My expectation for DT was something along ARR 2.0. A low-stake but still intriguing plotline. Some conflicts that linger in the background to bite me in the ass if I'm not careful. But everything was solved within a handful of quests. Unimportant stuff got dragged on forever and important stuff was rushed like hell. And then, all of a sudden we were confronted with another world ending doom. No proper buildup. It was just there. Right in our faces. it was like: "There you have it. Now get emotional". Thats not how things work. Player got emotional in the expansions before because of the buildup. Because of the friendships and connections we as the WoL build during our journey. Because the characters we met felt like real people with relateable flaws and not like some perfect cardboard cutout. These characters made us feel through their actions and their doing, not because they told us what to feel like it happened in DT. For me DT feels like two different expansions butchered into one.

I agree with Quazii - I also think the most jarring thing overall with Dawntrail it's been handled like a different game. The communications are very different and less frequent, the marketing material doesn't seem to align with what we received, the quality control went from praiseworthy to just bad, the story quality went down DRAMATICALLY (and it's not about what HAPPENS in the story - it's about how it's written! Basic storytelling fundamentals, character writing, pacing), and despite the graphic update, it's looking cheap. Barely any new music (and very weird music placement), very little voice acting, very little gameplay...etc. It feels like something's going wrong at CBU3 right now, or like Quazii joked, SE just made it go into maintenance mode and we were not informed.
Remember that documentary about saving FFXIV that everyone used to talk about and react to? I feel like YoshiP should rewatch it. There's things that he says that don't align with the way the game is being handled today.
Because of the way he acted back then, they got a lot of good faith from the community to the point there were diehard defenders of whatever the dev team did, and that's why a lot of people during Endwalker still defended it, and we were waiting for the "filler episode" to be over - because we trusted them. Now a lot of time's gone by and they're exhausting that good faith, and as time goes by and he doesn't talk about the negative feedback, doesn't address the issues, more and more people get the feeling of getting left behind - something he talked about not wanting the 1.0 players to feel.
The most worrying part however IS the story, and not only because it's so bad that I don't know what they will do in the future, but WHY has it become like that?! Why are the characters so off? Why is it written like it's for children? Why are there so many inconsistencies, like the writers didn't even read the story before it? How did they allow it to be released like that? Isn't this type of thing something they could've seen from the beginning?
Arthars said at some point "Ishikawa is doing a good work supervising", but to me it feels like she didn't even read the story at all, because this is so below the quality level of the work we know from her. What is it that she is doing for FFXIV right now?
YoshiP certainly didn't play the game, because he's been answering nonsense about the story in interviews, like he's referring maybe to an initial concept of it that didn't make it to the end. And also, I'm always getting the impression he is barely in the office anymore - he spent the entire year going to a lot of events everywhere in the world, and even his New Year's greeting was about planning for next Fanfest.
Shouldn't there be more competent people in the team that they could trust that could tell something was wrong for the beginning and course correct? The big question is, what happened?
I appreciate content creators talking about it. I don't like the idea of "can't talk about it or we're not going to the media tour again", and I really hope that isn't true and we get to see you both in the next one. YoshiP himself said "A complaint is worth twice a compliment" - if we're complaining, that means we still care! So I hope he remembers his own words right now.

They should also take a note of the First Descendant devs. They are the prime example of listening to the community, including feedback, cutting out the bs and innovating and innovating. Say what you want about the game but that's the reality. I feel like they are the very old guard of FFXIV but even better. Now we dont know how much of this is Yoshis doing or the higher ups meddling, but things need to be set right for sure.

    • @Naoto-kun1085

I definitely agree that these are good discussions to be having, I do hope we can return to people praising the game again! I have a feeling the "can't talk about it or we're not going to the media tour again" isn't going to be an issue though considering that Zepla called the devs lazy and tore apart the game and still got invited back to media tour, it's clear the devs aren't against criticism for the game. I'm hoping that this story is just a fluke and we keep getting good content, the dungeons and trials are amazing content and the Arcadion is a phenomenal raid series, so if they put the same effort they're putting into gameplay and graphics then I'm optimistic about the future.

