs anything, "Please don't hesitate to ask." Like that's pretty clear foreshadowing and yet I have the suspicion it'll never be followed up on. I'd say that's a stretch but like. Look at how the Qrow and Ironwood plot went. He died before "James will take the fall. I'll make sure of it" and "we can kill the man who put us here" got to mean anything :/ That said, it could be cool following up on that with a talk between Blake and Oscar pre- or post-merge
Speaking of body hopping, I could imagine it hypothetically being a solution to Oscar's individuality dilemma as well as one of the main negatives of Rose Garden. Basically, if Oscar had the power to hop body to body, if Oz gained that ability through osmosis or something, the two could theoretically live their lives apart. I imagine they wouldn't want to burden a random person with carrying Ozpin, so I think in this hypothetical situation someone like Qrow would volunteer. I just think Qrow seems like the most likely candidate in this situation. He's old, his life is devoted to huntsman work, he's already a close friend of Oz and he would probably do it for Ruby. Still a better fate than him dying just for the sake of dying. And if I want to push it, it could theoretically be tied back to the whole "choice" theme that the crown relic will probably have, where this time instead of a random reincarnation for Oz, it will be one where all participants are given a choice in the matter. Picture the scene. The fighting is over. Back at Patch, Everyone that survives is there and we get to see everyone's aftermath. Qrow comes to volunteer to take Ozpin. Ozpin hops over to Qrow. Oscar, Ruby and Ozpin finally have a real talk face to face, about the future, about the world (blah blah blah). Qrow & Oz depart. Oscar and Ruby start discussing what adventures they will go on next. They hug or something. Some small talk about choice, hope and possibilities. Hear me out… Telepathy. Think of it like the headmaster Charles of X-Men. However I wanna give it my little twist. I think it’s going to be like a Raven semblance where she can go send a portal to people she has a certain bond with. Oscar can communicate telepathically to someone he shares a bond with. And can you imagine what will happen when he hears Ruby is possibly dead and he unlocks his semblance right then and there! He clearly cares about Ruby and I think that’s gonna happen!
Ok i seriously didn’t think about a body hop semblance for Oscar before but now I’m really for it with him being able to contact the rest of the group in wonderland(???) and just Oscar accepting it as apart of him not Oz now I’m hyped even more for volume 9!!!!
aw yay, glad you enjoyed it!! I just really want Oscar to be able to contact the others in some way, as the link between the worlds to help without needing to be in the spotlight during a volume that I think is set to focus on RWBYJ :)
If Oscar is going to be gone in the future and will just be a vessel to the reincarnation Ozma also known as Ozpin he should at least be able to leave this with some kind symbolism or semblance of who he once was and that should be his own semblance not connected to Ozpin or anyone else.
Admittedly, Ozpin’s comment about his magic dwindling may have been a lie, it doesn’t seem to lineup with other portrayals of Magic, it’s linked to his soul, and the Maiden’s powers aren’t getting weaker. He may have lied to avoid questions like, “how did you get your magic in the first place?” “Why are you the only person who can use magic
If I'm honest I think something cliche would be better for him. So to speak, that his semblance is similar to how the grims become strong, that is, that he can absorb the positivity and negativity of people and transform it into various types of power, with this we remove some gaps such as his mental resistance after the torture of Salem . But for this to work, Oscar doesn't have to know, he has to find out. Let me explain better: that in volume 9 the past of Oscar is talked about and that the viewer be given clues that he always had a semblance, but for this to be really strong it would be necessary to unite people in the cause of ending that woman. To give an analogy: let him be the legged genkidama from the show. Post: yes, I know it's cheesy but for the context of the character it works better than body swapping in my opinion. Post 2: I am Spanish, so if you see something strange, it is because of the translator.

Maybe they can take Inspiration from Danny Phantom and have Body Possessions or maybe a Teleportation Semblance kinda like Shadow from Sonic Boom since Oscar is in the Scout Class,The possibilities are limitless.
@@HyperfixationStation Well to clarify,People that are in the Scout Class are very Fast and Nimble which they most often use their Size to their Advantage in Battle especially when facing up against Bigger Opponents. They're Strong against the Tech Class but they're pretty weak against the Warrior Class since they use Fast-paced moves combined with their Fighting style.
If Oscar had the semblance to swap pepoles body's around it would be an out to killing salem because if only he swapped over and Oz stayed in Oscar's body then they would both die together by either ruby or someone else killing Oscar's body

