Nice review, been driving mine(4S E-Hybrid) for the past 4 weeks here in Canada, nothing short of FANTASTIC, drive and build quality ! My car shows 70km(40 miles) range when fully charge and does it, city driving will give me another 10m with regen braking. Do all the city driving on electric and long trips spent doing what we like, not the charging station playing video games 😉 Perfect car !!!
Just a note: Premium Package includes: Power Seats (14-way) with Memory Package LED Headlights incl. Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) 4-Zone Climate Control BOSE® Surround Sound System Lane Change Assist (LCA) Ventilated Seats (front) Heated Seats (front and rear) Ambient Lighting Plus Soft Close Doors
Another great review as always. I have my ‘22 4S E-Hybrid on order (coming to OC) in Chalk with Black and Bordeaux Red leather interior and 21” jet black SportDesign wheels. If you want to review the sedan version, let me know (it is crazy fast, 0-60 in 3.2 road test by Motorweek). There is nothing else out there like this car… covers my commute in full electric, an insanely fast 4-door sports car with virtually no turbo lag, and a family/road-trip car too… all in utmost Porsche luxury. I actually love the interior/tech upgrades and think the clickable/buttonless set up is the happy medium between old buttons and total non-responsive touchscreens. I would welcome a few more knobs though (like what they put for the temperature control) and could do without the electronic air vent adjustability.
Our 2018 CT6 2.0E plug-in usually goes 40 miles but I have seen up to 48 miles on battery before the engine fires up. But 80-100 miles would be perfect.
Terrific episode! Yesterday, I showed my wife a CAR and DRIVER feature on a VW GTI, which (however generally favorable ) bemoaned the haptic feedback, touch sensing, capacitive smoothy, eyes-off-the-road stuff. Just prior to playing this, I mentioned to her that "he's gonna complain about the black leather - and he's right." Bingo! And you rightly hit Porsche for the unsafe, haptic feedback smoothy stuff. Well done!
I love the idea of chopping the options half the prices 👍 wish this could be done with the whole car too😂 this is classic combination of luxury and sportiness in a car.
Kumo proposed that idea to his contact @ Porsche and they laughed at him as well. In response, he returned the car with LOTS of white hair and sand in the back:)
George, you're looking sharp sitting on the gentian blue Panamera, while wearing a blue pattern plaid shirt with striped blue socks. Personally, I've never been crazy about the Panamera's 'stretched' 911 look, but this one is quite appealing. Thanks.
I love the review! Great job as always!! I ordered a '21 Porsche Panamera 4S e-hybrid Sport Turismo in December. I pick it up @ the Porsche Experience center in Atlanta on July 2nd - cannot wait. I got mine in Papaya metallic (orange) with Cohiba interior (saddle brown.) And yes, those options are just crazy expensive - nuts. Mine was $156k total with all of them. I try not to think about that - just looking forward to finally getting it. I guess epa rating the mileage with the new batteries took way too long...
George I hate to admit it, we kinda lost the button war. I drove a Cayenne 2018 with all the buttons - that's just too much - back to back with a Taycan, which was much easier and nicer, I liked the haptic screen in the middle console. Only the main buttons should stay - light - wiper - horn - loudspeaker - AC - Gearleaver which has to have real heft and stuff on the steering wheel. This one is great on the Panamera. A good balance for me is the 718 in Porsche land right now. There is also a difference between a GT - you want to cover effortless large distances and a sports-car where you want to engage - hence the preference for all manual. Beside the best UI on the market for is still BMW - but also I am used to it, call me biased - can use it blind at anytime. Yes with the color combo contrast you have my vote - I just bought a blue car with creme Interieur for the contrast :) High class and deep knowledgable reviews - you get it here folks!
Wow, didn't anyone notice the brand-new-for-2021 S-Class in the hanger? Looks like it is finished in very rare enerald green metallic to boot! Would love to see that review.
Wife and I are in the market for a luxury sport sedan or “wagon” and this is on the short list. I’m an old school manual guy so that is a drawback, but nothing is offered anywhere with that transmission. I wish Porsche Taycan ST had better mileage. If I’m going to switch to automatic I’m not against full EV and getting rid of ICE maintenance. First world problems. What else have you Panamara guys cross shopped with? I’ve only had manual BMW’s. Isn’t the 5 series coming as a wagon soon and hybrid?
I hope they do upgrade the infotainment with real buttons, switches, etc. Honda tried an all-touch system once. Once. Then they reverted to switches. I will strongly consider this car, but I won't get a 2021 if I know that the 2022 will have a safe and sane system.
I love this thing. I drove 4 e-hybrid and wondered why not the 4S motor with the hybrid. That answers my concern. Is there really going to be a new Panamera? Rumblings are that they won't produce another...
I drove both and am a current BMW guy. But the 8 GC just didn't do it. The rear room wasn't nearly enough to take 4 people to lunch or my family on a weekend trip, but we have an x7 for that. But as my daily I need enough room in the back for that. My son is also 6'3" and he can sit comfortably in this rear seat.
love your videos however you need to get a different camera or set the exposure as the driving scenes are so overexposed that it is hard to see the road you are driving to get an appreciation of how well the car is corning as it always looks like you are driving in a cloud
Appreciate where you guys are coming from, however, I have shared this feedback many times to these comments. RUclips economics do not support what you are asking for. To fix that properly, we would require MUCH more expensive cameras and operators to run them. Here's what I can offer: I have asked multiple times for you guys to share these episodes on your socials and tag us. That will help with discovery of the show, thus more views, thus more revenue.
He reviewed the executive, long wheel sedan, that was german specced version shipped to the US just for the launch of the facelift version. This is vagon of the US version that is on sale there.
If I had to guess, probably to help with the turbo lag and (maybe) to power some of the car systems so that the engine doesnt have to and have longer lifespan. But yeah, no one should buy this car, or any other like this with 500+ HP, if you care about fuel economy.
It's a bout regulations - bifold - one is you save half of the taxes riding it around as a company car, the other half is that we expect to have areas where you are not allowed to drive ICE - meaning you can use this one and drive through this area EV mode only. But you can still have the performance and sufficient reach.
@@bavariancarenthusiast2722 yeah they already have these areas in Europe but the United States is a bit behind in terms of restricting internal combustion engines in cities
@@jays9211 Yes thats´also why OEM´s offer it on the market. EV´s are not there yet - almost but a Taycan as my main car, but it's just too early for here - at least for now for me after I gave it thought and test drives. If you have a mixed profile around town and somewhen longer distances, a plugin hybrid makes sense. Until we have the technology which makes ICE cars obsolete. Vendors are forced to offer them - like the CAFE standard we do have this here too - and regulations. Plugin are mostly bought for corporate cars over here. If you have a high paid job - or you own a company - the Panamera is a great choice. Porsche does not offer any Diesel anymore since 2018, over here it's not substitute for a V8 but a Diesel. Large high tech Diesel are great - clean and efficient, high torque and you can easy drive 1000km plus without refill.
I ordered this car. The hybrid adds a lot of low-end torque and gets you to 60 in under 3.5 seconds. Plus it does get you out of the neighborhood without waking up the neighbors. And it also gets a $7500 rebate. Parking at the front of the grocery parking lot. Oh, and free driving in the hov lane! Lots of perks
GTS is better. Considering with few options added 4s hybrid price is way to close to GTS. And it has v8. In few years v8 will worth more. This one not.
