I am so glad I didn't accept their offer for one of these gaming chairs. Appreciate you always doing the hard work for us.
As someone who is tall enough to go first, I am glad that you called them out on their height-based prejudice.
Personally, the height restriction is a godsend to me. My friend Mark is 6'3" and I'm so sick of him always getting to go first.
This is silly, the chair is obviously not meant to have boardgames played on it, come on. It's literally called a "Racing Knight series", so it's designed for racing and... I dunno, jousting I guess.
I suggest getting a few more of those, grabbing hold of a few fire extinguishers and mops with long handles and then doing a proper follow-up review.
I’m confused - you mentioned that players will have their view of the game obstructed, but it looks like the chair revolves? Couldn’t you turn the chair so that everyone has a turn at seeing the board clearly?
It's so obvious. Why didn't he think of that?
@@ScytheNoire I feel confident that he did, but that it got cut for timing, pacing, or dramatic tension. He is, after all, an award-winning media-content creator. Who are we to judge genius?
This!
Ah, at least they actually gave you a chair... unlike some companies who won't send tables. +1
This is silly, the chair is obviously not meant to have boardgames played on it, come on. It's literally called a gaming chair meaning you play with it when you dont have any friends. I have mine and I play 2 player coops with it. It's awesome!
2 player co-ops chair sharing is a whole different type of game, though the 155° adjustment and armrests would be useful.
I thought you might be on to something so I gave this a try with my own gaming chair. I'll give it some more time and report back again later, but it hasn't been a positive experience so far. The gaming chair is taking forever to take its turn. Worst case of AP I've ever seen.
Another quality review. Thanks for your honesty in helping the public make informed decisions.
You forgot that in a four-player game, the chair can be rotated in-place like a fancy Lazy Susan. It doesn't help that some players won't be able to see what's going on on certain other players' turns but maybe that'll be useful for any "fog-of-war-but-only-on-the-player-across-from-you" games.
It might work as a luxury component for games that need a shield like Mysterium. I might pick up a set of 6 for Keyflower depending on pricing. I am a little concerned about storage though.
You mentioned in a 4p game that players will have their views blocked, but it looks like one neat feature of this gaming chair is that it can swivel around so the active player can always have their view face-up!
That's a great point, and that gives me sort of a crazy idea for a product that you could place on a table top that is round and has wheels on it so you could spin a board around so that it could face the currently active player. I hope no one has thought of that yet. I think I'll name it after my lazy wife Susan, who's always complaining about the board not facing her, but refusing to get up and move around the table so she can look at the board how she wants to. Thanks for the idea!
i am sometimes saddened that this very excellent channel doesn't have the millions of subscribers it deserves. but i am gladdened that, at the very least, you get free chairs out of it
Why would they tell you after the fact that the chair is for sitting? They should call it a sitting chair instead! And then they recommend that you use a table instead. Outrageous!
Perhaps it is better suited for hidden identity games, or games like code names, I also found that multiple gaming chairs work well with worker placement games. The armrests hold the meeples, the seat holds your board and then a small side table works well for the main board. though this set up is great, it cost a lot of have this much luxury
For the party game of musical chairs, it can be a blast to play!
Why for a second would you think it's meant to have people play over the arms?
The swivel is to allow players to rotate the play area to them on their turn so that the arms aren't in the way, but stops other players from interfering. Have you never played with obnoxious friends before?
The back rest prevents the 4th player from engaging in "table talk". This was a clearly well thought out design for team based games, by people who ACTUALLY play lots of board games.
I'm guessing the real value of these gaming chairs is for games where you have information you want to be hidden from other players. So, you simply purchase a chair for each player, and then you gather in a circle (or square) and each have your game components on your own chair, and the back of the chair obfuscates the other player's vision of what's going on in front of you. Usually the "information shields" included in the game itself are sufficient, but if you could have a fancy spinning one that also achieves that purpose, why wouldn't you?
Love how many companies just fall for you again and again :-D
You left out what would be to me one of the most important features of the gaming chair - the ability to angrily spin the chair around to toss all the pieces on the floor. Similar to a table flip, but perhaps more satisfying. TBH, this could also be flipped now that I think about it. Maybe an angry spin and then flip? People love options.
Oh man I love these reviews. They are so informative and really help me with my future purchases. Thank you for these reviews.
One of your best videos, love your creativity
Great review, subbed!
Sometimes I can't decide if your product reviews or game tutorials are more valuable to me.
Thanks for the honest review! Most channels make sure to rate a product highly because they are getting free stuff. I subscribe to that.
These are the only board game videos I watch all the way 😂 The email response at the end is perfection.
“The table is the good place” As true as it’s ever been…
Generally speaking.
What I love about these reviews is that it is still somehow a decent advert for the chair (or other product). Covering some helpful specs and saying it's comfy. Not that I'll buy the chair but it's still legitimate
Lots of people above 6'1" play. We love going first!
I think you got it wrong.. when you recline it it’s a great dice tower, you should try it..
Truly a master of deadpan sarcasm. As someone who usually goes first, I find their height restrictions greatly disturbing.
This is one of the best reviews I have ever seen
Good review, but I've been waiting on your How To Play video on Spirit Island for 4 years now. I've heard it's fun, but until I know how to play it, I guess I'll have to continue to leave it on my shelf.
Until now, it was just fairground rides that had 'ruler' boards excluding those who are not "... this tall to ride". Congratulations for highlighting the lack of inclusivity with this chair.
I never really understood "gaming" chairs, I just re-purpose my "office" chair.
Yep, another winner.
Had me at the start, I'm not gonna lie.
Truly: guffaw out loud. Thanks! -Toby
I liked it as a game stage chair, you can roll it around the house so you don't have to carry your game collection
Lol! Very nice entertaining video! Well done!
Thank you for your public service. Had it not been for your video, I may have been duped into buying one of these by their clever marketing.
I appreciate you standing up to height discrimination! Typically I am the tallest player in my group and I usually feel excluded from things.
But normally you go first in the game
@@hugoiwata that's a disgusting rule. I don't know if I could support a channel that would promote that
I know I wouldn't like, comment and subscribe that's for sure.
Thank you for your in-depth analysis. Because of their very attractive design, I was tempted to buy one of these. Unfortunately, it looks like the promised functionality is simply a failure in every respect. You have saved me a lot of money and frustration!
I found the height discrimination interesting, as I'm one inch too tall for it, and my spouse is one inch too short for it.
So I guess it wouldn't work for either of us.
Also very professional to have typos in your own company's name 0:08:
"This is Cherry from EwinRacing International Crop"
Umm, shouldn't that be CORP not CROP?
Wow, wild of you to assume it's a typo. I think we can trust that Cherry is enough of a professional to not spell their own company's name wrong.
I for one am very interested to hear the story of how and why an international crop racing company got into making gaming chairs.
@@shannonwedge1410 Very good point. I was quick to jump to assumptions and I apologize to Cherry.
I too would be interested in hearing more about this subject. Maybe a Netflix mini-series in our future?
😆
That’s not a gaming chair to play ON, but to play WITH. No wonder you were so disappointed.
🤣
Lol what.
Enough with the review videos you use as shameless free stuff grabs! Go back to what you did best, the "How to play" game reviews. Those were your bread and butter!
Never heard of your channel, I found you on Reddit, but you win my sub. I like your style