What I liked in the MSQ before that there were always events that made us think. That made us question our own viewpoints, our moral compass, our motives, our reasons. It was never ever only sunshine and rainbows. Our involvement had consequences for the good and the worse. HW for example. We made the truth public and our actions caused the destabilisation of the whole nation. People got injured because of our doing. Aymeric got stabbed and a child got thrown down from a church. In ShB we did similiar stuff in Eulmore. We uncover the truth and crushed everyones hope living there. The game showed us and let us experience that actions have consequences. That nothing is or can be undone with just a head nod or a smile. People of Garlemald rather died than trust us because they were told for years that we are the bad ones. In DT there is no moral compass, there are no consequences. Bakool Ja ja released a beast who was responsible for a lot of deaths and nobody cares. His actions had no consequences. Mamool Jas using eugenics because living under high trees, seeing no sun and eating only bananas isnt what they wanted for their life. All forgiven instantly because they had a bad time. The message in DT is: You can do cruel and terrible things but dont worry. Everything is forgotten and forgiven as long as you smile. Thats a horrible wrong message.

I think the game direction changed at some critical point in development. That is why a ton of story elements do not line up, random stuff is not voice acted etc. They chopped up whatever they had and put something different together for launch.

The thing is Square as a company is a decade behind trends. You can sort of see how they shifted in tone and overall handling of the community with DT. They went from very hands on and responsive (where most devs were like this mid 2000's- early 2010s). To very hands off, robotic and corporate (2015-2024 ish) on how they were handling the community as of now. Everything they have been doing currently is behind even the self-insertion of a flat character that checks all the right checkboxes instead of being organic in nature. That's sort of been Square's MO since the mid 2000s, always behind never leading.

The writing is juvenile, the pacing was waaaaaaay off. Its like a crappy shonen anime combined with a childrens show. They mashed Dawntrail and rushed and slowed again. Its the same as Endwalker, two expansions mashed into one. Why did they rush Endwalker to make Dawntrail? Were they really rushing for DAWNTRAIL? I think its arrogance and complacency both. THE START OF THE SAGA is not an excuse, YOU HAVE TO WRITE A GOOD STORY STILL.

  • @mismismism

I wish DT actually had been a beack vacation. Just had us go to Tural because we got a clue for a treasure hunt for the Golden City, Wuk could have been a happy go lucky kind of tour guide that introduced us to customs and guided us around instead of the stupid trials, we could have found Valigarmanda naturally while exploring some hidden ruins or something, and eventually found the Golden City where we could have just focused on Sphene, we think she's a friend but she's actually an evil AI thing trying to get info from us to get to Eorzea to eat everyone's souls, we beat her, get the cup, fun and drinks all around without all the childish Dora the Explorer Wuk baby sitting.
I just hope the next expansion, they truly get it together. They can make a comeback, Stormblood 2.0, but I worry that so much bad stuff was not caught and fixed in DT. If they can't see the issues or don't care anymore, then the game is cooked.

