St Louis Cardinals P and 12 year major league veteran Darryl Kile passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at age 33. Baseball Tonight covers the events of that day

Just a sad day for baseball the day Darryl Kile died. He died so young due to a heart attack. It was the Cardinals 2nd death in a week. First it was Jack Buck and now Darryl Kile. I give Joe Girardi credit for taking the mic that day and announcing to the Wrigley Field crowd about the game being canceled. He handled that very well through the most difficult circumstances. Still hard to believe that he is gone even 20 years later.
Unreal that its been 20 years. I can still remember watching Girardi that a tragedy had happened and the game was canceled. And then I found out that Kile passed
22 years ago today. Very sad and tragic. RIP Darryl.
To this day, I don't understand how a 33 year old athlete can die of heart failure.
Unfortunately, it can happen at any age and at times without warning. That's why we all have to take good care of our bodies and get our hearts checked often. To Flinn Kile (Darryl's wife) and their three kids, our prayers for strength.
It was genetic. He was born with an enlarged heart. Same thing that happened to marathon runner Ryan Shay in 2007. Died during the race
genetics and coronary artery disease. I believe his father also died young due to heart problems.
Look at Lebrons son, he went into full cardiac arrest. He just happened to be with a full medical team. And a defibrillator. He is a kid still.
Interestingly Kile is one of three guys from the 90s Astros to die young along with Ken Caminiti and Jose Lima
3 good players for the Astros in the 90s.
🤕 that's hard.. RIP DK
back in the pre social media I phone days most fans leaving Wrigley didn't know the exact news of what the tragedy was
There wasn't iphones yet, or RUclips and Instagram.
One of the best to throw the curveball.
Before iPhones could spread the news. Nobody in the stands really knew unless they received a message or call from a friend on cell.
