One Year Old Pond Scum Comes Off Easy

  • Protect your boat from pond scum and staining. After one year of going in and out of the water, baked-on pond scum that was on my jon boat from all the outings, this has really helped with clean up.
    Those of you who know my setup, know what I'm talking about, but for those who do not, I'm talking about the Wetlander Slick Boating Coating.
    Wetlander is used on jon boats and airboat hulls. It helps give a slippery surface to help the boat slide across heavy vegetation, mud, and any other obstacle while also protecting your boat bottom.
    Another added benefit it did for my riveted jon boat was seal it up. I had a few leaky rivets but after putting the Wetlander coating on, my boat has been dry on the inside since.
    In addition to helping you slide over things, seal up the boat, and protecting your boat bottom against the unknown, it helps with pond scum and staining. Some water bodies have a nasty film and/or algae on the surface that can stain your boat whether its fiberglass or metal. Wetlander GREATLY decreases this from happening and makes it very easy to clean you boat.
    BOAT SETUP:

    Medium Swamp Runner Longtail Mud Motor Kit {57lbs}

    I am about to completely repaint my boat and bought Wetlander. I'd like to go a few inches up the side of the boat like you did. I'm flipping it over to replace rivets next week and am wondering if you have any opinions on putting on the Wetlander before spraying the rest of the boat. My concern is that painters tape may not even adhere to the Wetlander when it comes time to paint the rest of the boat. Thanks!

      Painters tape does not stick to wetlander. I just resurfaced my bottom with a new coat and I just wanted to do the bottom. Went to put the tape on and it would not stick. I had to move my paint lines from just the bottom up on to the current paint lines. I would paint and save the wetlander for last. Paint the inside and your outside, and then do the wetlander coating.

      I was unsuccessful. I was almost certain I would get some. I thought gator season was going to be down with this whole thing going on. I would have thought people didn't have the money to put into getting tags. Guess I was wrong hahaha I probably won't apply again. I'll just go with other people. It'll be nice to take a break and not have to worry about cleaning up an alligator

    Hey guy long time subscriber here I've watched all your vids I've been reading up on the wetlander I am interested for my johnboat and my airboat the question I am wanting to ask you is if you saw any speed differences before the wetlander versus after the wetlander I have read in a couple places some guys are picking up four to six miles per hour just by using the coating I know that we don't know each other but I've watched every continent you put out and I feel like you're a real honest guy so I would love to your opinion on this?

      I saw the same things when I researched it, so no worries. I was curious about it too. I personally did not see a noticeable difference in speed, negative or positive. I also tried putting it on a prop to see if it would make any difference and if anything the prop lost 1 mph. I think it will improve your speed if your boat has really old paint on it and/or have rivets that are causing drag. The wetlander will help smooth the bottom out so there is less friction and things hanging up in the water while also sealing the rivets. My boat was fairly new, not too dented up or horrible paint, so there wasn't much to fix with the wetlander so thats why I probably didn't see the speed improvement, but for friction loss over vegetation.... its slick and greatly out-performs a standard jon boat without the wetlander coating.
