      Oden was nice. His game was a mix of Shaq and Russell. When he went to Portland, and they had Roy, I remember that being like if Roy is healthy, this team are instant contenders.
      Brandon Roy
      LaMarcus Aldridge
      Greg Oden
      Batum and Fernandez were also rookies that year
      Plus these guys had size for days Camby and Howard (Juwan). Scariest what if imo.

    Oden played three future all stars & all defensive team members at his position in his ncaa career(Horford, Noah & Hibbert), & he absolutely dominated all of them.

Could have been corrected if caught early and he missed a few years recovering. He would have been a nice pro and he was dominating in college.

    It was the correct call to draft him #1. He was a generational talent felled by injury. As someone who coaches young volleyball players, his landings are horrific. If you don't teach vb players to land correctly, over time, their backs/knees give out.

    • @treecosmos386
      @treecosmos386 2 года назад

      How are you supposed to land to avoid injuries?

    • @the_flushjackson
      @the_flushjackson Год назад

      You can coach landings fine, but really it boils down to properly training strength and mobility from the feet, ankles, knees and hip so that they work in concert and eliminate injuries that are building up due to imbalances in strength and mobility. Unfortunately, most of this knowledge just wasn't developed enough until the last 5 - 7 years (and it's continuing to evolve).

      You see Ayton succeeding right now with the Suns. I don’t see anything that’s gonna stop Oden from becoming a star. He is more mobile than Hibbert and Jefferson. Dwight is still very effective in today’s era. Oden without the injuries would have challenged Dwight with the “who is the best center in the league” debates.

      Oden was a tremendous defender in college off of BBIQ as well. He was always going to be a good player if he could stay healthy.

      Wrong. There is always a need for players like Greg. He was going to be usefull no matter what.

      Oden was a better athlete than Durant. He was faster down the court, agility drills, vertical, he easily would have done well in the NBA. Put him in pick and rolls, had far more athleticism than most current centers in the NBA. He never would have been a dominant offensive force but he would have been a good third to fourth option and still a great defensive player. Brook Lopez is still a really good defensive player in today's game and Oden was far more athletic.

    Dunks, dunks and more dunks. It’s funny that one of his highlights is a shot that barely goes in. I personally don’t know if he could handle the nba legends at his position which were more versatile.

    Geez once he's in the paint it didn't matter how many guys you put on him, he could be aggressive and dunk it over you, or just be patient and wait for the perfect shot.

      Greg Oden was just much bigger than most of the players he faced in college. And even then, these highlights are misleading. He had many games where he struggled to score, in part because he was notorious for getting a lot of fouls quickly. Oden quite a few 8-point games and lots of times looked lost on the court. He had no post moves and he was very mechanical offensively.

    • @squashua7222
      @squashua7222 2 года назад

      @@michaeljohnson7945 Yeah tbh it looks like his whole game just relies on athleticism. When you get to the NBA you can’t just dunk on everyone that easily unless you’re Shaq but he ain’t even close to Shaq’s build. I wasn’t that impressed with these highlights cause it looks like he can’t do anything but dunk. I’m not trying to hate but I’m just being honest

    • @jamesmarshall6619
      @jamesmarshall6619 Год назад

      @SQUASHUA offensively yes, he was robotic and still developing. Defensively though he was a beast. He had great defensive instincts, knew how to read the offense, that's where his talent early on was. He probably would have had a similar career as Dwight, good offensive player while he had his athleticism but mostly a defensive terror.