The part where Arthars was talking about people having a break for a few years and 'will they still remember in a few years' yeeeah, I feel that.
Every MMO kind of runs that risk, WoW and Destiny have already experienced their 'story heat-death' moments in a way and now it's FF's turn.
A lot of people saw Legion as the culmination of the Warcraft 3 > WoW story. And BFA/Shadowlands heavily compounded that by nuking the rest of the threads.
Similarly a tonne of people saw The Final Shape as the culmination of the Destiny story, and a lot of the community was already clinging on to just see the story through after the letdown of Lightfall.
That's not me saying 'the Dawntrail situation was unavoidable'. If anything it's the opposite. Past experience tells us they NEEDED to cook with DT. Let the community know the best is yet to come. Even if people take a break, as a lot will now the story they personally invested in is resolved, you want that little voice in the back of their heads thats like 'yo, you should keep an eye on FF, it's gonna kick off later'. But I dont think DT managed to achieve that. If anything it seems to have done the opposite. Rather than showing how much the game can grow beyond its past confines, they've shown its potential to fall off now the tried and true formula can't be relied on.
Personally I don't think it's all doom and gloom YET. I half-expected this kind of sentiment, I just didn't expect how justified it would be.
I'm like Quazii, I came in during the golden age. Back end of Shadowbringers, finishing the MSQ JUST in time for EW release, and then being a daily since then. And man, it almost (note, i said ALMOST) gave me whiplash as bad as Shadowlands/Lightfall did. If I'm being honest those two other huge letdowns enhanced my love of FF14 because it was the satisfying payoff that WoW and Destiny denied me. This is gonna sound daft, but my first time playing through Amaurot I had an actual emotional moment when we entered the area after the 2nd boss. All of that disappointment from WoW and Destiny came flooding back and I was just like 'holy shit, THIS is what i was looking for all that time.' No storytelling through implication. It was ALL show, don't tell. We've implied this apocalypse for two expansions. Now walk through it and see it at the city level. Now go to space and see it at the planetary level. Now experience it in the current day. Now stop it.
I know the community had its own feelings about how the Final Days was presented and explained and genuinely if I'd been here since the start I would have probably felt the same. But I wasn't. I was in this sweet spot where I hadnt caught all the earlier speculation, and a lot of the retconning that had happened was just my core canon because i didnt absorb enough of the previous canon before the retcons redefined it. So it just worked, and flowed, and carried through right to the end. My ONE gripe with EW's story is that the Final Days didnt spread aywhere near far enough. That one moment where Krile hallucenated it at the end got me really pumped because us forcing our way through Ultima Thule while the Final Days is gradually fucking up Old Sharleyan would have been the ultimate ticking clock. But I think they leaned away from that because the narrative of Ultima Thule needed a more gradual progression to tell its story. Which is their call, but I think they made the wrong one. We should have seen Ul Dah falling. Limsa overrun with fiends. Gridania on fire.
We kind of had the same issue with Living Memory on a much larger scale, where the pacing of the zone narrative directly flew in the face of the world narrative. 'Oh shit this AI demigod is about to break through the barrier between realities and ivade other worlds to harvest its souls. Sounds like a good time for ice cream and chats with the locals'. Like ?????????????????. And the fact they crammed Krile's ENTIRE backstory exposition into this section that was already taking way longer than the overarcing story demanded was even worse. And the kicker? It was Wuk slowing us down with her constant i nEeD tO uNdErStAnD eVeRyThInG aBoUt EvErYoNe. No you don't. Shut up.
I appreciated that it was like a cute inversion of Ultima Thule while also being an echo of Emet's ideology but with us in his shoes. I thought that was clever. But god damn whoever structured that last section of the MSQ needs to take some serious notes.
Anyway I've yapped on for more than long enough. Tl;dr purely in terms of the narrative I don't know what to think at the minute. We'll just have to see how the rest of DT pans out cause lets be fair, StB .0 msq was kind of ehhh in a lot of the ways DT is. But .2 to .5 was absolute fire patch to patch. So there's hope. And I really really do hope cause I don't want this to be round 3.
    Ishikawa, save us.

@@richardwicker8456 Im hoping he gets reassigned. We need a writer, not a 'that guy' writer. If you want to know what that means its basically someone who writes a character that is designed specifically to steal the spotlight away from the player characters. That is designed to make the players annoyed and push them away from the enjoyment.
DT just feels like an overall disrespect to the player's agency as a whole.

The problem with the game is that its content doesn't last long enough or is not refreshing enough. As a retired raider who has now transitioned to being a casual player, I just want to enjoy my time in FFXIV with content I can return to every day-content that lasts longer than just a few hours.
Additionally, there are many outdated systems in the game that need tweaking, especially concerning open-world content:
Hunt System: It's been the same from Heavensward to the present, lacking innovation.
Fates: Since A Realm Reborn (ARR) through to Endwalker (DW), they've essentially been copy-pasted without introducing anything new or interesting.
Housing: This aspect also feels outdated and in need of updates.
Maps: Similarly, there's nothing new here.
Beyond these points, there's little incentive to revisit older areas, as we've been engaging with these same systems for over 10 years without any groundbreaking new ideas being introduced.

My personal Cope is that CBU3 gave free reins to the juniors member for the story.
As the boys from GG pointed out the tone of the story appears to be from a significantly younger perspective unlike what we had so far.
In an interview Fromsoftware's Miyasaki said that one of their keys to success and transmission of knowledge from senior to junior was letting their juniors the opportunity to fail as a learning experience (albeit in project of lower scope).
Still thats just my pet theory but given the expansion is a new beginning and as Yoshi-P pointed out they didnt quite know where to start with yet and anticipated multiple way to go from depending on what was well received, i feel like that would be the best time for that if any.
I feel like the story aside the rest of the expansion is pretty similar in quality to what we had so far, the only part of DT that feel like kind of sore point to me is we were kinda promised like 200% content or something and so far its been very much like ew hopefully 7.2 onwards.
edit: Funnily, i would prolly not engage in that content in the first place, but it feels like being finessed.

