Некоторые западные комментаторы пишут, что Алматы похож на Калифорнию. Что ж? Я скорее соглашусь. Я был в командировке в Калифорнии почти полгода. В городе Пало Альто, не так далеко от Сан Франциско. Отличие только в тгм, что зимой в Калифорнии не ниже +16⁰С.

Is the smog really bad in Almaty? It’s the only thing that makes me hesitant to work there!

It’s bad during winter. During summer it’s not very obvious. During spring and early summer it’s raining season, this is the time when the air feels the cleanest. I love weather in Almaty. Not too cold in winter, max gets cold to -5/-10°C degree, usually it always warm -1/0/+1°C, almost always sunny, even during autumn. Not too hot during summer either, rains a lot. Smog in winter is really bad, all the gas and smoke from cars and cogeneration plants covers the surface of the city with this greyish layer of smog. When you go outside it always smells a little like gasoline and you might have headaches bcuz of it. Solution for you might be living next to mountains, in higher districts of city, but bear in mind that the prices for rent is also higher. The lower and further away from mountains is your house the lower the rent:) hope it helps

В Бишкеке у нас выпиливают весь карагач и тополя, а садят в основном липы, каштаны, дубы и красные клены ! Карагач весь болеет тлей и все листья липкие и скрученные, а тополя угроза для аллергетиков и они имеют способность упасть ни с того, ни с сего, потому что становятся гнилыми изнутри !

Нужно вагоны с решетками на окнах, чтобы мусор не пролазивал через нее, и люди перестанут кидать мусор с окна поездов
