This was so helpful. I liked the precise information on tilting the Uke so you have visual sight of the left hand playing the chords and lining up the music sheet with the eyes, right in line with where you are seeing the left hand play the chords.
Nobody ever explained that to me in four years of playing.
Thank you Kev! 🦋 That’s why I like your site so much, your attention to detail is so good.

    Hello,
    Very useful info.
Most shops here don't really appreciate beginners trying out the instruments. If I had had this info last year I wouldn't be stuck with a soprano uke as my first instument that nearly lead me to stop trying to play.
I was lucky enough to find a smaller shop that gave me good advice just like your advice.👍
Now I enjoy practicing. The simple G chords was a pain in the wrist and now a piece of cake.
I have a tenor with low G and a Bariton with guitar strings low GCEA one full octave lower 220hz in stead of 440hz.
    Thank you.
    Cheers from Belgium

Thanks Kevin. I started with a soprano (affectionately named Mighty Mite) and my instructor took a minute or two to describe how to hold it. It kept slipping though so I switched to a concert with a strap. Now I just have to convince the missus that I need a tenor now too!

My ukulele journey only began on the 10th November this year and I’ve recently been struggling to fret F without a dead note! T`hanks to your r tip, I moved from F to G7 without catching another string! 😀

Good stuff! Thanks. I like the soprano uke magically appearing at 6:56 too!

I'm not sure I play in right position now. Too many useful information. I need to rewatch this video and I have some unfamiliar words. But anyway thank you so much for this video, and, of course, this is super useful and informative as always.
I watched your previous video about it, but you added more information. I used to hold my uke at about 90°, but you relearned me

Thanks so much for this video! Because I’ve been learning by myself and I know Posture and arm/hand positioning is awful because I always struggle to freely move and I get pain in my left wrist from holding the neck too tensely and pushing on the strings too hard/ awkwardly/ the angle feels weird and unnatural etc. so thank you thank you. This was such a helpful tutorial. love your channel thanks again for all the amazing content

Thank you, this is mighty helpful, especially the music sight line detail. I’ve wondered if the little shimmying uke may be too small for me but I love the sound, so persevere I will!

This video answers my prayers for I've been having trouble with everything position related. During my daily practice time today I tried implementing the hand placement and I found out it helps me change chords faster, so I'm excited about that; however, I guess I still have to do some exercises to streghten my back because I keep slouching (I have a tenor) TwT
    Thank you for the tips!

Tried to use the strap with my concert uke, but it was problematic, the strap was moving and didn't help. Thank you, your tips are useful.

Just today I put marks on the upper margin of the fretboard for the 5th, 7th and 10th frets, because the front marks are not visible enough 🤔