Here's the problem some content creators don't get about Chaotic Alliance Raid because they're known or have a community willing to prog with them for hours. Casual players that have 2 or 3 hours a day or a week cannot stay long in PF to prog it. You end up spending most of your time waiting for the alliance to fill up than the time you actually prog. Then a couple of people quit and the alliance breaks. It disheartens people to keep going because it's cursed. too many moving parts, too many possible points of failure. That's what makes it harder to clear, not the mechanics.

I kinda agree that it seems like XIV wasn't planned to live this long. They probably didn't have a general road map of what features they planned ahead. If they did have road map, they would've slowly entangled the so called spaghetti code to make way for future features and not getting road block of unable to implement features due to spaghetti code these days. Unfortunately, this may mean that we won't get any revolutionary features any time soon due to the spaghetti code. If it's not for SE finance is not going too well these days, it's probably better to just make new MMO after EW.
8.0 will probably gonna be a make it or break it expansion for XIV. I hope they can get things together during this patch cycle and learn from all the criticism. We know many people still love this game since they still criticize it. When no one criticize it anymore, no one left that care for the game.

This was an expansion based on lies. The biggest one was the implicit promise of maintaining Yoshi-P and CE3 quality. I have zero evidence, but I believe FFXIV is in maintenance mode, either the people involved moved to other projects or positions or the team is seriously under budgeted. Baffling turn of events given that FFXIV is SE more profitable product.

My main issue, since Shadowbringers really, has been the job/role design.
It is the lens through which you experience all combat gameplay, so if that lens is bad it will sour the entire experience.
No matter how good they make the mechanics, the raids, the dungeons or whatever new battle content they introduce, if the jobs I'm playing are boring then the fun will run out fast and nothing but monotony is left.
Bad job design hurts the overall replayability of all battle content.
As a comparison the story in Stormblood wasn't exactly amazing either but I had no issue running the exact same 3 dungeons over and over because just playing different jobs in it, even just the different tanks, gave you a different experience and distinctly different playstyle. Savage as well was a very different experience between playing Warrior, Paladin and Dark Knight or between Scholar, Astro and White Mage.
But in the last two expansions I've not done the battle content more than absolutely necessary, even savage. Because playing a different job within any of the support roles barely changes anything, they play so similarly that you just kind of go through the motions and the almost absent minded nature of it makes me lose interest quickly.
I can only do my filler rotation, burst every 60 seconds, mitigate a buster every ~90 seconds or spam a filler spell and hit an oGCD heal/mit every minute for so long before I get fed up with performing the exact same actions in the exact same rhythm over and over.

That compounds the point they make though. FF is one of those games where as long as the story cooks, everything else can survive purely on its merit. EW is the biggest example of that because you're right, it was hugely lacking in other content. but it was still huge by the end of EW because the story carried it the whole way. DT doesnt have that luxury because the story doesnt carry it.
The one plus side of that is it almost seems like the team expected that and mitigated it by giving us 10/10 battle content. But that only works for so long. If the story doesnt pick up, sooner or later it wont matter what kind of fire battle content they add because no one will see it

I'd imagine "saving" and "salvage" could work one in the same, but in this case I think it's more important to salvage the community rather than the expansion.
From the patch-pacing, to the launch day, to the PR statements: Nothing about Dawntrail feels like it could be redeemed (if we're following how the veterans have felt since...what, mid-Stormblood?), and already the long-time subscribers are waiting to see if 8.0 is the final nail in the coffin. It's not just Dawntrail; it's the entire system that has eroded with longer waiting periods and less content added to each one. It's the start of 2025, so we'll see how things progress, but I would temper my positive expectations at this point.
I've already had the rug pulled from under me since Dawntrail launched and the entire sh*tshow that has unraveled since its debut, so I beg pardon when I say that I do not expect any endeavors from Square/FFXIV to reflect a manner that suggests they listen and respond well to constructive criticism. I'm not a long-time veteran, but I entirely agree with the sentiments being said about the Job system, combat, and the overall stale feeling that has been carried over. Giving new things to do masks that, but taking away GCDs, homogenizing them, and/or taking away unique spells and merging them (or flat out removing them) is a small detail that has merely been inflated with how poorly DT has been going. It's a long process of shaving off the iceberg until it gets to the point when they are overselling the value of the product (not to mention this is the most I've seen in errors, untranslated JP-to-EN, and disconnected storytelling in this game).
Many a little makes a mickle, and I think DT is simply a culmination of many things building over time and the breaking point for many. You can still have fun, but I wouldn't call Dawntrail good by contrast to what has been, and what competitors have been giving for roughly the same price. I'll still watch and see what we get in the future, and if it's worth it to me then I'll keep playing and paying.