@@HyperfixationStation I Realize now I worded that very poorly if Oscar's semblance allowed him to switch bodies with other people But oz's soul stayed in Oscar's body no matter who is in it If he switches with Salem they could kill both of them at once as well as give Oscar control over the Grimm and I think they will need that advantage because I am fairly certain Salem won't be the endgame plan the twin gods will be I hope this clears up any confusion
See, I've always had this question regarding the Ozcarnations, the merges and their semblances. If the souls merge, theoretically so should the semblances. So either Oz has access to all their semblances, or a mixed one. That's why I've never really thought that the merge was that literal. Plus, "You'll reincarnate in a way you're never alone". If they become one soul, he's kinda alone at that point.
yeah I don't think the merge is so literal and simple as a 50:50 blend or literal physical souls morphing into someone they're not. It's a good theory, that the semblances would theoretically blend, but I don't know what CRWBY has in store on that front. If that's the case I'd say he'll likely unlock it after merging so they can avoid that confusion, but who knows?
it's my analysis that Oscar will not have an identity death, but will become the next Oz. He'll be able to make choices and be present, but he'll also identify with past lives (to what extent remains to be seen, but so far it seems ozcarnations fully see themselves as one soul, which they are). It'll be like if you took Oscar Pine, the farmhand, and put him through everything Oz has been through, that'll be who he is after the merge. The souls are *merging,* "becoming one," oz isn't taking over or erasing oscar, but oscar is becoming more than just oscar, if that makes sense. If not, I've got a whole video on it on the channel, and plans to make an updated one :D

If Oscar is going to be gone in the future and will just be a vessel to the reincarnation Ozma also known as Ozpin he should at least be able to leave this with some kind symbolism or semblance of who he once was and that should be his own semblance not connected to Ozpin or anyone else.
Admittedly, Ozpin’s comment about his magic dwindling may have been a lie, it doesn’t seem to lineup with other portrayals of Magic, it’s linked to his soul, and the Maiden’s powers aren’t getting weaker. If I'm honest I think something cliche would be better for him.

@@HyperfixationStation I think I said this on it blog before but I think it be cool is Oscar had a sand semblance bit he like the sand man and can summon stuff from dreams and use sand and dust together to different things like if he use red dust with his sand semblance and use it to make glass to fight cinder with or use sand and wind to make a mini sand storm
He could all so make a dream like reality around people or grim take them in to it and fight people and grim using day dreams and fairy tails
Personally I always thought that oz curse was that of a combination of OFA and AFO from MHA in "gathering" and "inherenting" from past lives.
Maybe they can take Inspiration from Danny Phantom and have Body Possessions or maybe a Teleportation Semblance kinda like Shadow from Sonic Boom since Oscar is in the Scout Class,The possibilities are limitless.
imagine he finds out he can teleport and is like "Really? I find this NOW?? Not when I was IMPRISONED???"

@@HyperfixationStation Well to clarify,People that are in the Scout Class are very Fast and Nimble which they most often use their Size to their Advantage in Battle especially when facing up against Bigger Opponents.
They're Strong against the Tech Class but they're pretty weak against the Warrior Class since they use Fast-paced moves combined with their Fighting style.

If Oscar had the semblance to swap pepoles body's around it would be an out to killing salem because if only he swapped over and Oz stayed in Oscar's body then they would both die together by either ruby or someone else killing Oscar's body

@@HyperfixationStation I Realize now I worded that very poorly if Oscar's semblance allowed him to switch bodies with other people But oz's soul stayed in Oscar's body no matter who is in it If he switches with Salem they could kill both of them at once as well as give Oscar control over the Grimm and I think they will need that advantage because I am fairly certain Salem won't be the endgame plan the twin gods will be I hope this clears up any confusion
See, I've always had this question regarding the Ozcarnations, the merges and their semblances.
If the souls merge, theoretically so should the semblances. So either Oz has access to all their semblances, or a mixed one. That's why I've never really thought that the merge was that literal.
Plus, "You'll reincarnate in a way you're never alone". If they become one soul, he's kinda alone at that point.
yeah I don't think the merge is so literal and simple as a 50:50 blend or literal physical souls morphing into someone they're not. It's a good theory, that the semblances would theoretically blend, but I don't know what CRWBY has in store on that front. If that's the case I'd say he'll likely unlock it after merging so they can avoid that confusion, but who knows?
Will Oscar die once their souls fully merge or will Oscar's soul be deeply embedded with that of Ozpin's?
it's my analysis that Oscar will not have an identity death, but will become the next Oz. He'll be able to make choices and be present, but he'll also identify with past lives (to what extent remains to be seen, but so far it seems ozcarnations fully see themselves as one soul, which they are). It'll be like if you took Oscar Pine, the farmhand, and put him through everything Oz has been through, that'll be who he is after the merge. The souls are *merging,* "becoming one," oz isn't taking over or erasing oscar, but oscar is becoming more than just oscar, if that makes sense. If not, I've got a whole video on it on the channel, and plans to make an updated one :D