Those had lower clearrates on patch yes, but there were much less ultimate raiders and people weren't playing as well. There is nothing as hard as UR, Triple Apoc or Crystallize Time in any of those fights (except Wormhole).

7.0 made me quit my sub since i started playing with stormbloods first patch. I really don't see a point in returning for 8.0 even if the story looks good because I don't want to spend an hour skipping cutscenes and I'll be damned if I spend an extra 20$ or whatever on a story skip for 1 expacs patch content so now 8.0 also needs to have even MORE of the WOW! factor for me to return... and I'm an idiot that will spend 40$ or more a month on gacha games.
ALso with Wuk Lamat, the issue is two fold. How she is written, and the voice actor was just okay. In a sea of great VA she hits like a brick wall. If you removed the VA, wk lamat would still be a shit character, but if you improved wuk lamats story the va would still hit like a ton of bricks... only real solution is to phase wuk lamat out of the story but I doubt they will.
I dont think it's a coincidence that the expac that had a new lead writer is also the worst expac they've released.

Arthars is right on differences of how Japanese ppl consume content and westerners/others consume content. JP players approach content on I will play all, if I like it I will continue playing. If I don't like it I'll at least do it once, if I don't have the time I'll pick ones that are priority/important to me than clear the rest when I am done. While western/others players literally chooses the content from the get go and refuse to even visit or even touch the others and then we get the "I have nothing to do in this game." It shows on luckybancho statistics that JP time and time again always have high clear rates.

I'm not saying this in an 'FF vs WoW' kind of way, functionally its going to improve on FF's iteration in a lot of ways purely because of how WoW is designed in the backend. It's modular in a way FF clearly isn't, hence the endless 'spaghetti code' meme.

That whole "people didn’t know what to expect" argument feels like a total cop-out. Anyone paying attention knew Chaotic was going to be a high-end fight, so acting like the surprise factor is the problem just misses the mark. The real issue is how miserable it is to engage with repeatedly.
Like you said, it's completely doable-if you’ve got the patience and the right group-but the way it’s structured just doesn’t fit the raiding culture in NA/EU which is smaller, close knit and niche by design I might add. In comparison to JP data centers that have a different raid mentality. Even as someone who does EX's and Savage content - I'm not wasting time on Chaotic for it's bum rewards.

  • @GothaBillsAndDeath
    @GothaBillsAndDeath 17 часов назад +5

25:20: not to spam and this will be my last comment, but WoW also has a monopoly that most other games can't really rely on: nostalgia. Hey, is there a content drought on retail? No worries, play Classic WoW. Hey, are you getting bored of waiting for phased content to launch in Classic WoW? We gotcha covered, play some Season of Discovery where all we did was revamped some dungeons and raids and gave you retail spells in the form of runes to collect. Hey, are you bored of that now? Come back to retail, we have the Siren Isles coming out in a few hours...
See what I mean? No other MMO can do that. Blizzard effectively made a streaming service out of their game. There's no content drought if you can keep recycling like this and keeping players within the WoW ecosystem. It creates a lot of differing opinions on what WoW should be, but it keeps longtime subs within the loot treadmill until their long and dead. None of this really relies on a "good story" like FFXIV. Just a sea of content. So to Arthas' point where JP players feel like they need to complete everything, I would like to add that all versions of WoW simply have too much to complete when seen as a whole. So the hamster in the WoW treadmill might not complete everything but they have an overabundance of content to complete. Look at how popular Hardcore WoW is and that's just what if Classic WoW but permadeath. This seems to be more of a western mindset where players want to play the same game over and over again but they want to feel like they have an opt-in to what version they want.
With WoW, you may not complete every version of it, but you "feel" like you get your sub's worth because your 15USD gets you access to like 5 WoWs.

FFXIV needed ARR 2.0. Not Dawntrail. Return to the roots, to old places, stories and low stakes. Not "hey, let's just jump to the other side of the world to punch some cyberpunk aliens or whatever". When each expansion introduces more and more new stuff (like we had it before the Dawntrail), to clean the slate you need to stop and turn back.
Otherwise it is the same road WoW went, when the it with its core themes of Azeroth, its heroes and factions slowly turned into MCU Phase 4 multiverse BS, culminating with people punching in the face basicely the Death Incarnate itself.
Not everything can be, should be and needs to be Dragon Ball with endless escalation of stakes. We don't need endless stream of new continents, timelines and parallel dimensions with "upload your mind to PC" cyberpunk people to have a good story.

Body check is so punishing that PF has been a nightmare for the first 2 weeks where it takes 1 person to leave to mess up a 24 man group. I honestly like the difficulty but for some is unbearable and it will leave a bad taste for their first impression.
But my biggest issue is how late it was out. Why was this not out sooner? The rewards of getting more 730 ilvl gear is great but why is this out when its a few months before the next wing will come out and make most of the reward obsolete.
Also we don't have confirmation on when is the next CAR will come out or I dare say if there will be any at all for this expansion.

23:44: This hits the nail on the coffin as to why there will never be fundamental changes to FFXIV like enhancing class fantasy or promoting player engagement in the same way WoW does it. Completely different culture. Western MMOs have intrinsically different philosophical differences compared to eastern MMOs from my experience, which all stems from what the community will put up with. I kind of wish they had developed a system where a native company would make intrinsic changes to the game depending on that region's preferences. For example, NetEase's version of WoW is very different than NA's version of WoW especially when it comes to microtransactions. S.K.'s version of FFXIV allows you to buy a LOT of glams you would normally grind for in-game through store shops. I wish FFXIV had a specific NA/EU company that made gameplay / system changes that only appealed to NA/EU gamers since a lot of people really want that class fantasy + group content you get from either WoW (retail or Classic) or even newer western mmos like Ashes of Creation. People adhere more to the holy trinity of rpgs (tank, dps, healer) here than they do in JP, which is why all jobs are just some variation of DPs in XIV. Western content makers can complain about that but unless SE has financial incentive to make these changes specific for their individual regions, they have to understand SE will probably not cater to them.
I've long accepted this and actively unsub to either game whenever I get tired of whatever one or the other has to offer.

Other versions of wow are good thing and i don't understand why they don't let you play ff11 in ff14 sub.
Main point of ff 14 is the main story, if story is good people will swallow time when there is not that much content, but when story is not good and there is nothing to do if you are not a raider then people are not happy. Everyone know that wuk lamat is in the center of the problems with the story and they still push her in post patches.
Also im sure there are some corporate greedy people in Square Enix and they the problem, becuase they are the reason why last collaboration between ff 14 and ff brave exodius wasn't a fun farmable content but glams for mog station to make more $.
Also they should save some other reflection they are the chance to give player completely new world what could fill content for few expansions, but we are loosing reflections very fast, most impactful void one done in post patches, sphene reflection done without even seeing a little part. How much land we even have left in the source to explore?

I'm the kind of person that loves gearing up characters and the whole min maxing of stats, but everything about it in FFXIV feels way too streamlined and boring and everyone just wears the same gear sets and there is no variation and its been like that for years. For the longest time I played Savage with my friends group but at some point even that was not enjoyable anymore. Or rather I didn't feel like the time and effort spend was worth the reward and I stopped raiding. Then it hit me, what else is there to do other then raiding or endcontent in general... PVP is just not good enough to really get invested in, housing is cool when you actually have a house to work on. For the longest time I was just farming materials and maxing my crafting gear out untill I just stopped. What is your experience with this guys because this is just my personal experience.

Get a vibe that since EW patches, DEI has gotten more involved and really thrown a spanner in the works.

The job of a producer is to dispatch the budget into proper department and we know that they dont get what they earned, because they have to sustain other projects and shareholders.
So when a big money sink like the graphical update is coming, he has to choose which departement will get a cut, for me dawntrail is the sacrifice xpac but im sure the futur will be better.

Then they wasted the money, the graphics update was a massive "meh"
Game looks dated, and it will be for the next ten years until the next update.

Beginning of 16 is slow af, beginning of 14 was slow af, ARR is literally called a "filter" by the community even after it had scissors taken to it multiple times to help the pacing. They're just shite at telling the start of a story, always have been, and that's with 4k hours of playtime.

Most disingenuous title, on a reddit level take. FFXIV is doing fantastic still, regularly has servers just stop being able to provide instances queues due to sheer numbers of players. This is WoW brain infesting FFXIV. Stuck in a interpersonal bubble with no actual line of communication to the outside world.

    • @Urbish
      @Urbish 9 часов назад +5

Okay, there's definitely some hyperbole going around but objectively the game is not doing 'fantastic'. It's sitting at mixed reviews, the story (the foundation of the game) has been received pretty badly and it's bleeding players at a concerning rate.
